Great coaching, but management threatens collection over unwritten rules. I want to start by saying the coaches here are excellent and the training itself was really good. My issue is with how management handled billing.
I had to take a break due to an injury I got while training at this gym. While I was out, the gym tried to charge a "freezing fee" to my card without my prior consent or approval. When I asked about this fee, which isn't even in my contract, they told me I should just pay it to lock in my current rate before prices went up.
Since we couldn't come to an agreement and I no longer trusted their billing practices, I asked to cancel my membership instead. Then they told me canceling would immediately void the freeze and trigger a 30-day notice clause. This meant I'd owe a full month's fee for a gym I couldn't physically even step into, as I was limping and barely able to walk properly at that time.
When I asked where this "voiding the freeze" rule was written in the contract, management admitted it wasn't there and said the freeze had just been a "courtesy." This directly contradicted what I was told verbally at sign up, that freezing was a member's right. Still, they used this unwritten rule to demand the 30-day notice payment, and when I refused, they said they'd send it to collections. I ended up paying to avoid dealing with that.
The coaching is great, but keep in mind management may enforce rules that aren't actually in your contract. read more
