On the downside the store is a little cramped which means if its busy you might fel a litte claustrophobic but everything is laid out well despite this. Becuase this is one store from a country wide chain its worth taking note of the notice as you enter the store, online prices are often cheeper then the ones in store, if you take in proof of an online price then they will happily sell a product at that price. Whats more they will even refund your parking charges even if you don't purchase anything, as long as you are a genuine customer. Customer service seems second to none but because of the cramped conditions when busy i can't quite give the store five out of five.

To Sum Up: It Sells it all and for a reasonable price…read more Maplins is where i normally head to when i need some sort of electircal componant whether it be a transfere cable a power cord or a new companant for my pc. the deals that you find in maplins are not often beaten by any other high street name and you cannot beat there customer service, when i had three succesive failure with a bluetooth dongle they offered to upgrade to a better version without me having to pay the difference. they stock pretty much everything electronic from toys to pc parts to audio and lighting equipment. The staff are allways happy to help and will often lend advice and tell you about things that you didnt consider.

CEX is a great place to pick up some good deals on preowned music and DVDs, i wouldn't buy any…read moreelectrical goods like phones etc. from them though as they tend to be over priced, especially considering they're second hand. The Music in the store isn't exactly to everyones taste mostly being heavier rock numbers but if you can put up with it for a few minutes you normally pick up some good deals. The staff are often helpful and will normally replace cd cases etc should they be in poor condition, the only thing being that you do sometimes get the occasional that seems like they would rather be sticking pins i their eyes then serving you.

So today I went to trade in my netbook, had to make two trips as I wasn't aware you had to bring in…read moreID, so once I finally got everything I needed I was told 'testing' would take 2 hours, I waited two hours in town then went back expecting the testing to be finished, but no it hadn't they said the charger cable which I had used the day before and they checked before it went into there hands was now broken, they said it was my fault but how as the cashier checked it before they denied any accusations as the cable has clearly been cut, they said it must have been damaged in transport but I think I have enough intelligence to not store a netbook and cables with sharp objects. I…read morebought a game (fifa 14) for my son for christmas on the playstation 4 from the chesterfield store in early december and only a few days ago his console broke and we have had to send it off for repair, my son really wanted to play the game in the meantime so he asked if i could get it for his playstation 3 that he still has, usually we would have to make him wait but he was very upset with the whole thing..you know what 9 year olds are like! Knowing that it would cost a lot of money we decided to trade in the PS4 copy towards a PS3 copy then we could afford to get it back on pay day as our car recently needed to go for repair so we aren't blessed with much money at the minute, a friend told me that a new store had opened up in Sheffield so i took the game there as it's closer to where we live and took the game with me. I was greeted by a lovely guy who served me and i got the price on the game, which obviously had dropped quite abit from what we paid for it, reluctantly i agreed and as he was checking the disc out we were making small talk and i told him the situation with the game and the car, after a minute of telling him everything he told me that as a goodwill gesture (and since the receipt was still inside the box) he was going to allow me to swap the game over at the current price of the game (which was much higher than the part exchange price!) and give me the rest on a credit note so that i could get my son something extra to cheer him up. I understand that this won't happen every time i go in but it was a very lovely touch and much appreciated, i could afford to get my son £20 worth of PSN credit which he was very happy about! A 5* service, i'll be doing my shopping here from now on

Currys PC World at the large Meadowhall mall in Sheffield is a fairly small branch (for Currys PC…read moreWorld) standards, albeit this is slightly typical for their branches located inside shopping malls, based on experiences at other branches such as Manchester Arndale's Currys PC World store. I didn't find the staff at this store to be too friendly or helpful, I orginally struggled to find the printers because the selection was that small. The laptop section was also lacking, with very few gaming laptops other than one Alienware, I'm a fan of the HP Omen myself and sadly unlike some branches it didn't appear to be stocked here. The overall feel of the store was pretty typical for a Currys PC World store, this branch appeared to be slightly nicer and more modern than the Manchester Arndale branch however. Decent overall feel of the store and a cool store to add to the already long list of what Meadowhall offers but due to issues with the selection in areas such as gaming laptops and printers, even Apple products, I feel this store only deserves a two-star rating.
