Edinboro Lake Resort - Cabin view from lake

Too good not to share what a wonderful time we had at Edinboro Lake Resort - Sunset Grill! If you…read morelive in the Edinboro/Erie/surrounding area or are looking to visit this area, I highly recommend you book a stay here for your own retreat or trip instead of a night in another chain hotel! We were looking for a 'staycation' that felt like a getaway, and that's exactly what we got! For all we knew, it felt like we had traveled hundreds of miles to a vacation destination tucked away on our own exclusive resort! Their team was great and access to the room was totally contactless. They are pet-friendly and have a # of different style cabins with varying degrees of luxury & with our cabin rental, we received free kayak/canoe rentals and also received a discount to rent a pontoon boat, which we did and would do again! P.S. you do NOT need a license to drive the boat and all life jackets (except infant) are provided! You can bring food and alc/non-alc beverages on board for everyone to enjoy, except the driver, who can still enjoy a nice mocktail. The cabins were squeaky clean and have everything you need and more, most importantly: wi-fi, TV(s), heat, and A/C! Some cabins have their own deck, picnic table, and grill, but there are MULTIPLE community fire-pits and grills scattered elsewhere throughout. Even though we did not stay in a cabin right on the water, the second row was elevated high enough to still have a lake view! BIG BONUS POINTS if you have kids, as they have a HUGE lake-side sandbox like I've never seen before and an awesome playground! Hungry? Thirsty? No problem - take a few steps and you're at the connected Sunset Grill restaurant, which has a gorgeous view and observatory, live music on some nights, and my most-favorite feature, little dining cubbies for larger groups with your OWN, personal, controllable heat lamp and fan - absolutely brilliant. (No reservations unfortunately, but they were very accommodating as we tried to seat our larger group) We will definitely be going back! (*they have video walkthroughs & way better pictures on their site FYI )

We love this place! I read other reviews where they complained of the closeness of the cabins, and yes, they are very close together, but look at the map of the property layout and you'll see Cabin #21 & 22 are at the far end, offering the most privacy (these are the ones we always request.) You can see from the map if your cabin is waterfront or not, and how close the next cabin is. They did their best to insert privacy walls and landscaping trees to help with that issue. But if you are coming with a large group and want all your cabins together, the closeness is a plus, not a negative. The cabins are great! They provide towels and bedding for the main bed and bunks, but I'd recommend bringing extra blankets and your own pillows. The kitchen utensils were lacking in our cabin; we did not have a toaster, so I "toasted" the bread in a frying pan. We also didn't have a pizza cutter (I just used the butcher knife) and the bowl to mix avocados was massive with a flat bottom..LOL. I made it all work, but had I been staying longer, I probably would have asked if they had these items or went to the dollar store and bought stuff. (Or brought it from home had I realized.) SO, if you plan on cooking/preparing anything specific, maybe pack necessary kitchen items so you can accomplish your task. Also, bring your own plastic cups for kiddos, or for yourself, a plastic/insulated beverage container for walking around or boating. They only have glass (and very fragile wine glasses!) The property is lovely with concrete walking paths everywhere, 3 extra restrooms on the property, and Sunset Grille (great food and live music on the weekends). There is a kid's playground area, small sandy area, sitting spaces, fire pits, grills and picnic tables dotted all over the property. They offer non-motorized boats to all guests and we definitely take advantage of that! The kayaking is so fun! The lake is very nice once you get further from the front of the resort where it's more lillypads, algae blooms and "seaweed"... it's natural though, nothing to be grossed out about. Also, it is right off a main road, but if you pay attention to what's in front of you, not what's behind you.... you'll be happy :)

*Perfect place to re unite with family CANT WAIT TO COME BACK…read more My wife and I reside in north jersey and we searched at length for the perfect location that was midway between Ohio and New Jersey and our cabin at CFTHC was the perfect spot. "Hidden Oaks" was the perfect fit for the combined families (My wife and I + My sister and brother in law and their 2 year old twin girls and 7 year old son plus the fact that my sister in law is 8 months pregnant so we are a tough group with multiple needs. Hidden Oaks was roomy and comfortable, offering both families their own space in addition to excellent common areas which made relaxing by the fire, watching a movie, or just sitting on the back porch swing watching the snow fall with all of us together and laughing a weekend to remember, and well worth the price. We were delayed in NJ in midst of a snowstorm so we arrived after midnight and the staff had a key waiting as well as a map to the cabin which we found easily. Every one we met couldn't have been nicer. My advice would be to review the list of what they recommend to bring. The cabin had everything we needed pots, pans, cork screw, wine glasses etc....we are already planning our trip back in a couple months. Great people,Great place, great time, great price.

No air conditioning makes this cabin a little too humid and so nothing dries inside (like your hair). The lighting is poor, with dim yellow light bulbs. Also it is very dog friendly here. The floor, bedding and curtains had plenty of pet hair. Investing a couple hundred bucks and a little more TLC could make a huge difference.

