After speaking with one solar contractor, we decided to pursue this update to our home. We ended up speaking with all the solar contractors at the show. We invited three of them to our home to provide a quote, with Solar Trek being one of the three. We ended up choosing Solar Trek. Why? First, Jim Schwed was the only one of the sales persons who actively included my wife in the process. That is very important to both of us. Also, Jim was the only one of the 3 who came prepared with information on the products, our needs, and the entire process. In other words, he was prepared. Jim also made us feel comfortable with the process. All three companies quotes pretty much the same solution. Different equipment, but the same end result. Prices were within 5%, high to low. The deciding factor was no so much price as it was Jim. Jim got the ball rolling. Shortly thereafter, Samantha Copeland became involved from a project management standpoint. She is terrific. Samantha answered all questions quickly and made sure the process from the point of decision to so this to the install was seamless and smooth. The install took 2.5 days. We actually cannot use the system yet, but not due to Solar Trek. Currently, Duval County is not allowing any inspections of any work other than new construction due to Covid 19. The lead on the install team was Matt, with Blake and Nate also on the team. We could not have asked for a more professional, courteous team. One way my wife and I grade the people doing work on our home is how they clean up at the end of the day, be the job single or multiple days. Matt, Blake, and Matt made sure everything was spotless at the end of the day. Could not have asked for a better crew. To summarize, if you want to not have to deal with your electric utility, call Jim Schwed and have Solar Trek make your home a solar home.

Logan is clearly energized by solar and knows how to make it all work. He engaged the city, technicians, and even a ceiling repair person. He has a contact list that will help you get your results faster than with anyone else. A project manager that can "make a call" is what you want. The visual look of the panels are great, orientated nicely with the roof lines. Not that the form should take priority over function, but cosmetics dont hurt. Through the lens of a non electrician, I think the wiring of the system to the house looks professional and sustainable. I quoted out several solar solutions. I quickly discovered I could get the Cadillac model with bells and whistles that I didn't know existed or a basic Civic model where either options will get you there--to use a car analogy. It seems the key factors between the high and low end systems are the degradation factors and conversion efficiencies. From my solar-naive review, the added cost of the top-end systems (double$$) are just not worth the minor gains. The scale of the gains-to-cost of the top end is simply not worth it unless you just have to have those fractional percentages. Plus all systems come with a 20+ year warranty and are smart house enabled. Florida Roof and Solar's solution is a well balanced system of performance and cost, plus they are able to provide whole house efficiency improvements. Their system is not just middle tier, their panels are within a fractional percentage of any top tier panel on market that I could find, and in some cases were half the cost. I was able to find 2 quotes that were less than Florida Roof and Solar, but what sold me was their ability to add in additional efficiency such as installing a new AC, hotwater heater (a pseudo garage AC) and my favorite, an attic exhaust fan. The convenience of 1 general contractor delivering my roof, AC, Hotwater heater and Solar, plus at market average or better cost, I was sold. If they only also did Windows. They also provided several smart switches and an Alexa...WARNING, the smart enabled devices can become addictive and lead to thoughts of whole house smart device upgrades :) Local Jacksonville company providing a great service. Then, after avoiding me for months I was told, "they still had to make money on the job," so they asked me to pay for all the remaining materials ~$3K, which I did, then they told me they did not want to finish the job after being paid 84% of the job, telling me that I need to hire a new electrician which cost me an additional $7k. After working with an actual professional electrical company it is obvious NH is not one. Please save your money and find another company.

We called and texted the installer to correct and offered to pay for the new zone board, but have been ghosted. No return call or text. Even the instruction manual speaks specifically to install a HZ432 zone board. Our installer installed an HZ322.

To my surprise the air conditioner stop functioning within two days of the inspection. So I did what any other home owner would do panic and call the realtor, however there was nothing she could do this was all in my hands now. Searching for affordable prices I ran into an add on a home improvement magazine, this company would finance and fix my system. I was excited but all this came with a large price about 6,000 dollars. To say the least they let me down. My daughter in law text me the home advisor website link to take a look. That's when I found the perfect company to fix my air conditioner. I called them on a Saturday and that same day they came to see my system Maurice was my technician he was excellent he let me know everything that was wrong with it. He explained that it was only one part that needed to be replaced good thing it was under warranty. The company ordered the part for me and on Wednesday they were at my home fixing the air conditioner. They only charged me for the labor, they stuck to their word on their estimate from the beginning. This is my second time using this company and I don't…read moreknow what happened between my first experience and this recent one but it's been a nightmare. A few days after the installation I came home from work and my socks were getting wet in the hall where the air handler is located. I open the door to the space where it is and notice that the drain was NOT installed and the water was just running down on the slab and seeping under the wall and under my wood flooring. The flooring has already started to warp. I contacted them and they sent a couple guys out to correct it. I asked about the flooring being covered by them and they told me they have no idea and I needed to contact the office. I did and to this day no response. After the correction of the non installed drain I thought it would be rectified however the 2nd team of tech installed the drain pipe running uphill so nothing was going into the outlet pipe in the slab and again the water was running out of the pan onto the floor. I am no HVAC tech but I ran the PVC drain pipe out the door of the air handler into a LOWE'S bucket that I have to dump out a few times a day. So to sum it all up I am out a couple thousand dollars on flooring so far and have a bucket in my hallway to keep from flooding my house again. Today I found out from the building code folks that a permit was never pulled when my HVAC was replaced and now the fine for no permit is on me. I would NOT recommend them from this experience and it's obvious that I'm not going to be reimbursed for their shoddy work and flooding my home TWICE. One VERY unhappy customer.
