We ordered an ice cream, realized it was cash only, then my husband had to walk a couple blocks to an ATM while only my son had ice cream. Then the rest of us ordered when my husband got back. We stopped here for ice cream one night. I ordered a strawberry milkshake, and it was pretty good. They use Blue Bell ice cream, so that automatically makes it good. FYI, this place is cash only, and they don't have an ATM onsite. There is one down the street. It kind of sucks because they don't have that posted on the door, and the only signage is when you go to pay (after they've given you the ice cream). Also, they didn't have their hours posted on the door which was a little confusing too. Overall, this is a good place to get ice cream! read more

Don't go here. The customer service was 0/10. Not friendly at all. In fact, the girl essentially stole from us. She shorted us $6 in change and I had to explain to her how math works. She said "well how much do I owe you then" You're the one at the register.. I also looked at the board and a single cone was clearly $4.50 and she charged $6. It was hot outside and I needed something to cool me down, pronto! I was walking past Soda Pop's and saw ice cream shakes advertised as well as ice cream cones! My son and I went inside and were waited on quickly. The young man behind the counter was polite and must have seen sweat dripping off my brow because I had a huge ice cream cone ready for consumption in a second. We stopped here for ice cream while in town. Such a cute little shop! They ice cream soda, hard ice cream, homemade flavored soft serve. It has a cute 50s soda shop vibe. Lots of memorabilia. I had an orange soda and it was delicious but huge! I had the small and it was two scoops of ice cream and a giant cup of orange flavored soda. The service was quick and most people were taking it to go like us but there are booths there for you to sit and enjoy. The staff are.fast, friendly and helpful. Explained all the options and were friendly. Parking is street which can be limited in the summer. read more

The ice cream is of good quality, but the customer service was horrible. We met three other couples for an evening dessert. It was an hour before closing, and the manager/owner started putting chairs on the tables and began cleaning up. He wanted to sweep under our tables, so we packed up our shakes and went outside and sat on the benches. After 5 minutes, the owner came out with his gas-powered leaf blower and started blowing straw and other garbage out into the street. This is a cute little ice cream store right downtown in Bryson City, an easy walk for a snack after a train ride. If you're used to some of the modern ice cream stores with 31+ flavors, this is NOT that experience. If you've ever watched the "soup nazi" episode of Seinfeld, you can think of the proprietor as the "ice cream nazi". Don't bother asking for a taste since they don't do that. Sure, he said they were "out of tasting spoons", but given how long they've been out its a fair bet he just doesn't want to give tastes. To be fair, given the limited selection, if you're not sure what strawberry ice cream tastes like then a small taste isn't going to help. There's only a few flavors so it shouldn't take any time to choose between the normal ice cream flavors you've had thousands of time. Note this is a cash only establishment, and we were $2 short, and he gave us the ice cream anyway, which was pretty nice. Not as nice as signing up for a Square account and taking cards like the rest of the retail world, but still a nice gesture. I'm not sure why places that are cash only don't at least put out a sign on this day an age. read more

The worst and unfriendliest service in town. Getting ice cream should not be a negative experience. It's a shop that looks cute, but it is sadly just a tourist trap with grocery store ice cream. There is a kid (boy with very dark hair) that is very rude, arrogant and obnoxious. This store does not give samples and could care less if you are a satisfied customer. They will tell you there are no "sample spoons" but there are at least 100 small spoons there on the counter. Rather than give a tiny sample, they give up the sale. No tiny taste to see if the customer likes the ice cream ?? So cheap and such bad service. It is so bad that a place like this can represent what is otherwise a friendly town. There are multiple bad reviews and now I saw it for myself - even little children were not able to get a small sample. Go to Chocolate Shoppe across the street for nice service and high quality ice cream. It's where locals go. read more

Love this place right in the heart of Bryson City, NC. It has the total old school ice cream parlor feel. They just moved about 100' from their old spot, still has the same street parking. Family owned, just like the way it used to be. Prices are average, but they serve Blue Bell ice cream so it's worth it. They have ALL the ice cream parlor favorites. Prices are pretty high for what you get on most things. The small soda at $0.75 was a pretty good deal. My sisters got the sodas (just regular fountain soda), and I got a root beer float. The float was good, but sadly, I've had better from other places for a much better price (Stewart's in NY state, for example). The root beer they used was Barq's, and the ice cream was Mayfield. The cups were styrofoam. I'm setting you up for the next paragraph... They have some neat stuff on the walls, but what really makes this place falter in my ratings is the price for what you get. None of it is homemade or anything. Four dollars for an ice cream float (Barq's + Mayfield vanilla)? Four dollars for a smoothie (I pray the fruit is fresh, but probably isn't)? Four dollars for an ice cream (Mayfield, which costs $4 a gallon in the grocery store)? Huh? I should have read previous reviews about costs. I mainly went because I though it had a cool name. Won't come here again. Won't recommend it. I feel stupid because Ingles is just down the road, and I could have picked up a case of root beer for the price I paid. read more

I'd rather spend my money somewhere else. Ordered a custom blended flavor which was not specified as extra on their menu and was upcharged $2 on top of a single scoop priced. I just like up front honesty and transparency. We wandered in here looking for a bathroom recently as vacationers. I ordered a chocolate malt before I realized there wasn't a public restroom but holy wow, am I glad that I did. It was easily one of the best malts I've ever had. The proprietor was super friendly and the shop itself is really cute. If I hadn't sworn off my Coke addiction in the last year, I would have been ordering lots more. I didn't find the prices to be outrageous like some of the other reviewers. They seem on par with any cafe I've gone to in the last year. Most places have raised prices incrementally on any dairy as the price of milk went up in the past few years so it makes sense to me that a milkshke would run around $4. read more

Was pretty disappointed when we got there and they directed us to Coca-Cola bottles in the cooler. The employees did not even know there was a website for the store!
