One of the orders came out 5 minutes after we arrived and then when we explained to one of the employees that we needed our other order. She told us that she would be right out. 1 hour later the cops were called. EXTREMELY under staffed. The second drink that was requested was made incorrectly. Number one they have signs all over saying dining room is closed. We stopped there because my son wanted a Cherry Limeaid. We had to go thru the drive thru. The service was horrible. We waited for 15 minutes just to get to the speaker then another 15 minutes before we got to the window and received his drink. If there was a way to give a negative number, I would. Wasted my time again today, trying to simply get 2 things, at the window the person on the intercom never seems happy than to get to the window to hand the card and sit there for 8-10 mins to only find out their system was down.. and has been down for a bit today so it was cash only. I've now wasted my 30 min lunch, pulled away disappointed and hungry, for a mistake that could have been handled a lot better if this place had great customer service. I made a yelp account purely to leave a review about the smithfield location and how abysmal the service was here. After waiting at stall #7 for 30 minutes and pressing the button four different times, we decided to go through the drive through. Our order consisted of 4 items and a drink, which i would typically not order that much food in a drive through but was forced to since no one would answer the drive up stall. As I said my order, the worker taking my order SIGHED at me and told me with attitude to pull up. When I received my order, items were missing out of the bag that we were charged for and one item was completely missing from our receipt and bag. I drove up at 11:15 to order a shake (they close at midnight) and when I placed my order I was told the machines were down and they couldn't make any shakes. I know for certain they weren't busted because it was working properly early in the evening and the following afternoon right when they opened. This was clearly because the closing staff didn't want to stay late to clean and shut them down early. This isn't how you should run a business. Not only are you disrespecting customers but you're losing money. If the machine was busted, a sign would've been put on the menu or it would've been mentioned before placing the order. Also, the previous time I went there one afternoon there was nobody in line before me or at a stall and it took nearly 8 minutes for a medium banana while I could hear 3 employees carrying on a casual conversation. 2 Stars, because it tastes good and the food is sanitary... I won't leave bad reviews until I give the place more than one chance. I've had 4 experiences here that I can remember. 1) Opening day. I ordered 3 shakes. It took an hour, half of that after I ordered. I figured it was busy. And the place was new. 2) We ordered several hot dogs for everyone at home on half-price hot dog day. Noticed they only took off the first one. Called within 2 hours. Was told by the manager that too much time had passed and they couldn't help us. After calling headquarters we got a discount coupon. We just wanted half priced hot dogs... Lots of time on the phone to be talked down to for nothing. 3) I took my son and his friend for dinner. The wait was long but the food was good. It's ok. 4) Tonight. I got there for half-priced shakes. I ordered 2 medium shakes (1 plain, 1 master blast), and a small limeade. It took 17 (yes. SEVENTEEN!) minutes from placing our order to receiving it! The story we received was that a new guy was making shakes and dropped all the drinks not once, but twice. I wish that I felt this was an anomaly, but I'm thinking not so much... I've been to other Sonics (VA,TN,OH) and this one just doesn't run like the others. Maybe it will improve someday. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. I have became a regular at this location for about two months. Last night I went, and I am appalled. My burger was bit into, and had everything that I didn't ask for on it. On top of that, the door to the establishment in the back was open. All I saw was nothing but garbage, and dirty floors. A worker was smoking weed outside by the drive through. The employees are unprofessional. Drive thru worker had her uniform shirt cropped and her stomach was hanging out. Sad what has happened to this Sonic location. I have been here a few times and always enjoyed it. I was in the mood for a shake tonight so I figured the half price after 8 deal would hit the spot. She says "oh f%$%" and turns around to where my shakes had been done this whole time. I was completely forgotten about and she actually thought it was acceptable giving me these nasty melted sloppy drinks that were sitting on the counter for 25 minutes. I pull into the drive in and ask to speak to a manager. A worker comes out who isn't management and rudely tells me they've had 20 minute tickets all day so oh well. My issue wasn't the wait..I'm very patient and polite.I had a problem with my shake melting and turning sour due to their ignorance of leaving me hangin, but she was too illiterate to understand that. I asked for a refund and refused to drink that sick looking drink. She made no effort to make another shake, there was no apology. Horrible attitude and zero f's given. Went in the drive thru tonight around 9pm. Waited a few minutes to place my order which is fine, I've worked in the food industry before so I get how it can be before closing time. The girl proceeds to take my order and sounded SUPER annoyed the entire time, "anything else, anything else, anything else" getting louder and sounded more annoyed each time I added something (I only came for three things). I ended up just driving off, because I'm not risking getting my food spat on because someone is annoyed with having to do their job. This location is AWFUL. So many bad experience at this sonic. A few weeks ago I waited over an hour and a half for a drink and a pretzel because I ordered online, went into a stall, and waited for it to be brought out but turns out they were doing drive though only so after waiting 30 minutes I had to go sit in the drive through for an hour and wait. That was my first truly bad experience at this location. Today, I went to get a cranberry limeade and when I got it, the sprite they use in it was out of syrup. We told the girl on the speaker and asked if she could remake it (assuming she would switch out the syrup). No problem she said yes and brought out another drink. I got my second (remade) drink and it tastes just as bad as the first. It tastes like seltzer water with a hint of cranberry. If a customer tells you that the machine is out of syrup, do not just give them another drink again without replacing the syrup in the machine, like hello? how stupid can one be??? read more

We had a 14th birthday party yesterday for my son and Lexi went above and beyond to help make it a great party! We placed a pretty good size catering order with specific instruction for a variety of items and she did a great job! The kids loved having a choice or burgers, mozzarella sticks, hotdogs, pretzels, popcorn chicken etc and everything was individually wrapped so they could grab and go and continue to have fun! It was great to not have to stand over a grill all day! She even packed all of the condiments in little special birthday boxes! Even the parents enjoyed the food! Better Than McDonalds I know I have spoken pretty harshly about Sonic lately. This is the first location to open in RI. I waited for basically 3 months and several foolish traffic jams in front of the place later to finally try this chain. I have to say the food is ok. Seems to be a better quality product than McDonalds or Taco Bell, but that isn't saying a whole hell of a lot. I recommend the place for a weekend late night burger fix when you be a bit inebriated and not be overly judgmental about quality and taste. The thing that boggles my mind is a chain restaurant that has the unique characteristic of a roller skate server car hop, building a location in a state that has bad weather at least 4 months out of the year. Sonic = Late Night Drunk Cheeseburger and Tater Tots Tip: Drive down the street and try Firehouse Hot Dog's instead of Sonic. As everyone knows this place was packed for almost 2 months. Finally it has calmed down. Honestly the hype was overrated. I tried to give this place several tries and it wasn't my cup of tea. Yes I go here a lot but not for food ever just for their drinks that I'm madly in love with, the drink menu alone is long and I love it , but the food I don't. I had ordered the foot long hotdog and it tasted like a frozen mediocre hot dog, nothing at all was special about it , except the over priced price. My fiancé had the burger he said it was okay , and nothing fancy. The other thing that was good out the meals was the tater tots. We haven't tried the drive in yet, we have only been inside but if I don't enjoy the food so why would I do the drive in, the one good thing about this place are the workers they're sweet. The handful of times I have came here the workers have been very sincere and nice. But I will continue coming here for slushies with nerds and jolly rancher pieces, otherwise I'll eat elsewhere. read more
