I hired the company for a move. Great staff, fair pricing and the movers arrived on time. I would rate 5 stars if not for the communication issues between the movers and myself. Once they arrived and conducted the initial walk through I believed everything was good to go. I didn't learn until later that they had some concerns and issues. I spoke with their management and we were able to work out the problems and the company went above and beyond to satisfy the situation. They first said they needed photos, then said they don't cover damage to the home, only to the furniture, by the pound. Run. Don't walk. Away from Soda City. Summer is a time for people to transition from home to home and if you are asked for recommendations about movers in the Midlands area, tell them to steer clear of this outfit. Soda City offered me $700 to not write this review, likely because they knew the amount of damage they caused to my belongings far exceeded what they were offering me to go away. Had I accepted their meager offer, I would have had to agree to not post details about my experience to social media. I don't need the money, but you need to know that you shouldn't do business with them. Not only did I find them to be unsympathetic and combative. I also learned that they were recording all of our conversations without my consent. They'd tell you that it's legal to do this in SC under "one party consent laws" but just because you can doesn't mean you should. At a minimum they should inform their customers that they are doing this. It just made me all the more mad, highlighting how distrustful and sneaky are. They also had a system where they expected me to tip and pay their workers at the end of every day--like I'm gonna run off with my stuff that they hadn't even finished putting on the truck. I now realize this is because they wanted to get their money and tips before I figured out how horrible they were going to end up being. You'd think that moving the contents of my 2800 sqft home 150 miles away, wouldn't be so hard, but they did such a poor job packing and loading my furniture on their truck that I ended up with substantial damage to include: they leaned mattresses up against a family heirloom that resulted in breaking the plaster detail of a framed family heirloom. The pedestal of a table had 3 of four legs broken off. They broke a leg of my dining room table, gouged a leaf in the table, and damaged 6 out of dining chairs. The bar stools for my kitchen were also denuded on the back sides--evidence of poor packing, wrapping and securing of our stuff to keep the truck vibration and movement from incurring any damage. I paid for the extra insurance and I'm glad I did, but they have yet to make me whole. They refused to pay for the artwork they damaged. Then they had a repair guy come to my home and he did a good job. But he took the pedestal table base with him back to Columbia. I have yet to get that back and it's been over 3 months. Soda City says they'll get around to returning it to me, but I have yet to receive any indication of when that will be. read more

We thought we'd pay the highest price around and instead we had the worst move experience ever. First of all, they claimed they'd cover and w.rap the floors and the stair railing and all the furniture. As my daughter and I were finishing packing, we didn't keep an eye on them. They only wrapped two tiny tables which were the only thing that did NOT get scratched and broken. They broke my Broyhill bed and put it together wrong, scratching the bed everywhere, they broke a few other pieces of furniture. They put a large dent in the stairway and scratched the floor because they did not cover it. They did damage to the walls, I'll include photos of all of it. They claim it's my fault for not getting all the photos to them in 96 hours. We couldn't for they'd blocked most the furniture with boxes. How can it be our fault when they promised to cover and wrap everything. It's our first home and they've taken the joy out of moving in, for now all of our furniture has damage or was broken. read more

"Movers who don't give a SH**" aka "We're fast because we don't give a crap" I work and husband is disabled, so we hIred then to move a bedframe, a mattress a dresser and a few other items for son to move into room at a house near USC. Didn't give son a chance to put tape on boxes so they could move them, didn't take carpet and, most importantly, didn't tell son they were leaving. THERE WAS NO ONE AT THE DESTINATIONTO MEET THEM! Son needed to leave at the same time to meet them there. A little communication would have taken care of that quickly. Worse - called office to resolve and young man on the phone was more interested in arguing than resolution. I said as much and had to hang up to jump in the car to head that way. I am self-employed, so I really should have reduced the payment by the $150.00+ they cost me in revenue. Never, ever again. read more

