Montvale Jewelers is by far the best small business jewelry store in this area. I heard through a…read morecouple of people that Steve the owner was great and gave excellent customer service, so when I needed a new battery on my Michele watch and a necklace repaired, I went there. He does most repairs in just one day and repairs are very affordable, which is awesome. After receiving my watch, he told me that he also steamed it free of charge. I wasn't able to pick it up until after closing time and he stayed and waited for me because he knew I needed it! Honestly, this place is such a hidden gem in Bergen County and I would recommend to anyone.

Within a couple of weeks I discovered the ring was plated even though it bore the .925 (silver) stamp. I returned to the jeweler and had him test it in my presence and the results confirmed no silver was detected in either the plate or base metal. He said he would reorder from another vendor and I agreed. When I picked up the replacement I discovered it was the SAME setting. The prong placement, the .925 stamp in the same location and upon closer examination - the very same worn-away irregularities could still be seen under the coating. The inside portion that had the silver stamp wasn't even covered and the dull base metal was exposed. He feigned shock and couldn't understand how this could be but he would take my word for it that it was the same ring. I demanded a refund and it was given immediately without contest. This nefarious practice is typically utilized for misrepresenting the true karat content of gold, the authenticity of diamonds and other precious stones - not the cheap metal silver. ....BEWARE!!!

We…read morefirst visited on Valentine's Day to explore wedding band options and were immediately impressed by how warm and welcoming the entire staff was. We never felt rushed or pressured -- they encouraged us to take our time, go back and forth between different metals and designs, and told us to come back when we were ready. That comfort level meant a lot to us. We originally liked a ring we had seen from Brilliant Earth, and Andrew was confident they could create something similar. On the day we were ready to move forward, I asked if they had any other samples in stock -- and we actually ended up loving one of their in-store options even more because it felt more timeless! We made one small customization (rounding the edges slightly), and they had the ring completed within two weeks. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the work was done right in the NYC Diamond District. A big shoutout to Andrew -- he was incredibly patient, friendly, and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. We couldn't be happier with the final result and highly recommend F Silverman Jewelers to anyone looking for beautiful jewelry and a genuinely pleasant buying experience.

Stew is transparent, and honest and seems to have access to stones that are cut extremely well (when I looked at other places, they just didn't seem to compare). I did a lot of research and looked around a lot. Stew is the best of the best (and also super patient). Stew gets great quality jewelry and gives his customers very fair prices. And he is a nice person too. Highly recommend.

The owners are warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, with decades of experience that show in everything they do. Whether you're shopping for something special or bringing in a beloved piece for repair, they treat every item (and every customer) with genuine care. Any repairs I've had done here have been flawless. If you're tired of chain-store sparkle and want real old-fashioned quality and service, this is the gem of a place you're looking for.

But trust me, these two are the kind of parents you'd actually want running your life. They do everything in-house from repairs, sales, and being warm and friendly. Before they took over, the original "Pop" was at the bench, so you're basically getting decades of jewelry wisdom handed down like a family recipe. They're personable, honest, and so trustworthy that if they suddenly decided to open a mechanic shop, I'd hand them the keys to my vintage car without a second thought. They've got it all from new jewelry, antique gems, watches, you name it. And they'll do it all from fixing it, polishing it, or making it sparkle like new. They'll also buy your Grandma's gaudy gold bracelet if you're tired of keeping it in a shoe box under your bed along with the spider webs. Cash it in and have some play money. I used to be loyal to a jewelry store in Closter, NJ, but I took a daring cross-border adventure (don't worry, no politics here), to Nanuet, NY, and discovered this little "gem"(no pun intended). Best decision ever.
