I went with him to find the dog. By the time I got there, he had already called his supervisor. The mail carrier had other mail to deliver, so I told him to go on. His supervisor was here very shortly. I hadn't taken my phone, so the supervisor called my husband for me. He stayed with me until my husband got here. It was our and our dog's fault, not the fault of the mail carrier. Both the mail carrier and his supervisor were very kind and caring. Our dog is recuperating.
