The ABSOLUTE WORST! This used to be Pangeare rental agency, now it's called CYM Living. The SAME practices under a different company. I feel that they pray on vulnerable tenants. It has the longest lease I have ever seen, so just might have signed my life away. Hello, update from my precious yelp review. I just had to pay rent in a unit that is not up to code. I feel that it's completely unfair and your property manager Magnolia has expressed that she's done all that she can do for me at this point. She said I should look outside of her zone. She showed me another unit that was down the street from me and it was nice and then ended up telling me that it was out of my price range. If there was a negative star, Pangea ER won the award for it. For the past year, every time it rains, the water pours into my place of business. Dirty, nasty, sewer water is pouring into the shop from the drainage system. Pictures and recordings of the downpours are sent to Pangea ER only for them to send out a guy that knocks on the pipes and leaves. I have to place a 50-gallon bucket in the center of the shop to catch the water, which my clients have to walk around, how embarrassing. This problem needs to be addressed by a professional plumbing company, which it appears Pangea does not want to do. Pangea ER is forcing me to reach out to the City of Chicago inspection department to get this problem fix. This is beyond awful for a company that claims they "Care", what a joke. read more

This is my honest opinion from a Senior Citizen. I stayed in there apartment at 7715 South Shore Drive, this is the nastiest place I ever lived in my life. I have never in my life seen that many roaches in my life. I mean roaches everywhere , in the refrigerator. Now, when you contact the mgmt office get somewhat upset and send someone out from there maintenance department with this weak stuff to they use and the roaches still don't go away. The building is in front of Rainbow beach lake area which you would think is nice but, you have people running down the hall in the building shouting. I had ti cover my refrigerator in plastic. This is the worst customer service I've ever encountered. First i received a letter informing me to renew my lease. The letter clearly says and i quote " please call the 1 800 number or SIMPLY STOP BY YOUR LOCAL OFFICE". So i stopped by and was told i had to make an appointment regardless of what the letter says. Mice problem in apartments that they say will be fixed every time they come, but never gets fixed. What they do is lay down poisoning so the mice can eat it and die somewhere to decompose. Very bad method. Instead of fixing a problem by doing maintenance work, they keep making this requiring issue. Heating is so questionable. NEVER GET ONE OF THERE APARTMENTS WITH A LOT FO WINDOWS. I've lived in a Pangea apartment for over 2 years now and I could not be happier with their service. When I first moved in, there was an issue with the heating system which caused it to flood. This was at the beginning of winter mind you. Pangea sent over their maintenance team and resolved the issue in one day. I was pretty impressed that we only went a couple hours without heat. I'm so pissed I flew into Illinois to get my keys & I get to the Unit & it's filthy as hell. Carpet is filthy has stains & clearly no one even bothered to do so much as sweep. Looks like somebody moved out and because they were fairly clean people Pangea thought it was ok to leave the unit as is. The tile on the kitchen floor is filthy as hell as well & so is under the fridge & stove. I go into one of the bedrooms & the window is broken they have a purple styrofoam placed in the window. If it's that serious to be that cheap it shouldn't be a business. This is a really nice apartment but they should have really cleaned this place up. Pangea building on 82? Independence is the worse place I've been in. When you come in the hallway it's nasty. They have rats mice & bedbugs. You can smell mold thru out the whole building!! When it rains the hallway floor & carpet is wet & you will fall & get hurt. When you call about a problem.. They give you the run around. And when they do come out they half ass fix things. I live in the property in Blue Island I knew when I heard Lumen / Pangea was taking over the property I knew then I was in trouble Pangea is known as slumlords I've had an issue with my Living Room heaters for about 3 months I put in 7 different work orders they came out change the thermostat it work for about 10 minutes and it stopped basically my to Living Room heaters work when it wants to work so I called Blue Island inspector he came out twice wrote them a ticket and I finally medium property manager he came out and saw that the heaters worked off and on the property manager called the owners and the owner said that the heater was old and it needs to be replaced I ended up calling the property manager today and he asked me was I turning on and off the heat so it can click on I said yes but I should have to do that and he end up telling me well if you want heat if that's what you were going to have to do until the owner get back with me I thin told him well let me get off the phone with you so I can call the Blue Island inspector and he told me and it doesn't make sense to going to call them and I told him it makes sense because any time the Inspector Calls you all on the same issue a ticket is wrote and then after so many ticks of court date so anybody that's looking to move into the looming / Pangea apartment please keep read more

