In our search for a contractor, when Jim walked into the house, recognized the architect, spoke of pieces he had in storage, etc., we thought he'd be a perfect fit. We had seen his trucks all over town, doing work for hones and businesses alike. His quote was reasonable. Of course, like everyone else, we ended up paying more than we had started out to pay, but we figured that was par for the course in remodel. BUT.... among some smaller less annoying issues ( quite frankly I did more of the 'general contractor' work than Jim did), what took the cake and showed the true colors of Jim Naples was when his sub contractor for the drywall smashed the drywall into the roof and brand new gutters of the front porch. Jim assured us that the sub's insurance would handle the repair and if jot, his own insurance would! Well.... After months of fighting and being assured by Jim that it'd be fixed, winter came and made the issue worse. Seems Naples was asking for twice what the sub was willing to pay for fixing the damage and Jim's insurance said they were never involved!, Of course I ended up dealing with the sub myself and getting someone else to fix the damage - FOR 1/3 OF WHAT NAPLES WANTED. This was 2008. He had some really skilled craftsmen and some real losers on his payroll. We ended up taking care of finishing details that Naples and his crew left unfinished. The other commentators are correct - he's arrogant and doesn't finish the job ( as it turns out, while our debacle was going on he was being sued by someone for not completing a project). We paid him 20% to be a big mouth, full of himself, braggadocios ass.

A REVIEW THAT'S LONG OVERDUE!…read more I cannot sing the praises loud enough for Louise and her great staff! I went to Louise because I was adding an addition to my house. I knew what I wanted because I was copying a neighbor who added the same addition to his house. I met with Louise and she gently suggested that I may have a better option. For no extra charge, she prepared two black-line drawings: my design and hers. Hands down, her idea was much better, and I am so pleased about the design, and how it looks like it was part of the house; not an addition. I guess if you're smart enough, you can go to school to learn the math and science of architecture. However, to be good and great, you need to have innate artistic ability, which Louise possesses. Louise and her staff truly care. Example, when deciding whether to put in a sky light, Louise factored in the direction of my home, and how the sun tracks throughout the seasons. On another note, my GC asked Louise a lot of questions throughout the construction; he probably took more of Louise' time that I'm even aware of. Although I should have probably been billed for her time, she never did. When I made changes to the design, she did not take advantage of me. Her fees for the changes and extra printing were very reasonable. I can go on forever but, to sum it up, a true gem; a master of her craft; a good person, and a fantastic staff. Thank you, Louise:)

Siding to me is an art form. It is the last piece of "clothing" on your home. As an artist I had…read morea very specific siding vision. It was to reflect my art which at the time was all about lines. How lines connect and weave together to form an object. The siding was another personal piece of art. I wanted the entire house clad with Garapa wood, a beautiful blonde brazillian hardwood that was actually very had to work with. I wanted all sorts of lines grooved into the cladding at variable widths. i wanted to see waterfalls of wooden lines everywhere. crazy. but that is what Maynor and his team delivered, and so much more. The work was meticulous and beautiful. Architects have come by to admire the siding. The detail work that went into cladding 8000 sf of house and deck was immense. Around all the large windows were massive picture frames that were built on the ground and carefully lifted up 3 stories. Maynor was patient and sought hard to deliver a perfect product. Btw. I know everyone says this but this really is my very first online review of anything. Construction is such a difficult process, mostly bc of the experience of dealing with the trades. But Maynor and MOM construction were such pros I feel very compelled to write something. Happy to talk to anyone who has further qs! THANK YOU MOM construction!!!