I have moved with soda city movers at least four times before and have never had a problem. This was the worst experience that I had with them. I moved in August and moved from a one bedroom apartment to my sister's house. My first advise is to order a tv box!!!! The movers broke my new tv and it wasn't covered and because I didn't purchase a tv box, it wasn't covered! Even though they put the tv in the middle of the floor where they were walking and knocked it over! I admit that it was my fault to not order the box and not read the statement that said it wouldn't be covered without one. But I had moved with this company many times before and I never ordered a tv box and never had a problem! The crew was very careless with my items. They dropped a box of dishes and when I repacked it they turned it UPSIDE DOWN knowing it was the box I just repacked! They took apart my couch that has three parts, and when they moved it into my new residence they just sat it there and didn't bother to reattach it. They dragged my tv stand across my sister's hardwood floors leaving marks! When I told them that I wasn't taking my washer and dryer with me they celebrated like they had just won the lottery. When they arrived they spent at least 20 minutes trying to get their truck into a parking spot, ultimately not being successful, but didn't subtract it from their time. As I said, I have used this company before moving and I was expecting the same respect that I received before but was greatly disappointed. Three men with a very large truck, and the appropriate equipment. The men worked steadily, well coordinated with each other, and did everything I asked. It was a little complicated because I was moving things from storage, some to my house, and some to the auction company...and picking up things from my house to go to auction. I was frankly surprised they could do it in 2 hours, but they did! There was one small mixup of them leaving a piece behind, but when I called the office, they sent someone out immediately to take care of it! Great customer service. The only issue I had was having such a large time window within which to expect them. The movers recommended to me to get a bigger warehouse . I had rented 2. So, I rented another warehouse that was bigger. So, I ended up paying for 3 warehouses for 1 month. As it turned out, I didn't need the bigger unit. I had this company pack for me. They bill by the quarter hour. The packers spent 45 minutes talking and having a great time. Then, presented a bill that not only included the 45 minute break, but an extra 10 minutes to bill for the 15 minutes. When they moved, they didn't bring a big enough truck to move everything, even though the same people packed up everything and knew what had to be moved. So, a large amount of boxes still had to be moved by myself and friends. Rather than tell anyone they were going to take a lunch break, they just took everything with them and got lunch, leaving the us at the storage facility wondering where did they go. Once the movers showed up at the storage unit, they didn't follow instructions. They did not put items in the storage unit as we wanted. Again leaving the job to us to empty the storage units and rearrange things. Who separates a bed from the mattress? They also cleaned the trunk out keeping us waiting, and charged for that time as well. Do not use this company. They are cheaters. They are not interested in doing a good job... I mean a mediocre job for the clients. They tell you the rates are the same as any other movers, but charge for breaks, lunch and cleaning time, and still not move everything. They cost me valuable time and money. Again, do yourself a favor and use someone else. read more

Extremely bad experience with this company. Could not recommend them at all. Workers yelled at each other all day. Quite a bit of damage done to my property, including a broken water pipe. The company is unwilling to do anything about it even though I only asked for them to pay for the $175.00 plumber charge, not even the landscape damage. I know that some people have had great experiences with this company. I really wish that I had been one of them. I did not feel any concern or caring from management at all. If I could give less stars I would. We hired 3 people for a 2 hour time slot in the morning so as to beat the heat. They were an hour late. They spent another 15 minutes telling us they would not move anything out of attics or closets. They loaded 3/4 of our boxes into our moving truck along wit some of our small furniture. When we asked them to load our couche, they got very upset. Two of the movers sat in the truck smoking marijuana while the other guy decided if they would move the couches. Two guys pu the couches in the truck while the other guy remained sitting on the truck watching. After this, the two guys went back to the truck and continued smoking. This burned up the last half hour of our time slot. We asked them to stay for one more hour and offered to pay for it. They gave several different excuses and ultimately refused. Also the manager was rude and extremely disrespectful. I absolutely would not advise using this company. read more

