Wow, what an absolute gem to find! Off the beaten path, but well worth the excursion to try Chef Michael Laus 4 course tasting menu simply titled "this one" or "that one." The atmosphere is quite relaxed without an enforced dress code. Most diners were in jeans and a button shirt paying homage to the Chef's wishes to enjoy the food without any of the traditional formalities. And did I not mention SoulFood earned a well deserved 1 Michelin Star in 2022?!! So I definitely recommend the restaurant for a place in indulge without the stress of 'dressing for the occasion.' The tasting menu is seasonal and always changing, and one would be lucky to try the level of sophistication coming out from this kitchen. The dining area is relatively small and I believe they only sit one cover a night; so reservations are a MUST! We came with a party of four, and the tasting menu was at a relative bargain at $89 euros given that the tax and tip is include (although we did still tip a little more for the superb hospitality!). The tasting menu started a couple of amuse which only gets you mouth watering for the mains! All of courses displayed the essence of "NYC" uniqueness and cooked to perfection. We paired each course was an amazing selection of local wine that were less than $5 euros a pour, and these pours were HEAVY. There was added flare with the tableside presentations and Chef Laus greeted and served at least one dish to everyone in the restaurant! One of the best restaurants in the upper palalintate (Oberpfalz). The presentations are superb, ambience is nice, the food and desserts are top notch and the staff are very friendly! The menu is in Deutsch, but the staff speaks English and can translate fluently all the dishes on the menu! My first visit was back in 2012 and was impressed with service and quality of the meals. The prices are moderate, but can elevate if you select 3-4 course meals that are on the menu. Reservations are recommended due to the space, popularity and great selections on the menu card! Mein Name ist "Restaurant SoulFood" und man findet mich ganz leicht im Herzen von Auerbach in der Oberpfalz, am Unteren Markt, direkt neben dem Rathaus. Meine Inhaber Christine Heß und Michael Laus haben mich vor ungefähr zwei Jahren , am 24. März 2012 mit einem tollen Event eröffnet. Von Anfang an bin ich gut besucht und ich würde mich freuen, wenn auch Sie meine Gäste wären. Auch der Gault Millau (15 Punkte) und der Gusto (6 Pfannen) sowei der AralSchlemmerAtlas haben mich entdeckt. Michael steht in der Küche und kocht viele leckere, frische Sachen, die im ständigen Wechsel auf der eher kleinen, aber feinen Speisenkarte stehen. Es gibt kleinere Gerichte, die man entweder selbst kombinieren kann oder man entscheidet sich für "DasEine" oder "DasAndere" Menü. Das Konzept besteht darin Spitzengastronomie zu einem kleinen Preis anzubieten. Produkte und Zutaten in höchster Qualität laden Sie ein Neues kulinarisch für sich zu entdecken. Dabei ist man nicht auf eine Richtung festgelegt und hat viel Spielraum für Events mit unterschiedlichem Charakter. Christine kümmert sich um den Service, berät gerne bei der Menüauswahl und findet den passenden Wein aus den besten Anbaugebieten dazu. Die Beiden haben sich nun mit mir ihren Traum eines eigenen Restaurants erfüllt. Ich bin gespannt, ob ich Sie ein wenig neugierig habe machen können und würde mich auf einen Besuch von Ihnen richtig freuen.
