I hadn't realized that it was even possible. When she was finished I went on and on to Dr. Hoehn about how good she is. It's as if all of the other dental hygienists I have had were still figuring out how to do it. My wife doesn't want to go into the details of her unsatisfactory experiences with the dentists near us, so I'll just say that Google maps identifies 25 dental practices within 5 miles of us, but after trying some and checking others online, she prefers have me take her 17 miles to Dr. Hoehn. We started seeing him 35 years ago when he was only 5 miles away. Then he moved 90 miles to Santa Barbara and we started looking for a new dentist. We figured that there MUST be another good one within 5 miles. We were still trying to find "a good one" about a year ago, when she noticed that a "Dr. Hoehn" was practicing "only" 17 miles away. She remembered him as the best dentist she had ever had, so she called. It turned out that he had moved closer. Now we choose to see him over a hundred or more dentists that are closer. I counted the 25 dentists within 5 miles, and extrapolated that there must be AT LEAST100 [probably closer to 200] dentists closer than 17 miles from us, which makes him "1 in a 100". If you let a thousand dentist poke around in your mouth and find a better one, let me know.

He looked at my teeth, looked at my previous X-Rays, and then came back to look at them again just to make sure everything was good to go! At most dental offices I feel like you don't see the Dr until the end and he basically just "double checks" the hygienists work, but I don't feel that way here. They also have 6:10pm appointments on Tuesday's which works great for my work schedule! They are also super fast. I came in for a cleaning and was out within less than an hour. I went to Newbury Smiles about three months ago for a routine cleaning. At that visit, I was told I had "deep pockets" in my gums, but no one mentioned cavities, an urgent treatment plan, or any significant issues. I was also never shown any X-rays, and I did not meet with the dentist -- only the hygienist. I returned in November for another cleaning, and immediately after the appointment I was suddenly told that I had three cavities between my teeth on both sides of my mouth and that treatment was "imperative." I was completely blindsided. When I said this was the first time anyone had mentioned cavities, the dentist insisted that I had been told months earlier -- which is simply not true. I clearly remember that conversation, and none of this was discussed. I wasn't shown X-rays at that time because they hadn't even been reviewed yet. The dentist only looked at my August X-rays in November and then accused me of "neglect." His exact words were: "Neglect adds up, and it comes in the form of tooth decay. You've done a good job, but now you have a lot of damage to repair." That comment alone was unprofessional, dismissive, and deeply unsettling. Then they slid a $2,500 treatment plan across the table as if this had all been previously agreed upon. I felt pressured, blindsided, and very uncomfortable with how the entire situation was handled. Something didn't sit right with me, so I went to a highly rated dentist at Westlake Dental Care for a second opinion -- a practice with consistent five-star reviews. They were incredibly welcoming and thorough. They were shocked by how few X-rays Newbury Smiles had taken and reviewed. After examining me and reviewing new films, they told me: * My gums are healthy * My teeth are in great shape * I do not have cavities * I do not need fillings * I do not need any of the treatment Newbury Smiles recommended The contrast was night and day. I'm grateful I trusted my instincts and sought a second opinion at Westlake Dental Care!!

She repeatedly said, "we'll take good care of you here." I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Setareh the same day, within minutes of me walking through the door. The wait was short lived, with only a few minutes in the waiting room before I was taken into a room to get x-rays. Kimberly was gentle and kind. She always let me know what every different technique of x-rays were for and what was next. Within minutes, I was introduced to Dr. Satareh, who I realized was my dentist, many years prior. She immediately began by explaining her findings from my x-rays and what the most important issues were and which ones to take care of first and why. Through the steps of the procedures, she always asked if I was comfortable and she asked if I was experiencing any pain. She was concerned with my comfort, always. She was gentle and thorough, explaining the procedures and what she would be doing next. I didn't catch Dr Satereh's assistant's name, but she was as professional as any other doctor. She was concerned about my comfort and took care of any problem I had right-a-way. Before I knew it, it was over. I was surprised how smoothly everything went. What is also great about this dental office is the dentists, endodontist and periodontists are all at this one location so, you don't have to travel from one place to the next for these services.

I get one at my new dentist half the cost with no added fees and nothing about needed this or that. They tell you everything is wrong with your mouth to refer you to their in house specialist. I went to a specialist, and they used my insurance properly and my treatment was way less than what this place charges. The dentist hygienists are full of it along along with the front desk staff and act like you are doing them a favor by entering that door. Also, making you sit in the lobby well after your appointment time with no reason or update is disrespectful. They definitely paid or begged for the good reviews lol
