We went to Soiled Dove to kill ten minutes and ended up staying for a half hour! Amazing array of pop culture collectibles from the 1950s to 2000s. The owner, Elizabeth is extremely sweet (and a extremely chatty) and is willing to negotiate prices. They had a handful of vintage Pez dispensers, and when I asked how much they were, Elizabeth answered "I'm not really sure. How much do you think they're worth?", which started the fun and friendly half hour long convo! If 20th century pop culture isn't your cup of tea, you should at least still go in to let the cat! read more

This place is wonderful and kitch and community oriented and we're lucky to have this store that sells unique pieces and tchotchkes.

Worth a look see if you are in the area and enjoy vintage treasure hunting. I picked up some vintage magazines for under $10. Children's toys, vintage jewelry and many greeting cards and magazines from early 1900s to 1950s. Extremely haphazardly arranged on our visit (as owner admitted as we wandered) but if you are willing to hunt, you might find a treasure. I've bought many things there in the past, finally was able to spend a day there with my daughter and was excited to have her pick out some "treasures." She mistakenly walked behind a counter (nothing is marked there and there is NO WAY to know where customers can and can't go into). The apparent owner who was sitting in a chair texting immediately barked very loudly and very harshly - "STOP! STOP RIGHT NOW!" causing us both to jump in surprise. My daughter who was not in any way acting up or acting badly looked stuned and was very hurt(she is 11 and we were literally just looking around at stuff). A simple and polite "Sorry, please don't go there" would have been sufficient. Or maybe a clear sign amidst all the stuff that is all over the place? We immediately walked out as she continued to text on her phone. We walked across the street to the very nice soap/candle store where the owners treated us kindly and welcomed us as if they actually cared about their customers. We didn't need soap or candles, but we were happy to spend our money there and will always choose kind store owners over mean, crabby rude ones like the lady at Soiled Doves. I'll never walk in there again. Thanks for almost ruining our little day out! Because of you we discovered the awesome soap store across the street called Rosendale Waxworks. read more

The most amazing collection of chachkies, vintage, and more. Elizabeth the owner has incredible taste and her prices are MORE than reasonable. When I walk in her store I feel my childhood all around me, everything in there is so magical and bright! This is a great store for finds. Just moved here in July and half my new home is decorated with items from this store. I love Table Ware from the 50's, reminds me of my Grandmother, and I was able to get many pieces and some sets. The selection of glassware is amazing, and there are some fun kitschy items from the 70's that remind me of my childhood home. I am also a tea drinker and got beautiful porcelain tea sets from Japan. Also got a vintage WoolRich winter coat in red hunter's plaid. The prices are ridiculously low and the owner is a delight to speak to. I did much of my holiday shopping here as well as got some great vintage ornaments to decorate with. There are 2 love bug cats that make the visit complete. I cannot say enough about this store. It is fun to walk through and I love the everchanging window display, the mannequins have great style, especially the right hand window. read more

If your are going through the Hudson Valley this is a place you must visit, the owner of the store has the most unique items you can find, all priced very reasonable, the merchandise is displayed so adorable. The window front is something you would expect to see on 5th Ave (if 5th Ave had a high end vintage store, this would be it. She is generous with her knowledge and her pricing. She recently had new racks built into the store that make it even more of a pleasure to explore. I LOVE this store! My apartment is almost entirely furnished from it. Lots of kitsch, great vintage and a big variety. The first thing I bought was a vintage hanging light fixture from the 60's, I think. One of those round globes with broken chunks of orange and red glass and metallic gold. Since then, I have become a collector of vintage salt and pepper shakers. I got the mid century end tables I so wanted forever, very reasonably priced. Most recently I was given a Sylvia Plath Barbie with vintage oven for Valentine's Day from my boyfriend. I had admired it in the window for some time. The owner has very cute cats who have free range of the store and sometimes 'perform'. read more
