I had transferred from a great school in san pedro- San Pedro High and man i guess Jordan in watts is where the rejects end up. I regret messing up in my teens gaining the removal from SPHS. I'm sure Jordan is better now, I'm glad all the racism has diminished throughout the years.

No sense of direction where he could go to start and complete his senior year. Then it was turned around saying that it was my child who was hiding things and correspondence. My son changed the three years he was there. His confidence deteriorated. Later I found out that there was a lot of favoritism when it come to certain students, especially the "star" athletes. They would get away with bullying other students and people would look the other way. Ever wonder how Verbum Dei keeps its high percentage of college acceptances? They kick out their lower performing students without proper guidance nor sense of direction, not even providing resources for parents to further support the student. My son's mental health deteriorated and much counseling was needed afterwards. We were left dissatisfied and disappointed because we sacrificed a lot to send our son to school, working multiple jobs even though the work study program partially helped. We thought we were doing our son a favor, when in reality it was a disservice. If you decide to enroll your son at this institution, be ready to keep track of everything because you will get told last minute that your volunteering contributions were not "complete," even when some of the office staff would say that no sign is was required because they already tracked it for you...

There is a basketball (and volleyball) gym in the building and the staff like to play against the students. Everyone also gets a free lunch at the school. The school has a lot of trips and visits colleges. You can also get a part-time job with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps at the school. I'd like to just say this high school was horrible anytime I reminisce back im left with horrible memories and trauma from the treatment I got at this school by staff and students. Ms. Garcia, other desk staff, nurses, teachers. The way they single handedly were able to isolate specific students and give false narratives and get away with so much I was not the only one. My grades were straight F's although I loved school I was depressed here staff tried to treat me like I was a troubled child yet I was being harassed and not left alone by staff. They told me I would not graduate and I'd have to go to continuation school, not long after I transferred to Huntington Park High in 2020 I got straight A's and B's and thrived and graduated with my class of 2022 and actually was ahead in most of my classes I even exceeded past the credits that were required, etc. Please consider where you enroll your children.

All they do is scream throughout the day. Sometimes the screaming is blood-curdling. I once had a visiting relative comment on this and they thought that the students were being attacked in some way. They weren't joking and were genuinely concerned to the point they thought we should contact law enforcement. I had to remind them that they do this every day, it continues after school in the after-school programs. Once, as I was going for a walk by the school, a student, possibly separated from his gym class made a very crude and offensive sexual remark at me (an adult) relating to oral. There were zero adults present and I had no idea how to report this as I was very far from the entrance of the school which is on Firestone. Not very long ago, about 2-3 months ago, a lone student behind the fence was just yelling, "n-er, n-er!!!" repeatedly for close to two minutes straight. The parents are self-entitled. They will block your driveway when it's time to pick up a child. They have been in my own experience combative and aggressive. In the mornings, the parents will play their corridos and Banda music very loud in a residential area. There is a female teacher who uses her megaphone throughout the day to talk to her students during what sounds like gym period. She is the only teacher I hear! It becomes such a nuisance as I work from home. This school makes it very difficult to complain as there are no online forms to fill out, no way to submit any sort of documentation. If I call, they tell me I could only file a complaint in person during school hours and where's the time for that? In this day and age where it's easier to access things via the internet, you still have to go in person. I have lived by this school for decades. This is far from a decent school. It needs a lot of improvement and consideration for the residents that live around it. (For some reason this review shows I am located in San Francisco. I live and currently am located in South Gate.)
