I have been coming to this farmers market on and off for a couple of years now. I have seen a lot of vendors come and go but I'm glad it stays around. We the consumers need to support these little markets and I hope people go and support so they get bigger! Some people see only a few vendors and leave a review that it's not worth coming to but it is. If you actually take the time most vendors give samples and you can have a conversation about their products. I'm glad to see they have added tables and chairs for people to enjoy food. I hope people read this and go enjoy and support this market and its vendors. Plenty of parking. Check it out!

SoCo Farmers Market is conveniently located in SOCO (South Coast Collection) & The OC Mix plaza. A portion of the parking lot is set aside exclusively for farmers market. [Hours]: Every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM. [Parking]: Plenty of spots to park as SOCO & The OC Mix plaza has a HUGE parking lot. [Amenities & vendors]: Public restrooms is available within The OC Mart Mix (where Portola Coffee Lab is located). The farmers market is pretty small with approximately 15 - 20 tents. It was not crowded at all and I only noticed few fruit/vegetable vendors. This farmers market isn't all that exciting with very limited selection. Nonetheless it is still located in SOCO (South Coast Collection) & The OC Mix plaza so you can check out restaurants in The OC Mart Mix as well as various showrooms on home decors which could take at least a hour to see most of stores. I wouldn't come here for serious grocery shopping and I think of this farmers market as a fun add on (say a short 15-minute visit) to SOCO & The OC Mix plaza.

Don't waste your time driving here since the vendors are sparse and there's not much to buy. Hardly any produce and no fish vendor, unfortunately. It was a bust.

I will say this farmer's market is easy to access and not too crowded. We came on a super hot day after a labor and delivery class when I was five months pregnant. We found a few little items but a lot of them were definitely not organic and about twice the price of Whole Foods. As far as being local some sellers had driven at least four hours away to sell their products. The sellers were all super friendly but with the price I don't know if could justify returning. It's a fun thing to do in any case. The items I did get were of high quality.

Only been here for a few times, and the most recent visit felt like there are less vendors than it usually is. This is probably not a farmers market that I will make a special trip to visit or visiting on a regular basis. However, for the vendors that are there, they do offer great quality and fresh produce. One of them, I recognize them from the Anaheim center Street farmers market. They always have great berries and fresh farm eggs. And there are seasonal fruit from a different vendors that sells persimmon, pomegranate, apples and pears, which are great as well. And you find your usual honey vendor, and some other non produce booth. What surprises me is that they have a scissors and knife sharpening vendor there. For that it deserve 1 solid star for this review. It just hard to find sharpening places around. They do sharpening fishing / hutning knives to pet grooming scissors to gardening tools. And I have big fabric scissors that I need to sharpen for years. So I would come back just for that. Overall, I do think that it is a quite small farmers market and they are prices a bit higher than some other market that is in the same scale. But with the convienece that it is next to Soco with all the other hangout places, it makes it a easy stop if you are in the area. So I would still come back for it

This farmers market is a bit smaller than most, but to be fair and seems like there are a lot of farmers markets going on every day particularly on Saturdays so I can see why it would be difficult to get a huge crowd of sellers here. What this place really needs and what got it going originally was the presence of the food trucks that really bring in the crowd. I suppose the reason they don't have them is that the food places SOCO and maybe even some of the farmers market vendors didn't like to have the competition but they have to realize that the food trucks will bring a lot of traffic into the farmers market as well as into SOCO and I know that the farmers market probably has little control over this is so girl is calling the shots but I still think you're good to keep making this point.

This Saturday, I attended the SoCo farmer's market for the first time. The market was holding a special event - the Farm to Food Truck challenge and I was asked to be a judge. I arrived before the event to check out the market. I love that it's located at the new SoCo collection in Costa Mesa however the vendor selection is still small. A variety of gourmet food trucks rotate throughout the market and there are tables and chairs to enjoy your farmer's market fare. I sampled bread from The Rustic Loaf, hummus from Baba Foods, almonds, honey, and various seasonal fruits. Given that my friends are in the immediate area I might see myself here more often to see how this market is doing.

So fresh!

This is my favorite farmers market in Orange County! All the vendors are so friendly and the produce is amazing. It's nice to buy produce that isn't going to go bad within 2 days of brining it home and everything I buy consistently lasts me through the week until I go the next Saturday. Seriously this is what food is supposed to taste like! Prices are comparable to a grocery store but the quality is so much better. Totally worth planning my weekend around!

