Despite an official judgement from the court ordering Carl to reimburse us for all repairs, judicial interest, and court courts - as of May 18th, 2024 we have STILL heard nothing from him, his company and have received NO payment. Let this be a reminder to ALWAYS vet all contractors before having any work done on your home. Ask for insurance and license information UPFRONT. I hope that something like this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. ***************************** Original Review 2023 I have been holding off on writing this review due to pending litigation but have been given the all-clear. Although Carl of Southeast AC may have once been a reputable contractor, that time as passed. He installed a brand new unit to our home June 2022. One year later he personally completed our annual inspection & maintenance in May of 2023. In August of this year, just weeks after his inspection/maintenance, water started pouring out of our ceiling due to a faulty float switch, broken drip pan, AND clogged lines. Carl apologized for missing these errors during his prior inspection and offered to paint over the damage to our wall. His painter came out who found significant MOLD DAMAGE and recommended the whole ceiling and wall be replaced. Carl gave us a deposit and the go-ahead to have a contractor begin the necessary repairs. Once the repairs were completed, Carl ghosted us and refused to pay the remaining balance. He installed faulty equipment, performed negligent maintenance, and then refused to pay for the extensive damage to our home. He lacks professionalism in all our communications and blatantly lied to cover up his error. He is only concerned with his pockets and not the quality of work or his customers. If you have had equipment installed by this man, PLEASE have another person inspect it. DO NOT trust Southeast Heating and Air to uphold any quality or standard. (It's cheap for a reason) read more

Needed some a/c work on my 30 year old system and I was bracing for the cost of replacement. I had used this company seven years ago and had A really great experience and a totally excellent repair as I've had no problems with the AC unit since Southeast fixed it seven years ago. I think it was like 80 bucks I paid seven years ago and in order to get this fixed this time around, I was pleasantly surprised to be handed a bill for less than $75 and I have been using the system ever since. I was about to write up a 2 star review, but here's the full story: The A/C went out at the house in the 100+ days of Baton Rouge summer weather. I called early Thursday morning after realizing it was out late Wednesday night, and SEAC said they were going to be able to come by Thursday (same day) late... BUT... they never showed that night, without a call to say why. I called again late that night, and they called back saying some other calls went late... meaning... I, my wife, and my 4 month old son had to wait in a 90+ degree house overnight to have it looked at. My thoughts were that they should have called without my prompting, but they didn't. At least they called back late that night after I called them again. Anyway, Friday morning they sent out a tech to look at the unit. The compressor was bad. The unit was older, and the home owner (we rent the house) wanted the compressor replaced versus full unit replacement. So Carl (the owner?) tried to find us a compressor in town. No go. The closest one was in Memphis. They didn't tell the warehouse to ship it until late Friday, which meant the compressor was going to sit in the warehouse all weekend only to be shipped Monday at 2 pm to supposedly arrive Tuesday. The part got into town Tuesday as promised. The tech came out to replace it late Tuesday (6:30p) as promised. But he didn't have the fluid to charge the unit, and so he left without a heads up that he was leaving or if / when he or anyone else would be back...? So I was forced to call AGAIN (and I'm not a high maintenance guy), because I didn't know the story of why the air wasn't working (remember I have a wife and child to report to) and didn't know why the guy was gone. So after the call, two techs showed to fill the unit with fluid, and at 8:10p the unit was finally pumping cool air into my 92 degree house, finally starting to cool my family. Here's what happened next: That night the house never got below 85 degrees. Some time in the middle of the night, the a/c quit working. So the next morning at 8am I made another call to Southeast A/C's answering service (really...? you're so busy that calls run you to after dark and you don't get in until after 8am?). And so meanwhile... my 5 month old son had developed a f---ing head cold from being in a bedroom that was being cooled by a wall for 6 DAYS!!! He's not old enough to blow his nose yet, which makes it horrible for the little guy. So Net-net: Southeast Heating & Air Conditioning sucked ass on this job. They may be busier than a one armed paper hangers, but that simply makes them overtaxed with work and sloppy with the work they are doing (do they accept too many jobs?). They run around seemingly unorganized, with too many calls to complete before sundown, which does not ensure good quality service the first time around. So proceed with caution. My thoughts are that before hiring these guys, you should make sure what their work-load is... and ask specific questions about what the _probable_ mean time to fix is. I admit that the home owner / landlord of the house probably added to the delay in wanting the compressor replaced, but if was SEAC that didn't order it until after ship-time on Friday. We could have had it Saturday had they been on the ball. And not showing up the first time like they said they would... not fixing the a/c properly the first time... and not being on top of the whole situation makes me rate them at 1 star vs 2 or 3 stars. Overall, I think they are good-intentioned guys, and they seemed to know their stuff... but be careful when hiring them. I'd ask how busy they are first. Ask them to do some math problems for you to see if they can think. Can't tell you about price. I didn't see the bill. Hope this helps. read more

