We were told that they didn't have volunteers to run it. Hmmmm... the Mercantile had a wide selection of merchandise from decor to jewelry and even some antique furniture way in the back. We enjoyed shopping and even brought home a mid-century magazine stand that had been using as a display at the front of the store. We enjoyed our visit but it seemed incomplete without the soda shop experience.

They had some interesting cars a lot of Ford products some obscure Ford products from the 60s, as well as the ubiquitous muscle cars and 59 Cadillac convertible. The museum also had a second floor with baseball cards and memorabilia, however they have an unhealthy obsession with the Texas Rangers. Did I mention it was 45 minutes outside of Abilene, which is already outside of many cities. My only complaint is the overboard proselytizing.

Inside, this place is so cohesive and "put together". That the whole time I was there I never picked up on the fact that it is actually comprised of over 100 different vendors. The place just flowed so smoothly and so beautifully. It's huge, so it flowed for over 12,000 square feet. I saw everything from home decor, bath & body products, jewelry, clothing, a place to customize olive oils, candies, nuts, and more! The bouquet was beautifully put together with vibrant colors and you can tell that the florist really showed some care for how they put the basket together. This bouquet has lasted several days so far and is still looking beautiful on day 6 and the lilies are just now fully bloomed. I looked over some of the items they have and I'm impressed by what they provide I'll definitely be buying some from them after seeing the quality of the flower bouquet.
