Had Cassell Brothers come out to my house because I had a clog from roots going into the septic…read moretank. Water wasn't draining. First thing they wanted to do, without looking at anything, was replace the pipe going into the house (which is around 10 feet long.) Guy wanted to say "oh, the pipe is probably moved or damaged." I'm not saying it wasn't, but he sure didn't know because he hadn't even looked at it. I told him it was probably roots. I told him that several times.I was hoping they could root out the pipe until I could do more extensive work to keep that from happening again. Anyway, the tank was already partially dug up. The tank lid is 18"x18" and less than about 8" deep at the most. So they gave me an estimate, which was supposed to clear the drain and send a camera up the pipe to inspect it. They prized the lid off, used a shovel to knock the roots off the baffle, and then charged me 750.00. That's pretty much all they did. They didn't test to see if the water was draining after that. They didn't do anything I couldn't have done myself. They drove off, and the toilets were still not draining properly. This is what the bill said: Clear Septic Baffle Clog: Clear Baffle Clog *This is to clear the clog and shorten the pipe into the baffle if needed. Not sure why I got charged to shorten a pipe, but they did not shorten any pipes. So I called the office and Mark told me it was pretty much all they could do without doing 11,000 dollars of work. No, that's not a typo. I was met with a shrug and a hardsell. So I called Sharpe's Septic. The guy came out, opened the tank back up and had a look. Thought it was clogged back already, but the issue was that Cassell had just left that much of a mess. I wasn't even living in the house, because again, the toilets weren't draining. So the clog the guy saw was not a new development. He cleared it and didn't charge me, most likely because he felt sorry for me having gotten literally victimized by a grift. He then gave me a 500 dollar quote for the same exact job Cassell wants to charge me 11,000 dollars for. Needless to say, Sharpe's will be getting the business. They did my septic field years ago and I was very happy with them. Only reason I didn't call them for this right away was because I had a service contract with Cassell and I foolishly thought that might mean something. (SPOILER: It doesn't.) Cassell then called me trying ask if I wanted to "take advantage of the fact there was some open spots on their schedule." (Oh, I bet there is, and advantage is definitely being taken, I can assure you of that.) Here's what it says on their estimate: Install Sewer Cleanout - Less Than 3 ft Deep: Cleared sewer back up. Diagnosis indicated that the stoppage is after house drain transitions into the sewer. Ran fixtures throughout the house and noted that water was flowing freely past the clean out in yard. No warranty if stoppage occurs again due to misuse or negligence. Sewers that have roots will require additional service, the length of operation can't be guaranteed or warrantied. They know the problem is roots, and they absolutely did not even think about running fixtures throughout the house. They did not notice waster flowing freely past the clean out in the yard, because THERE IS NO CLEANOUT IN THE YARD. So they lied about what they did and didn't do. These people are grifters. Plain and simple. Absolutely avoid them at all costs.

Finding a reliable and affordable house repair can be lengthly affair, look no further that Steve and his crew to help with your project. On our first repair job, Rotten exterior wood was replaced with a PVC board product that looks great! We were so pleased with Steve's craftsmanship and attention to detail, we hired him again in 2023 to totally replace our aging siding on our sunroom. Steve listened to what we were looking for, and promptly quoted us a price. We are VERY pleased with the outcome - cedar siding in a natural look, with PVC replacement boards for the trim. He and his brother-in-law even replaced 2 external light fixtures (customer provided) and the total project is super nice. Steve, his son Nick, and his brother-in-law are some the best skilled and attentive craftsmen that I have been involved with. Now here is the sad part - SC Gallagher moved recently to Aiken, SC and now we are forced to find another contractor as skilled as Steve. I would definitely contact Steve for your project needs. I wish there was a 10 star review because I would give double the stars for this company. Vicente…read morehas been extremely professional from day one. He was prompt (within minutes of me sending a message to get a quote on his website) with reaching out to me and then to coming out to give a free estimate a few days later. I live in North Augusta, SC. He was on time, actually a few minutes early and immediately surveyed the issues with my backyard, he saw things I wasn't aware of and made suggestions. He quoted me a price that was VERY reasonable (better than what another company said who didn't even bother coming out, they just wanted me to upload pictures and made a quote based on that). I also have to say I felt very comfortable having him at my home which is huge for me, you know first impressions are every thing and talking to him (even on the phone the first time) I felt like I have known him for years. We communicated by text, he took the time to answer all of my questions and was very patient. I have been burned by other companies and am paranoid because it's hard to know for sure someone is going to do what they say until it's over. Then comes the day of service, which was not very long after the quote, he stated the time he would arrive and you already know what happened, he was a few minutes early. I walked outside to move my car and there he was. This is where I also met Matt who was just the icing on the cake. He was extremely helpful and professional. I am a single female who works two jobs so I am used to doing everything on my own, I needed to move some things out of the way (I felt the need to do it even though Vicente said not to worry about it) and while moving it I turn around and Matt is right there doing it telling me a gentleman should not let a lady do what I was doing. I told him I was used to it and he actually said "you got us here now you don't have to," what a concept in today's society. Matt also knew a lot and took time to explain things to me, I am always full of questions and we actually left Vicente doing work while I monopolized some of Matt's time. This is not to say Vicente wasn't knowledgable because he absolutely is, but it's good that even his co-worker is professional as well, it makes a difference. All of this and more to say I highly recommend V&S to anyone, if you are on the fence don't hesitate. There are not enough words to describe the finished product. I had horrible drainage issues in my backyard and the landscape looked horrible because I had trees cut down. Services provided: grading, drainage pipes reinstalled properly, grass seeds applied and pavers installed. I feel like I am forgetting something. I am already trying to figure out my finances so I can get V&S to fix the issues in my front yard. Thank you Vicente and Matt for making my backyard feel like a home again.
