Now half hour later and still waiting. Very confusing to be at the top of the list and still not being called back? If others don't make appointments like suggested and I do, why am I waiting?

In recent year notable changes to staffing and and switching to electronic sign in we just kind of accepted as the new norm. However, I have noticed that not having someone readily available at the front counter seemed somewhat problematic to some patients. Also, frequent outages of one or both of the electronic log in stations caused some confusion of significant backups in signing in. Most recently reduced to one sign it station instead of two caused a significant back up. This is especially awkward for folks with significant problems with touch finger typing on the electronic key board. Maybe a ID card and swipe system would be more efficient. This is my real complaint: On July 15th, 2025 my wife and I came in to get her labs done. We left with two things which required that we come back with test samples she would take at home then deliver them back to our Sonora Lab (urine sample and stool test sample). We returned the samples the next day, late morning (at a time when patient crowed would be normally low) based on passed experience. I waited in the car while my wife went in to deliver her samples. My wife is 91 years old but still quiet agile and cognitive. When she came out she was very upset and told me she had just been rather harshly scolded by one of the staff. This because, there was no one available to ask where or what to do with the samples. She was however familiar with the sample deposit station located in the lab area by the rest rooms. She proceeded through the main lab door to deliver or find someone to take the samples. She was immediately approached by one of the lab technicians and scolded by that person for entering the area which was posted not to enter and that she was suppose to wait for someone to come out and see what she needed. From my previous experience when coming into the lobby at an empty (no or low patient count), without doing an electronic sign-in and nobody at the reception window left you very few options to get someone's attention that you were there. Jumping up and down in front of the reception window usually did not work so even if not protocol, opening the door to the lab seemed a convenient option to get attention. It is not our (patients) fault that you choose not to provide a person at the reception window to save a few dollars which would prolly not significantly effect your bottom line financially, but might show a little thoughtful respect for your clients or even perhaps delivery or people just making inquires. (Just Saying) My wife is a very kind and respectful person she made (maybe a mistake), She did not deserve to be chastised in the cruel way that she was. She was not threatening, was not armed, is very small and demure. For the last few nights since the incident she has woken up because of nightmares from the incident. It will probably take her some time to get over her embarrassment (that is just the kind of person she is). Do you really think that your employee needed to be that cruel in dealing with her mistake? I would think someone who chooses a career as a care giver would not spur such self righteous indignation on another human being. I am both angry and disappointed by what happened to her. I just don't understand people like this. I know there is not much I can do about this, hopefully you can. Maybe a reception person is not such a bad idea. I will just share this story as many places as I can, hopefully in will make a difference for someone sometime.