Small enough to enjoy vendors without being pushed around by other customers. SoCo boutiques right there as well.

Ask the Community - SoCo Farmers Market

Hi Laken, is there any availability for new vendors?

Hi! Thanks for your interest! You can apply to be a vendor here: https://www.farmermark.com/vendors

Hello there, just wondering if the market is dog friendly?

Since it serves food, you are not supposed to bring your dog in due to public health code and they could lose their license if caught. That said, people with dogs walk right by the signs that tell you not to. Hope they don't get cited

Are you still open in 2021?

Hi J C! We're open every Saturday, 9am-2pm. Thanks for asking!

Will you be open this Saturday on July 4th?

Hi Jodie, We'll be open on the 4th of July, but the market will close at 12noon.

Is there someone who sells farm fresh eggs?

Yes. There are a couple now.

Will a knife sharpener be there this coming Saturday, Nov 10th?

Hi Julie! Yes our knife sharpener, Arnie, will be in attendance this Saturday during the market! Don't forge to pick up a loyalty card from our info booth too! On your 5th visit, you'll get $5 in Farmer Mark Bucks to spend with any of our vendors!… Read more

I was worried at first as I saw mostly vegetables, which wasn't what I was there for. But when you move to the other side there are a lot of local businesses selling their goods and I ended up buying a few things I never would have anticipated (dips, sauces, etc.). Parking is super convenient (and free, which is interesting with the fair going on parking in the same lot and paying for it). The vibe seems super local. At multiple points people told me the stall I was at was great, had great stuff, etc. And also at multiple points other patrons interacted with the vendors like friends. You can tell that these people go here weekly and support these small businesses/vice-versa, which is really nice to see.

On Thursday mornings between 9AM and 1PM at the OC Fairgrounds there is a farmers market..... if I…read moreremember correctly it is in parking lot D and I entered through Gate 3 from Fairview - just keep an eye out for the vendor tents along the west side of the amphitheater. The tents were arranged in a rectangle with the Douceurs de Paris coffee truck in the middle sort of like wagons around a campfire. There were a number of produce stands, prepared food stands, and condiment stands. There wasn't much in terms of food vendors selling something you could eat right there nor were there any real accommodations for anyone wanting to sit down and eat other than the few chairs and tables at the coffee truck. At the time I entered the market area there was a long line at the La Bahn Ranch stand - people waiting their turn to buy eggs. I ended up buying some persimmons from the Kandarian Brothers (surname - and not related to evil dead) stand after they gave me samples of their delicious ripe persimmon pieces. I didn't stick around too long though as it was a rather hot day and the setup was not conducive to just chilling and hanging out - it's just a parking lot after all.

So for those who love eating a lot of greens and variety, I definitely recommend it. It's also a good store when you just need to pick up small items like milk, eggs, or vegetables. Their fruits and vegetables are cheaper than Trader Joe's. They also often carry halal organ meats like liver and chicken hearts. Some items can be a bit overpriced, but the fruits and vegetables are definitely worth buying - they taste like they're straight from the garden. The downside is that you should be careful while choosing berries - sometimes there can be mold (though this can happen in any store). And that there's a credit card processing fee. However, despite a few drawbacks, I'm giving it 5 stars because their business is really valuable, and I wish them continued success and prosperity. I definitely recommend stopping by - there are always many interesting and tasty things to find at affordable prices. The cashiers are also very kind and friendly, thanks for the service!

It's definitely not the biggest but I think they have just about everything you would look for in a Farmer's Market. Lots of pre-cooked food options available so make sure to come hungry to try them all. The ones that are honorable mentions: the coffee booth that serves unique flavored lattes, the empanadas station (it is so moist and different than I've ever had anywhere else! - would highly recommend!), and the tamale station (most popular station I would say and I know why. The tamales are very flavorful and moist. The hot sauce also compliments it very well. Would highly recommend!) There were other cool spots that I would want to try next time: Cold Noodles, Filipino food, and a Mexican Zamba juice beverage booth and others! I like this farmers market mainly for the chicken eggs (kind reminder to NOT buy white eggs from the lady here. Her white egg yolk is not rich in color or flavor. It's what I would buy non-organic everywhere else. Look at my pic for reference), fresh produce, and berries/fruits! They sell lots of other things like hummus, hot sauce, fun activities, and more!
