The reviews…read moreare great so I felt like this would be a good choice and so far after two appointments, I really like this clinic and Dr Mailer. Before coming to Sand Lake Dermatology I had a biopsy at another clinic and was scheduled to have a carcinoma removed. I was unable to have this done at the other clinic so I booked the first appt available with Sand Lake Dermatology which was set for the end of July. Once I was able to get my records sent to the clinics, a staff member called me right away and moved my appointment to have a carcinoma removed from my face to last week. Because of the interactions I had over the phone and online with this clinic, I felt comfortable having this clinic remove the carcinoma even though I had not even seen the clinic nor doctor. While I was mildly aware of what the procedure entailed, the staff that prepared me answering questions and numbing me(Marisol and Aaron) were great and made me feel comfortable. Dr Mailer was just as nice and made me feel comfortable. I was of course aware of the dr performing the procedure, I couldn't see it and didn't feel it. The procedure is called Moh's procedure where they typically cut away the determined margin around the affected area, bandage you up and let the patient wait in the lobby while the removed specimen is being reviewed in the onsite lab. If the lab determines that not enough was removed to show clear margins, the patient is brought back in and the dr removes more repeating the process until margins are clear. In my case, the dr removed all that needed to be removed leaving clear margins so after the lab results returned after a couple of hours, I was brought back into the procedure room and the dr proceeded to stitch up my wound applying dissolving stitched under the skin and removable stitches outside. My appointment for follow up and outer stitches removal was set for one week later( this past Tuesday). I was prescribed a heavy antibiotic and advised to keep Vaseline on the stitched up area and keep it covered with a bandage that is changed daily. Once I was stitched up, I mentioned a growth I have noticed on my eyelid and the dr suggested that on my follow up appointment she would take a biopsy. So this past Tuesday I had stitches removed, the area where I had stitches seems to be healing well and it doesn't appear that there will be a heavy scar. I am happy to see this as the area that was removed was quite large and the area stitched was quite long. The nurse, Natalie numbed my face, the stitches were removed and I didn't feel anything. They also numbed my eyelid so the biopsy could be taken. This is a sensitive area so this was a bit more intense but it went quickly and the biopsy was done. I will likely have results next week. What could have been a high anxiety first procedures (I've never had any surgery or stitches) turned out to be a pretty smooth experience. I recommend consideration of Sand Lake Dermatology as the staff and Dr Mailer were great, the waiting room is comfortable and even the staff that manages scheduling, check in, check out, nurses, physicians assistants all made me feel important, individual and taken care of. I wish all medical experiences could be similar to what I experienced.

The only thing I cannot stand about this location is the parking garage and getting there. If you're using gps and have to drive even a few minutes through downtown, add on like 10 minutes because the lights are the worst. Then you have the parking garage. You have to go all the way to the 4th floor and then they have a few spots that are inside the garage, dedicated to their place. The rest are outside on the highest level of the garage. You have to walk to the elevator and then take it upstairs one level. Even when we leave ahead of the time with the gps, we still get there late. We would have to leave like 45 min ahead when the gps says 20 minutes (with traffic). It's 13 minutes without. I drive like a maniac too so I can get there super quick if the lights are on my side. But with that traffic and if it's drizzling forget it. Everyone forgets how to drive and it will take you double the time. Other than all that nonsense, it's a great practice. The parking and getting there though-oof.

But the back end, after the procedure and experience, took a huge turn which is why I not only updated my perspective and review, but I changed it dramatically. Following the procedure, we were waiting to hear back from the team pertaining to our bill. Initially when we showed up, we asked the receptionist to pay the self pay rate as we had out contacted our insurance and they indicated it would not be approved. Now, the reason we chose this particular establishment was because we contacted several others and asked for the self pay rate and evaluated reviews as well. This had the lowest self pay option and great reviews. So we were expecting to pay our bill on the date of service. She insisted that she send it through insurance and it would most likely not be denied because of the nature of the procedure. Sure enough, months later - we get the EOB from the insurance company and the bill was denied. AND to top it off, we would be on the hook for what they billed insurance - which is well over the self pay rate. We were upset, frustrated, and and annoyed. My husband attempted to contact Knight Dermatology through e-mail, telephone, and eventually having to drive to their location. After multiple attempts and continued confusion (literally told him they didn't have his date of service in there), the bill has been resolved. This took 5 months to complete. We will not be back due to the disorganization of the back end staff. Get it together. The doctor was great though!

After two years and two PRP treatments(at no charge), this is how I look, and I'm very disappointed with the results. I went to another doctor and he cant believe how bad this look. ( only 21 miles from us in Kissimmee, Florida) My spouse has undergone two hair transplants: 1 in 2011 ($4000) and 1 in 2013 ($10,000). My husband also took Finasteride Pills for 13 years but stopped in 2013 due to Sexual Side Effects. When we met with Adam on Saturday June 8, 2024, he examined Tom's Hair and Scalp, took photos, and recommended the NuGrow TriGrow Hair treatment plan. We were told that it would take 5 weeks total - (1 treatment per week). The cost was NOT negotiable @ $10,500. (OMG!) We told Adam that my husband did NOT want to take any medication with the treatment plan (even though Dutasteride and Minoxidil were recommended). Adam showed us another patient's results for the same treatment without medication, which looked good. We decided to proceed with this treatment. My Husband completed the 5 Treatments of the NuGrow TriGrow Hair Treatment on July 15, 2024. He went every Monday in the morning, his blood was drawn, and then he had to come back 3 hours later. They numbed his head with Lidocaine and injected him with his blood, exosomes, and biotin. Then they put him under a light for about 20 minutes. (each treatment took about an hour) He tolerated each treatment very well with only some itchiness now and then. We spoke to Dr J who told us that the results are going to take some time, about 6 - 9 months or maybe even longer. The service and staff were very nice. The facility was beautiful and very relaxing. (and very cold) I did NOT like all the paperwork that was involved - on our patient portal we had to fill out 17 forms before each visit and sign electronically.
