Came here for the first time with my son. We came here specifically for a bull whip for a gift for a friend. I have no idea what most of these things are, but I know if it pertains to riding horses, lassos, and many other equipment you need, they most likely have it here. There are so much things here to include clothes, cowboy hats, boots, etc. I honestly don't know if the prices are considered reasonable, cheap, or expensive so I wouldn't be able to tell you. They have a mini bar with some games. They also have a place that can form your hat the way you want it to. The staff are friendly. The have a pretty decent sized parking lot. A western wear store with a bar, full service rack shop and super nice staff? Check! I don't know how we have missed this store as many times as we have gone down this road. They have everything from boots, to working gear, to designer rodeo wear. Tired of shopping sit down and have a drink. Great space to chill out in. read more

It's the only place I can find decent fitting jeans, a bit pricey but worth it. The Staff is very welcoming. The entire store is very clean and well organized, something for everyone! And the little Bar in the back, well heck yeah, nothing like a cool beverage while shopping. read more

I purchased a brand new South Texas Tack strip down ranch roper saddle from their online store. The saddle was assembled with drywall screws and what appears to be rubber cement. The leather was cut very inconsistent from left to right sides of the saddle. Rear billets don't match each other and the synthetic fleece is poorly installed. The bars of the tree are very convex shaped where they sit on the horse (tried multiple different horses) causing a very poor fit. I won't use this saddle because I don't want to sore any of my horses. I spent about $1,600 on this saddle and feel horrible about it. I've had $900 Sheridan saddles that were built much better and actually fit a horse. read more

My daughter has been wanting to stop here for a while now. We finally made it out this week and we were not disappointed. First off, I wasn't expecting the store to be so large. We were quickly sidetracked by their clothing area. I was happy to see a very wide variety of jeans, which included short lengths. Most western stores don't carry short sizes. They even have Birkenstocks, that was quiet the surprise. On the other side of the store they have all you can possibly need for your horse. My daughter was able to find all she needed for her horse. We were helped by CJ who was very patient and was able to answer all of our daughter's questions. For an extra positive note, they offer military discount. Which is very much appreciated, especially during these times. I am sure we will be back soon! read more

Bad service - ordered a hat online on cyber-Monday as a Christmas gift. I called twice to confirm sizing and if the hat was in stock. I was told it was in stock and available for purchase. as soon as the call ended, I finished the purchase. only to receive an email the next day that my ordered has been discontinued. not only do I have to wait weeks for a refund I will have to purchase the hat without any sales. the calls to prevent this was a waste of time, when I called back as the email requested, I was told "sorry don't know what happened, do you want to purchase something else at the same price". I'm not one to complain but the service and the frustration isn't acceptable. instore maybe a different story but buying online isn't trustworthy. read more

Best combination of tack and western wear around. I really like this store and have never had any issues with service or selection. Even though it's about an hour away, I go several times a year to pick up tack. The clothes (and bar) are a bonus. They also have a great selection of boots, including snake proof hunting boots. read more

This place is every equestrians dream! They have literally everything you could possibly need for riding, and they have a bar with wine-a-ritas, which makes shopping there even funner! I coulda spent my whole day there! Wish there was one closer to Austin. read more

We are a traveling rodeo show and South TX Tack is one of the best western stores we've ever come across. Keary was a great employee from helping us pick out new team roping ropes and even gave us some of his time with a roping lesson in the middle of the store! Awesome selection of ropes, hats, boots and clothing and theres even a beer and wine bar while you shop. Holly was very friendly as our cashier. 10/10 recommend read more

My wife bought a pair of boots here as a Christmas gift for me. They didn't fit, so I tried to return them for an exchange a few days after Christmas. I was surprised to see this place is shut down from Christmas through New Years - so much for customer service. I returned again when they finally reopened with the boots still in the box, tags still attached, unworn, with the receipt. The clerk and manager explained that they offer NO REFUNDS ON ANYTHING. They said it was in fine print on the receipt - given to you after they have your money. I asked my wife, and she said that no one said there was such a restrictive policy. In fact, she said she noticed a separate clearance room offering discounted items with a "no returns or refunds" sign, but did not shop in that section, since she knew there was a good chance that I would have to return the style/size. She said there were no conspicuous notices anywhere in the main store where she bought my boots at full price - not on sale/clearance, etc. The salesperson helping her also did not disclose this harsh no refunds policy. I've shopped here before, but will never again. We try to buy locally, and often pay much higher prices to do so. At the very minimum, we expect to have the most basic of customer service standards when buying locally. South Texas Tack's prices are already sky high. I can only imagine how they take advantage of the unsuspecting folks from Houston passing through. This is the kind of company that rips off tourists, and relies on weekend cowboys to stay in business. Don't shop here! I never will again! read more

