    Hello, update from my precious yelp review. I just had to pay rent in a unit that is not up to code. I feel that it's completely unfair and your property manager Magnolia has expressed that she's done all that she can do for me at this point. She said I should look outside of her zone. She showed me another unit that was down the street from me and it was nice and then ended up telling me that it was out of my price range. That unit should be given to me at what I'm paying as a courtesy for having to occupy the current unit in these conditions. I would like to speak to an owner regarding this.

    Pangea, I will be reaching out to a corporate manager, and the city of chicago. Due to my issues and concerns in my unit. Two months has gone by and I am still dealing with an issue from November. I have called numerous times. To get a response but nothing gets done, My property and personal belonging have been damaged from careless techs who have came in the unit. That have overlooked looked detail, doing quick patch work. It is very upsetting, that you pay your money to be disrespected. I am not dealing with anymore craziness. When it comes to my lively hood and and tenent rights. I have my photos, videos ect, to back up my story and my case.

Remember: You did not get paid because you did not understand his interface. Paul moved in a tenant without my knowledge or consent. Paul collected a move in fee. Paul collected first month's rent. Paul collected second month's rent. Paul lied about it. When I confronted Paul about it, he cussed at me like a 5th grade bully, explaining that it was my fault. I had to fire him.

Paul was completely unprofessional and nearly impossible to get in touch with. The guy (Stephan Iwaniec aka Steve) he had showing my places also would not answer calls and even posted the wrong pictures of my units in the terrible listings he made! After several failed call attempts and voice messages over several days I sent Steve a text message asking to call me - he immediately replied asking who I was. I emailed Paul to let him know I would no longer be needing his services and he never responded. However, I did get a text from Steve the next day asking if I still wanted him to rent out my units. Unprofessional. There's a number of other issues/red flags I could list but what's the point - avoid this company if you can. My initial vibe was off about Paul and I'm grateful I didn't sign the bogus contract he sent or I would be stuck with him. Paul and Steve are money hungry and not worth the trouble. Also, be cautious of Paul's references cause they seem to be shady as well (Anne P., etc.). Overall, this was a terrible experience and complete waste of time. I'm still looking for a property manager with only a week left before I move out of state.

My mother in law is currently…read morein a dispute with them regarding a deposit on an apartment she never even signed a lease on. She went there late last month to rent an apartment after she found a Facebook post about renting apartments for $199. she went to them on Friday, February 22 and paid a deposit of $150 and another $200 for "rent" via money orders with the understanding that she would return to sign a lease the following Monday. Over the weekend she was advised to not to move because of her finances (she is on a fixed income)  she would not be able to afford the rent at the time. On Monday February 26th, she went back to the property and spoke with Patricia (the property manager who took her deposit and had assisted her with applying for the apartment) and told her of her situation. Patricia stated at that time that she could not refund her monies because the funds had already been sent off to "corporate". At that time there was a verbal agreement between them regarding her being able to apply those funds towards an apartment after her surgery sometime in April. My mother in law went to Housing and spoke with her case worker regarding this matter and the case worker called the property and spoke with Patricia who then told the case worker a different story regarding her fees. Patricia told the case worker that my mother in law never qualified for the $199 move in special that was advertised and that the special was only for the month of February anyway. My mother in law was never advised of this prior to the conversation with the case worker which changed her mind completely about moving in because she could not afford the full amount of rent with her income. At that time she asked for a full refund and was told that the security deposit was non refundable but she would have to sign a document to release the funds for rent. On Friday March 9th, my mother in law contacted me regarding this issue and I was with her on the phone as she went back to receive her refund. I personally spoke with Patricia at that time and asked her why were they not refunding the security deposit as well as the other fees and initially she had no problem discussing the matter with me but her "regional manager" advised her to stop speaking with me although my mother in law (who was there in the office) gave verbal confirmation that she could discuss it with me. At that time my mother in law kept me on the phone during the conversation so I overheard everything that was said that day. The manager kept telling her that it was corporate policy and that my mother in law needed to contact them regarding why they couldn't refund her deposit and then she was told that it was to take the apartment off the market  (mind you this was only 2 business days) she was never told (nor is it in writing anywhere) that the security deposit is non refundable. The manager confirmed this by reading over the lease agreement ( that was never signed) and at that time she decided to tell my mother in law that she would return all her monies to her. She had my mother in law sign the document for the refund and she left. I then advised her to return to the office and get a copy of the document she signed. She received her copy and was told that corporate would refund her money in 7-10 business days. On Monday, my mother in law was told that her refund was in the office and that she could come pick it up. She went to the office and was given the same money orders that she originally gave to them to obtain the apartment. She spoke with me and I thought it strange but figured that maybe they never cashed the money orders. That same day she goes to cash the orders and was told that they have had already been cashed. She immediately called me and I attempted to call the number I was provided with as "corporate". It was a Google voice number. I called the office number only to have the "regional manager" be extremely short and rude about confirming the number Patricia gave me on Friday afternoon. After she told me that the corporate number was correct and that I should just leave a message and someone will call me back, she stated to me then that my mother in law would have to wait 7 business days and at that time she would be able to receive a refund and cash her money orders. I told her what I was told and advised my mother in law to call the company she got the money orders from and confirm that this could even be done. She called the following day and of course she was told that it could not be done. Seeing that she is on a fixed income, she does not have the money to be able to take a loss on over half her income. Someone needs to shut these scam artists DOWN! Update: I did a quick Google search and I saw they just had the property condemned in late January because the tenants were without heat for a month until it was reported by a tenant to a local news station.

