This is my home studio. It has recently opened and is nice to come back and always find something…read morenew and exciting going on. First and foremost, the instruction quality is top notch. Ivan is a wonderful, experienced and methodic teacher who will make sure everyone practices in a safe and constructive manner, based on the Iyengar method. For those who are new to yoga I would like to add that certified Iyengar teachers go through very extensive training, way beyond that of a regular teaching certificate (what, at least to me, speaks about their commitment and integrity). Gorgeous, expansive and fully equipped studio, complete with a rope wall, mats in different thicknesses to choose from, chairs, blankets, bolsters, meditation cushions, belts, shoulder stand pads and even eye pillows, all to use free of charge. Not to mention whole new beautiful ceiling fixtures to contemplate when lying down in Supta Baddha Konasana. Yes, I'm spoiled and I know it :) Tip: The saturday morning class tends to be less crowded (perfect for beginners!)

You just get my impressions on how I experienced my first yoga lessons at the Sleepy Yogi Studio. My yoga instructor is Christina and I think I could not have chosen better. I guess to start with yoga is not an easy thing, as with all new things it needs a bit of self-discipline, but Christina makes it easy for you to dive into the world of yoga. She explains and demonstrates all the exercises (asanas, breath, meditation, etc) carefully, corrects gently postures where needed, which muscles are used, how it should feel, and when to be cautious with more demanding exercises to avoid any strains. Don't get misleaded by the Sleepy Yogi in the name, the exercises are anything else than sleepy, at least for me! The studio itself is located in a nice round building and offers two rooms, one for the yoga and one changing room, both with wooden floors. In short: a boutique kind of a yoga studio. Enjoy!

Having just moved from New York to Zürich one of my main concerns was to find a place where I could…read morecontinue doing yoga but more importantly feel a connection with the instructor. My first impression after two weeks going to classes was that this place had become a "home" away from home and that every single day spent there was a big gift. The studio is lovely, clean and well structured. Classes are done according to each instructors style however, they will always ask what are our main concerns and apply lessons that will certainly make you feel good and thankful after. Plus you will learn so much about our bodies and how everything is interconnected. I was able to find all of these elements plus a wonderful team - Christina, Florie, Nicole and Anja are all amazing instructors - the perfect balance!