If I could give zero stars!!! WHERE DO I START?! I was not able to tour the apartment in person due to COVID restrictions. The day before I moved in, I was told that I needed to verify my employment...imagine, organizing everything to prepare for a move and then being told that if you cannot verify you will not receive your keys. TERRIBLE BUSINESS. Then you call around and get a million different answers, no one is consistent about what's going on. Don't get me started on the "Zone Leader" Bill T. absolutely RUDE and for him to be in a leadership role (and I use that term LOOSELY), he knew absolutely nothing about the move in process. After all of this, I was able to verify my employment, but I should've taken that first incident as a warning sign. The building on East 73rd PL was in terrible condition. For starters, the front entrances did not lock and the mailboxes were pulled out of the wall and there were people ALWAYS loitering in the hallways. It was infested with rodents (you name it, I saw it) and the neighbors thought it was a good idea to throw their trash out of the windows! Fortunately for me, Magnolia L. was the awesome property manager and she gave me the option to move to another property or to mutually break my lease. After that experience, I had no interest in moving into any other Pangea sites and she was SUPER awesome and accommodating about letting me out of my lease from hell. I have lost so much It puts me in a uncomfortable place just thinking about it. I asked that bars or a security door be placed on the door that's continually been broken into. I was told I would I have to pay a fee. After all I lost I figured that could be the least they could do to keep me as a tenant. I applied for an apartment yesterday through them where they even called me to set up a leasing appointment to sign papers on the place since they said I had been approved. When I called them back today, they told me that the place had been placed under occupancy. So I feel like the leasing agent Brittany probably knew this before showing the apartment but decided to take the non-refundable fee anyway. I began working with Pangea on July 19, 2013. I submitted an application for an apartment along with income verification documents outlining my student financial aid. After submitting these documents and making no less than 25 phone calls over a three week period my application was finally processed and approved on August 5th. This was a full five days after the anticipated move in date that I have them. I repeatedly advised them that I would be moving from Texas to Chicago to attend graduate school. I felt that I had provided plenty of time to complete the application process based on previous apartment renting experiences. Obviously, I was wrong. Still, I remained patient and diligent despite the fact that I had been led to and mislead several times during the application process. I was assured that once I arrived in Chicago and had viewed an apartment that I liked immediate move-in would be possible. I was given this information by several employees at Pangea customer service. Once again, I was wrong. I arrived on the 10th of August only to find my appointment to view my chosen apartment had been canceled though no notification had been made. After a 22 hour, 1200 mile drive I was irritated, to say the least. After a failed attempt to get assistance with the issue and perhaps serry another appointment I finally got to a wonderful representative named Jade who found a property for me to look at. Upon viewing the property I knew that I would not feel comfortable in the area and declined it, choosing instead to go to an open house at another Pangea building in a more desirable area. I fell in love with an apartment that I was told was available only to be told later that it wasn't. Disheartened, I called back and got Jade again who made an appointment at another property. After viewing the next apartment and feeling comfortable with the neighborhood I advised the leasing agent that I would like to the the apartment and asked how long it would take to finish the paperwork and get keys. Move-ins are on the first and the 15th was get bored reply. WHAT?? This while time I had been told immediate move-in was possible and now I'm being told I can't move in for 5 days, 3 at the least. I'm homeless, I implored. No one listened. I was forced to spend an additional $156.26 on a room at the motel 6 for a three night stay. On August 13, after an all day wait I was finally handed the keys to my apartment and allowed to move my stuff in. Now, this is where it gets really bad. I did my part and called the utility companies. I had the electricity changed to my name and called the gas company to have the gas turned on. The next appointment I could get was August 27th, 2013. Not ideal for someone with a chronic gastrointestinal disorder and strict diet, but what could I do. On the day of my appointment the gas company came and I called the office to gain access to the utility room, which I was never advised I had to do I had to figure that out on my own. A "request was sent" for a maintenance person to come and open the door. No one ever came, and as I later found out a request was never sent. Needless to say, the gas company left and I spent the next few hours trying to get people to understand my situation and assist me. The gas company added my request for service to a route for the 29th and I thought this would be solved. WRONG AGAIN. The had company came at 4:05 pm at which point I was advised that utility appointments end at 4 and there was not a soul available to open the utility room door. I apologized for wasting the man's time and sent him on his way. I then spent the next hour relaying my plight to Pangea in a succinct yet colorful way only to be met with ignorance and apathy. I topped pdf my night by sending an email to my property manager. I have now made a third appointment with the gas company to begin service. By the tinge that appointment comes I will have been without gas for three weeks. I have gotten do many assurances from this company that turn out to be lies I can't trust them as far as I can throw them. Their "customer service" is nothing but a goat rodeo of uncaring, unknowledgeable, untrained imbeciles who can't answer the simplest of questions, and my lease is shady at best. Pangea's corporate slogan is "Service. Value. Care. One resident at a time." I have gotten no service. This company had no value. They don't give a damn annoy their tenants as once you are in an apartment you ate just one of the herd of many other residents. BUYER BEWARE. read more

They advertised a promotion online stating that there was no move in fee if lease was signed withing 24 hours. I was approved and scheduled for a lease signin within 24 hours and they stated that the townhome was no longer availible. A couple of hours later, I saw an advertisement on Craigslist for the same exact townhome. They also continue to advertise this townhome on their website.They then stated that they would contact me when the next townhome becomes availible, but I would no longer qualify for the no move in fee promotion because the "special" expires soon. I have rats coming into my apartment...and pangea doesn't solve the problem, but only add to it as i have called them several times to resolve the issue..... but the come several dayssssss later and never resolves the mice are entering... they dont care about my family well being... floor boards in the living room are broke(they have carpet masking the floorboards) and i reported it in the spring of '19 and Pangea still haven't fixed the rotten floor boards, eventhough the agent on the phone said they would be replaced immediately..... along with drafty windows that aren't installed properly, leaving my apt bitterly cold in the Winter.... I believe the mice are getting in through the broken floor boards and i will be calling the City Health dept as soon as Monday comes... and Pangea is charging me for water by including the bill in my monthly rent ... I just read they dont charge for water though???!!!! I dont recommend this company to anyone!!! I keep telling them how freezing cold we are every single day and how they do not turn these radiators on often enough to give us heat. They are freezing us out of here! I sleep with space heaters and the stove on! The night 2 weeks ago it was so cold in here my kids took their sleeping bags into the KITCHEN AND SLEPT IN FRONT OF THE OVEN!!! We are freezing! And now my son is sick! I have been complaining to them for a month about the fact that they do not turn on these radiators often enough! It is currently 3:05am and im freezing ! I have been home since 8:30pm and the radiators have not been on once! I have called 311 4 times and 311 says they get complaints on them daily! They do not care about families!
