I feel that these types of churches are the non-denominational, accepting of anyone and everyone type of church. As I walked in I was immediately greeted and was offered some complimentary coffee. I was very pleased with the worship, for that is the one thing I really look for when attending new churches. I was even more moved by the message that related so much to what I'm going through with my family. I was literally smiling and holding back tears during the whole sermon because God truly found me a church to call my second home where I know I can get involved and be accepted by everyone. I felt more than welcomed at The Vineyard because everyone said hello or good morning and it's just that feeling where you've looked for so long and you nearly give up, BUT then you find that one church that will be one you look forward to every Sunday. I highly recommend you try this church out if you're looking for diversity (young, old, all ethnicity's, physically and cognitively impaired, and so many more lovely people), acceptance, and judgement-free individuals. The music is contemporary as the website explains and Pastor Donnell is AMAZING!!! If you want to really be moved by The Word then check out this church! :)

I really enjoyed and was blessed coming here during the 10am service. It was my first time here,…read moreand I always wanted to come to visit after seeing Bishop Don Shelby, Jr. (Senior Pastor) and his family on the reality tv show called Preachers of Detroit. I thought he was very genuine and I admired how he loves and spent time with his family. This is a nice church, and it wasn't as big as I though it was going to be. Which is great. I like smaller and medium size churches because usually its more personable and you don't get lost in the #'s. First of all we got here late, just at the end of worship (around 1030a) and as soon as we walked in we were greeted, and greeted again before going into the sanctuary. It was good being in the house of God w/ God's ppl. We came not to look for faults or to be a spectator, but a participator and for hearing and receiving a Word from God through the man of God. Bishop Shelby's message during this service was titled "In Between the Lines" which was a very simple but powerful message. It was timely and needed, and I thank god for his obedience to the Spirit of God. Being there, I sensed the presence of God, and the love they had for people. If I lived in the Detroit area I would definitely come back, and maybe even consider this house as a home church. I'm not saying this church is perfect, but it makes a difference when the Pastor has a heart after God.

The praise and worship is also excellent, I made the best decision when of my life when I joined.

I've been going to this event since 2019 because of my childhood friend Sophia and her mother, but this year was the first time I truly felt how unwelcome I was. As a 16-year-old girl of color in a space that is overwhelmingly white, I felt singled out in ways that were disturbing. An older man kept walking past and watching my sister and me, which made me feel unsafe. In prayer group, people stared at us with hostility, and no one would speak to us. Pastor Paul later spoke to my dad in a way that, in my opinion, misrepresented our behavior -- as if we were troublemakers -- even though we hadn't done anything wrong. It felt like we were being targeted simply because we looked different. This wasn't the first time my family has felt dismissed here. A couple of years ago, my sister told me she discovered her name was on a list made by teen boys at the church ranking girls sexually. When she reported it, the adults blamed her clothing instead of protecting her. Hearing "boys will be boys" while her pain was brushed aside showed me that this environment excuses bad behavior from some, while treating others -- especially girls, and especially girls of color -- as outsiders. I left camp feeling shaken, unwelcome, and judged for nothing more than my race and appearance. If you are a person of color or a young woman, I would not recommend this church. I do not believe your safety or your voice will be respected here.