I remember thinking how attentive and patient she was during our conversation and that put me at ease. After discussing her credentials we proceeded to schedule an appointment. Upon our first meeting she came ready to work and access the damage. We knew our home needed work and Sandra gave us some "tough love" ideas and assignments. She was so professional and yet friendly and told us what we needed to do to get the best value for our home. What I also like about Sandra is how she'd make suggestions and ask for our input. She made us feel as though we were a part of the process and not just sitting on the sideline, even though we usually leaned in her favor. Although Sandra had other clients and responsibilities she was accessible and proactive. She's extremely skilled in the market and very conscientious. She has a very keen sense for detail that I've truly learned to appreciate. She doesn't settle for mediocrity and that's an invaluable quality in any real estate agent. We've since met Sandra's requirements and recommendations and we're beyond pleased. Sandra's an excellent Real Estate Agent and I would put her up against any top agent in the country. That's just how great she is!!!!!!!

    I have lived in Chicago now for just short of three years, and as I write this review today, I have…read morevisited the South Shore neighborhood only a few times. Those times were to view apartments and to get a feel of the overall neighborhood itself at the same time. What I can say about South Shore neighborhood is that it's beautiful and has lots of potential, but yet it does have it's grimy areas like many other Chicago neighborhoods. Another thing I can say is that I did get a taste of its worse area, and also one of Chicago's dangerous areas, which is 'Terror Town'. Area's that I fell in love with were it's Metro access area, which brings a unique classy feel; the South Shore Cultural Center, and Jackson Park Harbor, which is the first major landmark before entering the neighborhood itself. The name 'South Shore' alone brought curiosity to me as to what this area was like, so I had to add this area on my apartment search list. I end this with the thing this neighborhood lacks is diversity, which is something that I've experienced my entire life. If it had just as much diversity as Hyde Park, and many area's on the north side it would totally be one of Chicago's A+ neighborhoods.

    The South Shore Area is suppose to be up and coming, I just wonder how much longer will it be up…read moreand coming! There are many neighborhoods worst than the South Shore but that doesn't mean that South Shore is without its fault! I know many people who have bought condos waiting for things to change and this area just isn't the area it use to be when I was younger! Its sad I'm old enough to remember what it use to be before all the abandoned buildings and business and I just hope that in my life time things get better!
