The owner (Johnathan) came out on the initial site visit to explain everything and give me options with the pro and cons with his recommendations where decisions needed to be made. I worked with Jeffery from the start. He was great to work with explaining the different system options and ensuring I got the right size system (even when I thought I needed a larger system he explained why the system size was appropriate instead of just taking the opportunity to have a larger sale). He was always willing to answer any question I had (there were a lot) and get a fast response. The install team was excellent. Sonny and Ryan were the guys I spoke with the most (the rest of the team including Gabriel, Rainer, Serge, and Andrei were all great too, just limited interactions). Sonny and Ryan ensured that everything was done correctly. Even though the install was scheduled for one day, it took a bit more with the complexities of my house and they really paid attention to the details to do things right instead of fast. Logan is clearly energized by solar and knows how to make it all work. He engaged the city, technicians, and even a ceiling repair person. He has a contact list that will help you get your results faster than with anyone else. A project manager that can "make a call" is what you want. The visual look of the panels are great, orientated nicely with the roof lines. Not that the form should take priority over function, but cosmetics dont hurt. Through the lens of a non electrician, I think the wiring of the system to the house looks professional and sustainable. I quoted out several solar solutions. I quickly discovered I could get the Cadillac model with bells and whistles that I didn't know existed or a basic Civic model where either options will get you there--to use a car analogy. It seems the key factors between the high and low end systems are the degradation factors and conversion efficiencies. From my solar-naive review, the added cost of the top-end systems (double$$) are just not worth the minor gains. The scale of the gains-to-cost of the top end is simply not worth it unless you just have to have those fractional percentages. Plus all systems come with a 20+ year warranty and are smart house enabled. Florida Roof and Solar's solution is a well balanced system of performance and cost, plus they are able to provide whole house efficiency improvements. Their system is not just middle tier, their panels are within a fractional percentage of any top tier panel on market that I could find, and in some cases were half the cost. I was able to find 2 quotes that were less than Florida Roof and Solar, but what sold me was their ability to add in additional efficiency such as installing a new AC, hotwater heater (a pseudo garage AC) and my favorite, an attic exhaust fan. The convenience of 1 general contractor delivering my roof, AC, Hotwater heater and Solar, plus at market average or better cost, I was sold. If they only also did Windows. They also provided several smart switches and an Alexa...WARNING, the smart enabled devices can become addictive and lead to thoughts of whole house smart device upgrades :) Local Jacksonville company providing a great service. After speaking with one solar contractor, we decided to pursue this update to our home. We ended up speaking with all the solar contractors at the show. We invited three of them to our home to provide a quote, with Solar Trek being one of the three. We ended up choosing Solar Trek. Why? First, Jim Schwed was the only one of the sales persons who actively included my wife in the process. That is very important to both of us. Also, Jim was the only one of the 3 who came prepared with information on the products, our needs, and the entire process. In other words, he was prepared. Jim also made us feel comfortable with the process. All three companies quotes pretty much the same solution. Different equipment, but the same end result. Prices were within 5%, high to low. The deciding factor was no so much price as it was Jim. Jim got the ball rolling. Shortly thereafter, Samantha Copeland became involved from a project management standpoint. She is terrific. Samantha answered all questions quickly and made sure the process from the point of decision to so this to the install was seamless and smooth. The install took 2.5 days. We actually cannot use the system yet, but not due to Solar Trek. Currently, Duval County is not allowing any inspections of any work other than new construction due to Covid 19.
