Not quite sure how I should rate this facility as I have mixed feelings and have visited only once…read more My optometrist arranged an appointment for me the day after I'd been to his office. So the new appointment came quickly. The Southeastern office folks had me fill in about 10 pages of medical information including a page, requiring my signature, that warned me of collection services if I failed to pay a bill. Not long after I'd completed the paperwork, a technician summoned me and took pictures of my eyes, the same ones my optometrist had taken the day before. Then I returned to the waiting room where I sat for probably another 20+ minutes. Finally I was called into another small, dark office where another young technician reviewed my 10 pages of paperwork and asked another myriad of questions. She administered a couple more sight tests and drops to dilate my eyes and more to numb my eyes while she performed a pressure check, similar to the one experienced before at the optometrist's office. Afterwards, she ushered me to a room for more eye pictures and then to "the back waiting room." After sitting another 15 minutes in the back room, the photo technician called me again for more photos and an injection that added dye to the next set of pictures. Returning to the back room, I waited another 15 minutes before being ushered into Dr. Barb's room where I again I waited another 15 minutes for the doctor to enter. He introduced himself and shook my hand and informed me of my diagnosis and treatment that's expected to begin next week -- all depending on insurance approval. Not at any time did I see results of the pictures taken nor what exactly was happening with my vision. He informed me that without treatment, I would eventually lose sight in one eye. He shook my hand and bid me adieu. When I return next week, insurance pending, I will ask to see results of the tests I underwent. All in all, the appointment took 2 hours and 45 minutes. The woman at the checkout station said the second appointment shouldn't take as long as my initial appointment, yet she couldn't promise it wouldn't be. The whole experience was rather sterile, more like an assembly line than a caring practice. We shall see, and I am hoping for the best.
