The entire church community welcomed our family of seven with open arms, and we quickly formed meaningful friendships, including for our kids. We feel incredibly blessed to have found this gem of a church. We joined a "life group" right away, which helped us understand the church's values and direction. God's presence is truly felt here, and we are grateful to call this our church home. Although I wasn't attending this church during the COVID-19 pandemic, I know there is a live YouTube stream available at 11 AM on Sundays. Due to a past surgery that removed my spleen, I'm considered "high risk," and I did contract COVID-19, but thankfully, I recovered well. "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" - Matthew 6:27 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;" - Proverbs 3:5 The Nehushtan was a metal serpent mounted on a staff that Moses had made, by God's command, to cure the Israelites of snake bites while wandering in the desert. There is no medical explanation it is just God watching over his sheep. I believe the Serpent on the Staff represents the staff Moses through in front of the Pharaoh that turned into a snake... God turned wood... into a living reptile... I don't think I will ever understand that.

I have been going to First Baptist Church for almost three years now. We had just moved into the area, and the Womens Ministry had a baby shower for me, just a short 7 months after I started attending the church. By the loving actions of various people in the church, as well as the church establishment, I have had help moving, help with car problems, help paying a heating bill, and also have had people in the church take care of my children when I needed it. I have always been encouraged, but never pressured to get involved in ministry which, by the grace and leading of God, I am able to do in several ways. There is a large elderly population here, but also a growing number of young families and a staff that really cares about seeing people grow in their faith and encourages people to get out there and do the work that God has for you. If you are looking for a church, I would strongly suggest checking this one out. These people take "Church Family" very seriously!

The preaching is always top-notch from the senior pastor to the associate pastors. Their children's church is great too! Lots of activities and interaction. They have a men's breakfast once a month, and women's bible study every week. They also have a mid-week service as well. This church does quite a bit of outreach as well. We previously attended a very large church in Beaverton so this has been quite the change! Some of the big differences which are super nice are; they serve a lunch after the last service (they serve something after the first one too) and there is outdoor seating and a playground for the kids to play on after, they have a self serve coffee bar with flavored creamer, people wear name tags and the church members take time to get to know new people and they are super genuine! They also provide meals for low income families at the elementary school down the road and short them in many ways! It seems like they truly want to build community. The youth department is great so far. It's small, but growing! The volunteers are super nice and they are almost done creating a sensory room for their additional needs program. (It's super cool inside.) We are still learning about the church, but we do look forward to going each week!

St Andrews is a welcoming community of loving families that care about the bigger community outside…read morethe church walls. The executive director of the local social service agency, Neighborhood House, has declared St Andrews as a key leader in the community supporting the agency's work. The church led the faith community in creating an annual food drive for the Neighborhood House food bank. Members also volunteer with children in transitional housing or Headstart. Every member participates in helping the Portland community in some way as volunteers or donors. This church is open to all and visitors will find a friendly reception. The sermons are thoughtful, provocative, and educational. You don't have to leave your brain at the door, as one of our prior pastors stated.