Carl has been providing service to us for YEARS, you will never meet a more honest, down to earth person not to mention on hell of a good technician that does EXCELLENT work. When we have had problems in the past Carl has come early in the morning or late into the evening. One time he even came on a Sunday afternoon. We totally appreciate the very hard work he and his crew have done for us. I would not trust my air conditioning/heating problems to any one else. I would proudly recommend Carl his crew and their service to anyone at anytime. In fact we have done exactly that on several occasions. read more

Incredibly disappointed...have used Carl in the past for service. Have been trying to schedule an annual maintenance visit since April (his recommendation), only to be told on multiple occasions to "call back later", "he's too busy", "not now, it's really hot", "no, we won't schedule an appointment for a month from now, call back closer to the date you want the service' to "it's in the 90s, he's too busy with broken systems". A/C suddenly stopped working and it was 85 degrees in the house. Called late afternoon, and Southeast ret'd call next morning, having me check some things first to make sure a service call was necessary. It was, but I appreciated the opportunity to check things and perhaps get it back on without a service call. When I answered the door, he had already found the problem. Someone (not me) had installed some type of suppressor which had gone bad, and so the compressor would not turn on. It was an unnecessary part, as the unit has one built in. After it was removed, A/C started working and house is cooling down. I found Southeast on a neighborhood site. A theme was - prompt, excellent work, fair pricing. I found all to be true. If he'd said I needed to replace whole unit, I wouldn't have known any better. Instead, it was a simple fix, and cost less than $100 for the service. Hope it stays working and keeping my house cool, but if something goes awry, I know I'll be calling Southeast again. read more

I would like to give Mr. Carl Rogers an A+ I called my son Pete today who lives in S.A., TX. He grew up here I asked, him to call some of your buddies and see who they recommend for A\C service? He did and a friend of his recommended Mr. Carl Rogers. I called him and he came out today and I had the best surprise Mr. Carl checked my unite out and asked when did I have Freon put in it? He put Freon in it and it's back up working he will keep a check on it. He also went up in my attic and told me I didn't need my heating units checked unless they stop working, they are self contained. The other A\C has been charging me for a winter check since they were put in money wasted! This gentlemen is an honest person that tries to help without telling a woman a cocking bull story! I must say that I had a completely different experience with Southeast Heating and Air than Sean did. The a/c went out in my house in August 2010 a few weeks before we were to host our son's birthday party in our home. Needless to say it was a hot! I placed a call with them and they determined that the compressor had gone out on the outside unit. I decided to go the cheap route due to budgetary reasons. The part had to be ordered as it was an older unit, I understand that it isn't cost effective to store every possible part that can go bad. The installer was running late but called to give us an update on when he would be out there. The installer arrived and was apologizing for not being there at the original appointment. Life happens....roll with it! The installer (Chris) went right to work when he got there and we were back in business within an hour or two. I have no hesitation recommending Carl or any one at Southeast Heating and Air. I would use them again, and I did on Monday (October 24, 2011) when my compressor fan motor went out. Prompt friendly service is what I received and I am certain that you will to when you call them! Just remember that your a/c probably isn't the only one that is on the fritz today! I don't know where to begin. Carl is great. Last summer he came out because my Freon was low and couldn't find the leak. He filled it up and it lasted the whole summer. He didn't even charge me for his time or Freon. This summer it happened again, except when everyone told me to replace my whole unit, he told me not to do that. He suggested I just change my evap coil since it would be cheaper and since I wouldn't be in LA forever, he didn't see the point in doing that. After two bad evap coils from the factory, Carl actually changed my entire air handler at the price he quoted me for the evap coil. This includes a 10 year warranty bc the handler is brand new. Insanely great! Mind you, this entire time Carl is dealing with Bells Palsy from bad dental work. He still managed to make it out and follow up with me. He said he felt bad for leaving me without A/C for so long and that I've been patient! He's a really honest business man and is super helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

