Somma Wine Spa shares the same building with Grand Fiesta Americana resort - but you pay for your spa services separately (i.e. can't be charged to the room). This is how my sister tricked me into paying for the massage.
My sister and I got the Swedish Massage and we arrived about an hour earlier to use the facilities. They had a dry sauna, a steam room (which didn't work), a hot tub (water was about 100 degrees, but no bubbles), and a cold water plunge. The facilities were clean and the attendants very nice. It was pretty empty so we had the whole place to ourselves.
The massage was amazing. We were in a shared room and the massage therapist was professional and the room comfortable. Apparently it looks out over the ocean, but since we had an evening massage we didn't see anything. After the massage they give you a glass of wine and a heated lavender neck pillow. It was amazing!! We tried to book another appointment for the following day, but with the freak rain storm passing thru, they were all booked up. But they were kind enough to let us use the spa facilities again for free ... unfortunately with the rain, a lot of the equipment wasn't working (steam room, and the ceiling plaster had fallen into the hot tub - hence minus the stars).
The fitness center for the hotel is also in this space - located right next door. There is no cost to use the gym. They didn't have a ton of equipment but most of it was in decent condition. And you get a lovely view of the ocean when you are running or biking in place. We went one afternoon when it was pouring rain and there were only 5 people there ... so no line for the equipment. Not a lot of options for the free weights but since I'm not the Rock, it was fine. read more
