I have to admit that this is one review that I agonized over writing, but it is through these reviews that many of us judge establishments of food, retail, and child care, and how we also come to narrow down our choices to those who really understand the meaning of great customer service. And this turmoil was not because my entire experience with Kindercare was bad (for over two years it was actually a good day care center), but one incident was disappointing enough for me to pull my two -year old immediately from their care.
After picking up my son I discovered that he had suffered a fall of some kind, one bad enough for him to have a sizable bump on his forehead and with a look that was severe enough for me to have been contacted immediately after it occured.
Nothing of this sort took place. I actually noticed the injury while driving him home. Of course my exact response was what many parents would have done, and that was to go back for answers and this is where the writing of this review was made manifest.
When something happens to a child that cannot speak for themselves, the only thing that a parent wants is the truth. It is the establishing of this fact that will determine which way the parent will react and the course of action taken after.
When I enquired about the bump on my son's head, I was told that it occurred from a fall and that ice was applied. This statement, in my opinion was not the whole truth. First, two-year olds fall repeatedly and my son is no exception. Second, my son's injury had the trappings of him hitting something hard and possibly unforgiving, and that ran counter to what I was told he hit. To give the lump that I observed and felt, what he ran into or fell against was not a rubber matted floor.
Now, was my son on his deathbed? No. And I have not written this review to scare anyone or disparage Kindercare from receiving future business. My anger comes from the lie that was told to me about my son's injury, the way it was handled before and after, and the disappointment from two years of my patronage thrown to side.
There is that old saying regarding how much time it takes to get and retain a customers loyalty, and how quickly that loyalty can be lost. I can only hope Kindercare heeds these words going forward with regards to their customer service policies. read more
