Tradesman's prices were much higher to start and after negotiating, Shorty's gave me a discount. CanPro tried to sell me an oversized furnace (80K instead of 60K, which is what I needed) and said that their "standard" furnace was as good as a "premium" which my research doesn't suggest. The gent who came out (Thomas) told me everything I needed to know and was thorough. Tradesman and CanPro were less so. No problems with the company/payment. Installers (2 plumbers for the tank, 2 for the furnace) were pleasant, professional, efficient and helpful. No hesitation recommending Shorty's. Local business!

Here's the con and it's a big one: in what world can you receive a quote for $269 and end up paying almost a grand, $950 for what is actually a very small house. I knew there was an extra fee for the anti-microbial treatment, which I agreed to, but am now questioning its necessity as that was an extra $250, so already doubling the price (why??), and then there's this extra duct and opening and extra mains... blah blah blah, and all of a sudden we're looking at $50 extra per - and we ended up having like (apparently) 6 duct openings and 5 mains, only 2 of which were included. Wow. Bottom line, we'll chalk this one up to a learning experience, but would I recommend this company? Not in this lifetime. Anyways long story short my mom was charged $1200 for her ducts and sanitizing for her 700 sq ft duplex. I was reminded about what happened as I just had the ducts done in my 1000sq ft home.... Even had microbial sanitizing and dryer vents done.... Final balance of the company I sued? $300. This company scams people regularly and they don't care... check out the Google reviews. Very impressed with the tech that came to our home for a service call on our furnace. The problem…read morewas we had no heat. He quickly traced the problem to the thermostat, not the furnace. Before selling me a new set-back thermostat, which I would have happily purchased, he suggested we replace the batteries first, to see if that was the cause of the the problem. Two new AA batteries were installed and the furnace fired up. My only charge was for the service call! Also, he arrived earlier than expected and was gone in well under an hour. Honesty like this is how a business grows, through customer loyalty. When our furnace that is nearing the end of its time needs replacing, this company will get the job, no questions asked.

I was working when the installers came to install the 50 gallon tank. They told my wife that a 50 gallon might not fit and that they may need to acquire a 40 gallon model. The technician phoned someone ant their company as were told to squeeze in the 50 gallon model.They indicated to my wife that it barely fit, but was installed anyways. She was informed that someone would be out soon to vent the water heater. A week later the individuals came to vent the production t and told my wife it was to large and they would phone Furnasman and we would hear from them shortly. Two weeks elapsed and I contacted this company with my complaint. A very polite woman sounded concerned and indicated that we would hear from them tomorrow. I instructed her to contact my wife as I work and she is at home. Meanwhile, I have been contacted mum Manitoba Hydro because they want to inspect the safety of the installation. 5 days after registering my complaint a voicemail was left on my phone from a Furnasman technician. As an educator I can't inform my class that they will have to wait for my conversation reading a water heater. Hence, why I asked them to contact my wife's cell phone number. My wife phoned the next business day and asked for assistance via a message. Here we are 4 business days later still waiting to have their mistake rectified. My advice to all people needing a water Heater.UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. When I told my friend the amount they charged us he was mortified. I am mortified by their pathetic service and upselling. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE ! l