My A/C had been running inefficiently for some time and seeing as the days were beginning to get hotter, I decided I would try to get it repaired. We only moved to the area a few months ago so I began to look for reputable businesses online and I searched Yelp for companies that offered the opportunity to receive an estimate online. I reached out to a few and not only was Carl of Southeast Heating & Air Conditioning the first and ONLY person to respond, he also did so within 10 minutes of my request. He asked me questions about my problem and was very courteous and professional. He even went so far as to ask me if I had a home warranty that I was forgetting (Which I was) and encouraged me to look into that option. Ultimately I decided to go with Southeast based solely on the quality of the interaction I had with him. It was a Friday morning when I informed him of this and he told me he would come out that afternoon so that he could address the issue before the hot weekend we were about to have. True to his word, he let me know when he was on his way so that I could inform my wife who was at home with our infant son, took my request to not ring the doorbell so as to not interrupt my sons nap and had repaired the problem within the space of an hour. He billed us very fairly on the spot, advised my wife of what had been done and that he would follow up with me as well (Which he did) and even left us a nifty little thermochromic fridge magnet that tells you the average temperature in the house. His follow up included details on what he had done and also what to watch for in the future and advice on what to do should the issue arise again. We have had numerous great experiences with Carl at Southeast Heating & AC. We have owned 3 houses in the last 13 years in the BR area, and he has serviced all of our air conditioners. He completely replaced the first system for $1000 less than any other quote! He has always been quick to respond and his prices are reasonable. We refer him to everyone we know! This morning at 2:00 am, my husband and I woke up and knew the house was hot, the AC had suddenly stopped blowing cold air. I called first thing in the morning (7:00) and left a message with the exchange. Carl called me at 8:30 and said that he would go straight out to check it, even though I was at work. He said that the high temperature would be in the high 90's, and he didn't want our house to get too hot. He called me back at 10:30 to tell me that he had replaced the capacitor and left a bill and the broken part at my back door. Now THAT is excellent service! His bill was extremely reasonable, and the AC is blowing very cold air. In the middle of summer, I could not be happier that he was able to fix it so fast & cheap! read more

We have been using SouthEast Heating and Air / Carl for our A/C needs for over 15 years. It is a tremendously relief when A/C problems occur to know that I am counting on someone friendly, courteous, honest, and prompt. Once when I was out of the country he fixed an A/C- drainage issue for my wife at no charge. Several times he has helped me over the phone to diagnose and fix minor problems myself - again at no charge. I am moving now and will greatly missing having Carl as my A/C repair person. I'm pretty sure the service that did work for me before we found Carl defrauded me (I was gullible) but I had no way to prove it. With Carl there has never been any issue or concern. read more

My husband and I had the great fortune to call Carl with SEAC several years ago when we had trouble with our unit. Over the years we have had to make "emergency calls" and routine maintenance calls to Carl. He has always responded quickly and done an excellent job. He is the best guy in the business and we won't use anyone else! There aren't many people these days who don't try to sell you something you don't need. We had a new air conditioner installed about 8 years ago by another company. No matter how low I kept the thermostat our house would not cool down. During the summer I couldn't put anything in the oven or it became very hot and uncomfortable in the house. This went on for about four years with us calling the company, adding Freon, changing the thermostat, etc... We were complaining one night and one of our friends mentioned that they had the same problem and called Carl with Southeast Heating & Air who was able to fix their problem. We decided to give it a shot and Carl came out and looked at our unit. There was a small part that wasn't the correct part on the a/c, which incidentally was original to the unit. Carl ordered a new part and changed the same. For the past three years we have had no further issues and our house stays very cool, sometimes even downright nippy! Best of all, our electric bill has gone down almost $100.00 per month since Carl fixed the a/c. I highly recommend him to all my friends with a/c problems. I don't remember the exact price of the fix, but I believe it was under $300.00!