UPDATE: I just hired SCM again to handle all the boxes of personal goods for my move (last time I hired them to move only the big stuff -- sofa, refrigerator, range, etc.). This time I had Steven, Joe, and Tommy helping me, and I was amazed how quickly they got the job done. I love how professional and efficient the whole operation is, from the initial phone booking (they give you a precise estimate that is also emailed to you), to the timeliness of the moving crew (you get an hour window when they will arrive, and then they call with a precise ETA when they're on the way), to the work ethic/professionalism of the actual moving team (they all work equally hard to get the job done and are friendly and respectful of you and your belongings). This was an absolute horrible experience for me during a time I needed this company the most! Not only do I have video recordings on my security camera of David a stating he was over it at 3 o'clock and he's not going to pack any more boxes or finish the job I was still charged for it even though they didn't deliver on their services. When I learned this after the fact they were scrambling for time I even heard David a mention that there should've been three men on the job instead of two and that they are going to be there all night. The next day when they were supposed to do the move not everything was packed so it took a lot longer and they were throwing my items in the back of the truck loosely without being packaged or wrapped properly and the mattress bags that Harold asked if I wanted and I said yes I did we're not even used on two of my very expensive pure latex mattresses therefore they got destroyed with dirt and ripped. They also destroyed a side table and broke off the legs, Drug my white feather sofa across the floor so it's brown and black and then partially wrapped it to make it look like they were trying to do the right thing after it had been done and tore a hole in the material! As if that wasn't bad enough they left my items in the parking lot for a long period of time while delivering the goods and it started raining on my hundred percent feather white sofa! I also have broken lamps, scratched furniture and items threw haphazardly into the truck and The extra pieces and hardware to the furniture is nowhere to be found! As if that wasn't bad enough they left all kinds of items I took pictures of with the date and time stamp on it to prove they had not finished the job yet they still charged my credit cards anyway almost $3000 for a 1200 square-foot move not even 3 miles down the road! So I had to get other people to go back into my apartment because this two day fiasco consumed a lot of my time I couldn't work on top of being sick and they left a lot of things behind including their urine in my toilet and left the lids up! They were not happy they had to go in and make at least 12 trips when they were going to leave me with that! David a even said can't you get somebody else to go back in there and do that!? I would not have even left this company one star however that is the only option but this is the most horrific move I have ever experienced in my life and over $18,000 worth of damage to my very expensive furniture they told me they would not repair it once it was in storage. I was also rudely told by the lady that answers the phone that it was up to their discretion on whether they wanted to replace or fix an item which was six cents on the 10 which is absolutely unacceptable! Both men David and Jamal both admitted to me that they understood why I was upset that they would be upset too check and also prove but David were talk out of both sides of his mouth as with Jamil relayed to me by the office lady! The whole thing was a big giant mess and they didn't stack things up in the storage unit high enough to fit everything properly because There were more items left in my apartment that They didn't finish moving which I have the pictures of with a time and date stamp as well! To say I am disappointed would be an understatement I would highly recommend not using this company! They put five holds on two different credit cards one of which is considered double dipping a charge that was added on that was not added up correctly without my permission and then they decided to place a hold at my other bank on my other card for that same transaction amount that was different overall very unprofessional and shady and no apologies given other than the men stating they understood why I was upset and that they would be too! read more

These guys worked with a smile and they were lightning fast without sacrificing attention to detail and caring for your things. I mean, WHAM! BAM! and stuff was out of our 10x20 packed storage unit and in the truck (we recently relocated from Los Angeles, but left stuff in storage until we purchased our home). I've used Soda City 3 times. The first 2 experiences were great, hence why I called them for my most recent move. During my last move, one of the movers slid a piece of furniture across the floor instead of picking it up and scratched the flooring. My house is new construction, and I hadn't even had the keys for a full hour at this point. I get it though, mistakes happen. The mover was very apologetic and assured me that someone from the office would be contacting me regarding the damage. I waited a few days and never heard from anyone, so I reached out to them. It took several weeks and multiple conversations with various people in order to get someone out here to fix the damage. I attached a photo of the scratch after it was "fixed." Based on this experience, I would not be able to recommend Soda City to potential customers. I switched to soda city movers last minute. Had reservation with 2 men and a truck (which I've used several times before no problems) but wanted to get moved earlier in the week. Overall it was a bad mistake. The movers were careful, didn't damage anything, etc but their attitude was horrible. They complained the entire time. Blamed me for allegedly not telling dispatch I had a washer and dryer (which I did) huffed and puffed when they were told certain pieces of furniture had to go up stairs. Made comments such as " you need to tell me where this goes im not decorating your house for you " and " do you know how heavy this is ". I could not wait to get them out of my house but I wanted them to unload the rest of my things safely. I saw great reviews from soda city and thought I would be comfortable with them....it turned Out to be a very unpleasant situation. I've moved 4 times in the past 2 years including back and forth from Texas...and I've never encountered this level of disrespect read more

To celebrate my one year Columbian anniversary I moved across town. There's quite a few local moving companies available so I started calling. First, Soda City gave me a much lower estimate than all the other companies. I don't have a lot of stuff and told them it shouldn't be more than a couple of hours even though I was moving from a third floor apartment. Every other place wanted to tack on extra fees or extra moving guys but Soda City was willing to work with me. They were even able to fit me last minute even though there weren't to many openings left at all. They didn't start charging until they actually arrived at my place and started to actually work, whereas other places told me my time started as soon as they left their headquarters. The moving guys were prompt, friendly and efficient. They placed everything where I wanted ("Uh just place it on the floor here, yah that works") and finished right on the estimated time.
