This is similar, but a little more involved - you get to create adorable, rustic wooden signs and platters. We kicked off our girls' getaway weekend with an early Saturday morning class. HOW IT WORKS: You go to their website and choose which class you want to attend. You choose which board/item you want to create and pay right there online. It's $65 - so it's a little pricier than the canvas type paint classes but worth it for what you create. PAINTING DAY!: When you arrive, you go to your table where all of our boards are lying on top. The wood was naked because we were going to sand them, stain them, stencil them and then paint them ourselves. You put on an apron, and the teacher guides you through each step. They already have the stencils cut (since you picked your board in advance), and so it's a pretty seamless process. There are examples of boards all over the room for inspiration. I loved my final product! It was a 3 hour process, but it was fun and went by fast. They have various drinks you can order to your table (the ladies at the table next to us all ordered a bunch of beers - at 10:00 a.m. - starting early I guess). Since it was my birthday, they took a photo of our group, holding our signs, while I held a board that said I celebrated my birthday at Board and Brush. :D They also gave us punch cards, so that you get a free class once you attend so many classes. I'm not sure I'll be making THAT many boards, but I definitely will do one again sometime! My board looks perfect in my living room!

They give you printed step by step instructions to follow and all of the supplies. Someone is always there if you need help. They do loaded brush night where you can bring food and alcohol and paint a predetermined painting all led by an instructor. They have mixed media projects which are really fun. There is a gallery upstairs of local artist work and is great to browse during class breaks. The owners, Tabatha and Therese, are amazing and very passionate. My moms group does private parties frequently and have taken classes with both instructors. Both are awesome, patient and wonderful at teaching people like me with no experience at all. I have done loaded brush night and mixed media. Can't wait to try open studio. One huge tip- Public calendars come out every month on the 8th for the following month. The class was small so there was more individual attention to our art, along with personal and great conversation with the owner/artist/instructor. She offers a variety of classes in different mediums so there is something for everyone. And if you have had limited art classes as I have, coming here with personalized instruction is perfect.
