Mr. Martin, I already sent this email to info, and also left it on the facebook. My goal is to help. You and your wife deserve people who lift your brand, not lower it. You two worked far too hard for this. I don't want anything from you. I just want you to know what is going on under your nose. I don't know you personally but you seem like a straight-up guy. And that I can appreciate.
Here is the email I sent to info@southtexastack.com.
I don't know who checks this email, so I am gambling. I don't think the girls in customer service do, but I am not sure about Shirley. I will send the next one to the owners.
This is the review I left on Indeed. This is the truth, and I would think Steve and his wife would like to know who is working for them.
Unlike Shirley, I have integrity and respect for what they built.
Here it is:
Watch out. Know what you are getting into. I just started five days ago in customer service where there is 3 women, including the supervisor Shirley. I read the other reviews about the back-stabbing gossiping nature of working there, but I risked it and took the job anyways. This review is strictly for the customer service department. I can't speak for the rest.
The supervisor Shirley hired me five days ago. I was the only male in a room of three women.
First day went fine. Second day seemed fine. The supervisor missed two days in a span of five.
On the third day, Shirley humiliated me in front of the other two girls. Scolding me for trying to figure why one of their programs we need, won't let us all log in, when it did for the first two days for me.
So I reached out to the company via live chat. I figured it out, and that is when she flipped out.
These are the things that should have been taken care of long before me, under her management.
That same day she said we are going to have a department meeting. We did. She publicly in front of the other two girls scolded me for trying to help and fix their problems. I had a hard time not losing it with this disrespectful little child. But I let her rant.
She then went on about how on the second day I seemed "irritated" with her because her method she tried on my computer did not work to add an automated signature to my two email addresses. My background is IT, and I did not get irritated. I know the right way to do it, and I was excited to teach her. In the "meeting" she acted offended and lied that I appeared irritated. I wasn't. I was completely friendly and a bit excited to do something valuable. That is who I am. She truly showed her insecurities.
She then said this might not be the right place for me--she said I probably belong in computers--but would give me until the end of the week (which she did not do) to be sure. She then proceeded to tell us all it isn't our jobs to fix anything else. "Our jobs are hard enough," she said, much to my dismay and bewilderment. Personally, I thought this job was relaxing and easy. I thought she was entitled.
I knew then she would fire me unjustifiably. But I kept trucking anyway. I told my girlfriend I am losing this job this week, when I got home that night, 35 miles away.
All things went calm, but then she asked one other girl which church she went to. Eventually she got to me. I responded hesitantly that I have been an atheist since 15. What followed was a bunch of questions from Shirley and Weslie. Questions like: Why are you an atheist, and when did your aha-moment occur? Etc.
I could clearly tell they did not like me.
My fourth day, Shirley was gone again, I started taking calls and I did excellent. I know when I do bad, and I know when I do good. I have been on the phones my whole life, and short of Stephanie, I was insulted to be judged by amateurs.
As I got to my fifth, my last day, as I saw Shirley do many times, she lowered her voice so nobody else could hear her insulting them. She warned me to be careful what I say around the graphics woman, and the picture woman (can't remember their names). "They can't shut their mouths--all they do is tattle."
She then worked on something regarding Facebook. She didn't know what she was doing, but I adapted and didn't offer help. She got frustrated and said: "I am tired of this shit. This might be my last month."
Everything was normal again. I stepped outside for an 8 minute break, with her permission. It was about 10:50. I got there and clocked in at 8:15 fir a company meeting.
When I came back in, she said when Stephanie gets back we are going to have another meeting. Shirley is incredibly predictable so I immediately texted my girlfriend that I am about to be fired. I then grabbed my bottle water and waited for the inevitable.
...and so it happened.
Again, I don't know about the rest of the staff. This was my experience in one small department. Keep in mind this experience, but also there are no benefits, no PTO, no sick time, no paid holidays, and only half of the aforementioned benefits after one year of working there. read more