Found what I needed for my horses. Then went in search of riding boots but found nothing that seemed useful for riding or actual ranch work! Very disappointed in their selection of women's boots. There are 4 checkout stations, only two operating with long lines. Stood in one line forever to check out and when the one on the other side finally opened up, I walked around to it and the two girls at the register there ignored me, chatting amongst themselves. When they finally noticed me standing there, one told me to "go around to the other side" and turned their backs to me and continued chatting. So I gathered my merch and shlepped back around to wait again on the other side...just as another customer walked up to the girls. They RANG HIM UP and he was out the door faster than me. Lol probably petty of me to mention it but it was ANNOYING AF. read more

Couldn't have asked for a better experience! I originally called this store to see if they did saddle fittings. Steve the owner helped me out and we scheduled a date for me to come in. Throughout the whole process he was so helpful. Going back and fourth and teaching me everything I needed to know with no guarantee I would buy something from him. I ended up leaving there that day with a few purchases (They had a ton of cute tack/clothes). Went home to think about it all and ended up going back to purchase a STT saddle. It was the best decision I could've made. The saddle is so beautiful and well made. It fits my horse perfectly and she's getting around the barrels better than ever! I would recommend this shop for anything you need especially saddles. If you ever have a problem just ask for Steve! read more

Disappointing service. Ordered custom hat. Was asked to come back for measurement...which I kindly obliged. Then came back, and said it was impossible. Went to a different store, and somehow they made the impossible - possible. The hat manager isn't customer service focused. He is all sales. If you are expecting typical Brenham hospitality, don't go there. read more

Good selection of merchandise. Employees were less than helpful and prices were HIGH! Even on sale items! Great to have another western store in the area but PLEASE lower your prices! If I drove to BCS, Cypress etc... the boots alone are $25-$50 cheaper at least! Worth the drive for that amount. So we recently received a catalog in the mail and got excited to try out a new tack shop- so we quickly jumped online and ordered a bunch of stuff! Amongst our items were 3 ropes (1 head, 2 heel). When we opened the box the hondues were turned pretty badly on the heel ropes- this looks due in part to poor packaging. I called to return/exchange. This is when I found out that they do not have return labels- and it cost us $19.95 to send these items back. The lady on the phone was helpful and took down specific notes about calling us BEFORE they returned our order (we were planning on exchanging). I ended up calling several times to see if they had even "checked in" our return... when I called nearly two weeks later they had...... but..... they had refunded our money. This was NOT what was in their notes- not what we wanted. Customer service was to get back to me, yet again, about exchanging our items. They still have yet to call us back. VERY dissatisfied with the whole situation! They have lost new business AND any referral business!!!! read more

Brought about $400 of merchandise from them, returned an item, they only give you store credit no refund. You can do better on Amazon. Hoping they go out of business there are better stores to buy from. Really poor customer service. Don't buy an item thinking can return and get your money back, you'll just get a store credit. I found a good source for tack in Bryan, Produces COOP. I won't ever grace their door again and I only live 5 miles from there store. BUYER BE WEAR. read more

Three stars because they have a wide selection of product. One star for their employees . I have a love hate relationship with this store. Love the shopping and browsing there but always dread dealing with the employees. As background we have between 60-70 horses on our farm and I am a trainer with my USEF judges card in three disciplines so I'm not totally an idiot ..well most days I'm not . Walked inside the store today and picked up several things inside but could not find any pitchforks .....so I asked " do you have any pitchforks " the employee's reply was " No we don't " . Hmmm... I thought that was strange . But, then the employee informed me that they do have MANURE FORKS and they were outside . The other problem is their cash registers. no matter which register I pile my merchandise at it has not once been the one they will ring me up at . So then I have to schlep everything to the other side of the square. The cashier will NOT help move it . Ugh read more

After having a bad experience with an Austin boot shop I stopped in here. They are great!! So helpful, friendly, and a great brand selection!!! To top it all off they are considerably cheaper. The same boots I bought in Austin were $80 cheaper here!!!! I can't believe they've been right down the road this whole time and I never went inside! read more