BeachDaze#2 Stayed June 2022…read moreCheck out Google reviews. If I could give this place a zero, I would. Any good reviews or pictures are bots, don't be fooled. Do not waste your hard earned money. This place is a DUMP. The absolute worst. This was suppose to be our families vacation beach house. We rented from Sunday-wednesday and only stayed ONE night. It was not as promised. It was BAD. It was just short of ROACHES AND/OR BEDBUGS. The place was absolutely disgusting. The worst I have ever stayed at. We travelled from different areas of the country to be together with a local Erie resident that asked to see the property ahead of time. Now we know why they didn't allow them in early. This is a second floor rental. The flooring is uneven and difficult to walk through for anyone with vestibular, balance, or vertigo issues. The deck bows and is unstable. The place was advertised a 3Queen, 1 full and two twins and a queen air mattress. There is no carport. You had to pay an additional $10/day to park. We contacted the managing company as we had just spent $400 on groceries for the family and had Nothing to cook on or with. The pans are destroyed Teflon. They came Tuesday after our complaints and cleaned the oven which doesn't work and dropped off new pots and pans. A little to late. You have to hold the plug into outlet for microwave to work. The grill had animal fur on the inside. GROSS. We were shorted a queen bed. The family room furniture was stained from dirt on arms ( see pics). They charged $200 for lines that were stained. Half the outlets don't work and the AC units have BLACK MOLD GROWING IN THEM.The stove had two burns that didn't work. And the oven didn't work.

Our main concern with regard to the manner in which the property was "managed" was solely based on…read morethe complete lack of communication/response from the day we arrived. We had absolutely no one to contact regarding concerns we had, which became major issues for us later on. The short and sweet of this review is : This was the absolute worst accommodation experience we've ever had - some due to communication/customer service, most due to the property itself. When we arrived on Monday, parking became an instant concern. We were not listed as renting for the week, but I was able to convince the guard that we were. He had no interest in seeing any receipts as proof of property rental. Then came the parking cost surprise (you won't be warned - but be prepared to get nickel and dimed). We arrived at the rental a little early, and simply wanted to know if we could gain access - respectfully, looking for you or the owner's permission to do so, we called and emailed. As a result of not getting a response (a common theme), we waited outside until it was our time to go in. It was 90 degrees that day... We didn't have a response until Tuesday - more than a day later. - No Wifi (Very poor reception in the apartment) even though we paid for the service via rent for the entire week. We actually had to ask a neighbor who was kind enough to share her WiFi password. Try to not feel embarrasshed doing that. - There was sand in my bed (and others), and a necklace laying on the sheet of the bed, under the blanket. Were the sheets even changed/cleaned as part of our purchased/rented linen package? We ended up visiting Walmart to buy our own sheets for the week just to be safe. - Parking pricing is completely different than what's listed in the binder in the house (pictures attached), and there was apparently no communication with security advising of our arrival. - The bedroom ceiling fan was unusable as it seemed like it was minutes from shaking itself off the ceiling and decapitating someone. - The bedroom window wasn't lockable! There were no latches (they were removed) on the window which prevented us from keeping the apartment secure. - A 3-4 inch stream of water ran from the window in the back right bedroom, across the floor, thru clothing I had lying there, and then down thru the wall. I don't know where the water ended up, but there was a lot - and yes, the window was shut. Each time it rained, there was water. It rained a few days. - The back bedroom smelled musty/mildewy the whole time - likely from all the water flow. - You could literally hear EVERYTHING from the apartment below - which started on Thursday. EVERYTHING!!! We had to tell our kids that the water pipes were banging (no pun intented) inside the walls. Thankfully they only banged for a couple minutes. - The door handles were close to falling off. - A "damage insurance fee" was paid, but stuff was damaged and not repaired before our move in - which was a complete waste of our money. - Light switches were missing knobs. - The flooring in the entire place is on a slope. This made sleeping in the back room bed interesting, as it too was at an angle. - The mattresses were some of the most uncomfortable mattresses we've ever laid on. We literally hated when it was time to go to bed because we knew how much our sleep would suck that night. - The back left bedroom mattress was acceptable, as was claimed by my son. - The furnace may have been the loudest furnace on Earth. The location of the air inlet, as well as the accordion style door in the bedroom meant you could hear it's thunder all day, and all night. - The TV was mounted in the far left corner, flat on the wall, as viewed from the couch - and canted at an angle. I've never seen this! It didn't matter either way, as the furnace was so loud, and the TV service (box resetting constantly) was so intermittent, that it was nearly impossible to just sit and relax in the evening and watch a little TV before we dreaded heading to bed. - There is a gas pipe sticking out of the floor. Watch your toes! - The futon was old, and worn. It was NOT clean, and it was NOT comfortable to sit on. I suppose the lack of comfort on a futon is to be expected, however. - The showers were moldy/not clean. The mat in the shower had sand under it - sand from prior tenants, I'm assuming. - The listing stated there would be an air mattress, we saw no air mattress. - The "private" beach was covered in sheared aluminum cans and lightly buried garbage - as well as a TON of logs. - Neighbors referred to the property as a dump - they weren't far off. This made for alot of awkward moments when we saw each other. In short, if you want to stay in the most miserable accomodation you can image, and pay top dollar - rent the South Shore Beach House. If you want something better, there was a trailer park up the road from the beach that had some availability.
