I am posting this review to Yelp to warn potential clients. If you or a loved one is considering this Puyallup facility for recovery, please read this and protect yourself. While my 2025 course of treatment was clinically adequate for court compliance and the counselors were ok, their finance department appears to operate on a disorganized, "see what sticks" billing model.
During my program, local finance staff blocked me from attending my required classes, claiming an automated balance was past due. When I called to fix it, I was told I was supposed to pay a monthly installment indefinitely, even though I had already paid my finance agreement in full. When I challenged them on this, they pivoted and claimed they suddenly needed to audit my account for "finance charges" instead. They ultimately backed down once I directly referenced my signed financial agreement.(and that I was holding it in my hands.)
It didn't stop after graduation. Several months after I successfully finished the program, they sent me a collection letter trying to collect a new, undocumented balance of over $600! They ignored multiple written requests for accounting transparency and when I called them, flat-out refused to provide documentation. Resolving this collection attempt took three months and required about a full work-week's worth of my time. I had to compile my bills, send a formal dispute via certified mail, file regulatory complaints, audit my EOB's and formally escalate the issue to their corporate management team just to get them to hand over my full ledger. Even then, it was incredibly sloppy and appeared to have been faxed from 1994. While the itemization matched my payment contract (verifying that everything itemized was paid for as my agreement outlined), several line-items did not appear to be filed correctly with my insurance upon cross-referencing with my Explanation Of Benefits from my provider.
Thankfully, my account has since been cleared. However, because of their disorganized accounting and/or mishandled claims, I was never truly able to verify their final math and for all I know, may have still been overcharged based on the pattern established in my EOB's.
Navigating early recovery is hard enough without a treatment center weaponizing court compliance to intimidate you into paying more. No one should have to relentlessly advocate for themselves to this degree simply to receive fair treatment and basic accounting transparency. Regardless of the horrendous nature of their accounting department, I paid what I contractually agreed to and that should have been the end of it. I am deeply concerned that my experience is not novel.
Consider this a firm warning: DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. Save every single email, keep copies of your signed contracts, and look at your insurance EOBs. Monitor your mail closely after graduation. Do not take their word for anything. If you are experiencing billing difficulties with them, file a formal report directly with the Washington State Attorney General. Being beholden to court compliance does NOT vacate your consumer rights. Protect your finances, because this department may try to exploit them. read more
