After waiting forever hungry and tired I decided to order through the app which was confusing (almost as confusing as the menu) and the order I took forever to put together on the app didn't even go through. The lady on the intercom finally came on and said some mumble jumble that I thought meant that she had no order placed on our stall. I pressed the red button again and a different lady was on the intercom and I asked her if we had placed any order to which she said no. Ridiculous. When Dog Fight started, we said no chains. But as time went by, we started seeing that Sonic commercial. You know, the one with the quarter-pound foot-long chili cheese coney in it. So we amended the "rules" (because we can) and decided to give Sonic a shot. First we were off to Sonic Drive-In. And that meant our chain trek now included a 10 minute wait for the noon train to pass over Assembly Street. When we finally made it to Sonic, we navigated to a shady parking spot. All the while, people churned through that drive-thru at a hefty clip. We believe, after great debate, that the foot-long quarter-pound coney and the extra long chili cheese coney are the same item although both are listed on the menu. If the foot-long's not your bag, try a lady-sized normal coney or a corndog. We have to give the Sonic staff some props here. The place was a mad house and our order was chaotic and changed three times before we paid and they got it right, 100%. But that's it for the yapping part of the review, let's get down to the dogs. Also since we had parked in the order booths, the credit card readers did not work and the server had to take my card inside to read it resulting in more wait time. It's sonic, so you know what to expect with the food, and I do generally like sonic. But if you give these guys an order even slightly out of the ordinary, they mess it up, guaranteed. I ordered a large #8 spicy with chili cheese tots and a Dr. Pepper, and after the person taking the order asked me several times to repeat it, I still somehow ended up with a small popcorn chicken and a medium drink. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. It actually happens to me more often than not. I generally order a #1, and since traditionally Sonic only put one condiment on those burgers, I chose "a number one with mayo". But instead I got all three. Ick. So the next time I went there, I ordered "A number one with just mayo", and got a burger that was just meat, cheese, and mayo. The only reason I kept with it is that it's the only place that serves hot fast food on my way home from work. It is incredibly frustrating to get home and find out that I paid for a meal that I didn't get. EDIT: I gave them another shot today and ordered the same #8.
