It's got some really lovely bits and pieces - Glasgow road signs, vintage map wall art, luggage cases, Shetland wool blankets, chandeliers, furniture as well as wee decorative pieces. One of my favourite finds was a glass pineapple that has a silver coating and now sits on my lounge room table. I didn't realise but they also have a shop through in Edinburgh and an online store. With fantastic customer service and great, unusual pieces, I'll definitely be popping in more often.

Phoned customer services (Bilal)who stated it was an issue with paypal. Receipt issued with BT address stating delivery was free but on speaking to Bilal he stated that I would have to pay for delivery but he didnt know how much it was. Waited for two days with no reply. Phoned Customer Services again ( Bilal again )to be told that delivery was £40 !! Stated that it was a software problem which enabled me to make an order without paying delivery ? Found Bilal to be quite rude and he stated that I should have seen the terms and conditions on the front page Banner ( very small font which you have to click into and then read !!) He then stated what do you want, pay the delivery or cancel the order. No management available to take my complaint. Absolute cowboy outfit, avoid like the plague.

However, I didn't feel like on the occasion we visited, I could have been confident in buying anything here. Maybe this isn't always true, but the pricing was really confusing. I think this is partly because they were in the middle of the sale. So you'd see something you'd like, it would have a huge price on it but that wouldn't be the actual price of the item - it would be a promotional price that only applied as a "multibuy" offer. It was unclear what other item you'd have to purchase to get that lower price. So, that was pretty disappointing. You don't want to see something you like and think it' in budget only to be find out that it's actually 50% more expensive than it appears to be. Furniture shopping is stressful enough without this nonsense. Then, it took us ages to get hold of a member of staff when we wanted to ask a question. To be fair, when we did they were very helpful, so I guess they get points for that. As I say, it might be better outside of sale season, but given that this branch is based on a huge complex with several other stores that all sell very similar things, it's really hard to recommend this as an option.

A lot of shops like this get a bit funny if you're just having a look - but the lady in The Living Room was lovely and didn't mind at all. All the furniture is arranged into little "rooms", which makes the whole place feel really homely. As well as all sorts of furniture - you'll also find smaller furnishings such as vases, candles and lamps. There are some really nice gifty bits and pieces that would make great presents, and I even spied some gorgeous wooden Christmas decorations on the counter. Prices range from £10 or £20 for small furnishings and lampshades to £2000 for a sofa. Although quite a bit pricier for furniture than a certain unnamed Scandinavian superstore, the furniture in The Living Room is infinitely more individual and stylish and much, much better quality. Worth a trip - even if it's just to dream.

Neither of us had ever been in before, but my guy reminded me that Jack and Victor of Still Game shot some scenes in this shop way back. Even though this shop is called The Living Room, it really caters to the whole home and depending on your style, there really is something for every room. We were in looking at bedroom sets and found one that we really liked, and put it on our list of contenders. The staff in this shop are helpful and polite, but be warned, they don't take kindly to shoplifters. Since it seems there were only two people on staff, in a pretty large shop, they have cameras and notices everywhere that CCTV is in operation. No bother, I'm sure that helps in feeling safe. Towards the back of the shop were bits and bobs of sale items, ranging from discontinued furniture to outdated candles and pillows. Everything still in really great shape, the discounted price just makes them that much sweeter. We left happy with ideas of how we want to furnish our house and even stopped by their larger store in Merchant City (which wasn't as nice as this shop) and fully plan on coming back for other decorating needs.

Now, thanks to the giant orange monster that is B&Q (Home Depot to transatlantic chums), I have to get in my car and drive several miles to a humongous warehouse, where I am forced to buy a box of 100 that will, having used 5 or 6 of them, forever after sit on a shelf gathering dust and slowly rusting until either the sun goes nova or I suddenly develop a need for that particular size and type of fastening once again. That's assuming they have the particular item in stock of course; it wouldn't be the first time that I've had to drive to one of the other B&Q stores to find what I'm after (my record is three). I'm being a little unfair on them for comic effect here - there's no denying that B&Q and their main competition Homebase are filling a niche in the market by providing practically all your DIY and hardware needs under one roof; but at the price of forcing smaller ironmongers out of business. If you're a tradesman with a trade account, or if you're just embarking on a major domestic refurbishment, this should be your first port of call. But years later, in the back of a kitchen drawer, I guarantee that you'll come across a little plastic box full of some miscellaneous widgets whose purpose and reason for buying you have long forgotten.

B&Q are the last refuge of the desperate…read more Men and women carrying small rubber parts or lengths of pipes that only a couple hours a go were pouring water into their kitchens. I have been one of these lost souls. Trying to save a Hogmanay party as I drove at breakneck speed to this B&Q with portions of my kitchen sink plumbing my hand. Furiously looking for the right size of "o" ring to match the parts. Until I found out that my kitchen pipes were National Hungarian sizes and B&Q only stocked Euro sized rings. Such is the world of pain and disappointment that the B&& can unleashed on you. The ads make this place look all happy and full of people bettering themselves. In truth, most B&Q's are where you find folks literally trying to keep their heads above water. The staff are the recipients of the most asinine questions. Can I paint my car with this? How long a pipe do I need? Will this be bright enough for my patio? I understand why they have a look of pain whenever approached by a member of the public. They make these stores big. Vast repositories of tools and materials. When unearthed centuries from now, our descendants will think we worshipped copper piping and hand tools, as we flocked here on weekends to tithe and toil. Do I really need to tell you what to expect at a B&Q? Enough stuff to really screw up your weekend. That is what you will get. If you think you can just buy a bathroom suite and one will magically appear in your home. I want to live in your world. Don't get me started on the Gardening section. Dismemberment "R" Us. Why four stars - cause it is a great improvement over the old inronmongers. Where pensioners disguised as store staff would hurl abuse and questions at you simultaneously. While they make fake attempts to find things that they know they do not have, since your broken item was made after 1940 and they only have parts for things made before that. So just remember, it could be worse.
