I made an appointment, went through security then checked in on the kiosk. I checked in at 10:27am for my 10:30am appointment and got called right away! My appointment itself took less than 5mins for a name change process / apply for new social security card. Plenty of metered parking on the streets. Great experience. read more

surprisingly pleasant experience. while it may be hard to find an available appointment, once you actually get one, the process is not too difficult. i had to replace my beat up 40 plus year old SS card since the online option was not very user friendly. once i got to the location, i checked-in online, and got my ticket number, a la the DMV. no longer than 2 minutes into the podcast i downloaded to kill the time, was i called to a window. 2 mins after that, my SS card was processed to be sent in the mail (kinda defeats the purpose of coming in person, but, that's a different topic). then i was back in my car. 1 spent $1.50 to park for an hour and only used 10 mins. impressive. read more

The officers were great. The woman behind the window was not. Didn't give info that I needed to successfully accomplish my goal of Social Security card for relative. Was upset that I couldn't hear her while a woman behind me was screaming. My visit went exceptionally well last week. This office is serving appointments only. I wasn't aware of this until PJO Guerrero informed us when we were standing in line. I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to enter but I was told to go there to sign paperwork by an employee. PJO Guerrero said it will be ok. PJO Guerrero explained to everyone in line how the security procedure will go. It's a two part thorough security check. Both officers worked very well together. PJO Mero is one focused man and you have to be these days. There wasn't any signs of one overshadowing the other. PJO Guerrero & PJO Mero works very well together. They both answered any questions that was asked politely and professionally. When customers see them working well together it tends to go smoothly. No irritated customers. If you're planning on going to this office make sure you have an appointment. Say hello to PJO Guerrero & Mero. Kindness goes a long way. read more

I was there to turn in a form that I filled out specifically as the Medicare Agent instructed when I called the national SSA office the day before. I went at 3:35 pm on a Friday.  While the wait was short, it was clear the agent I was dealing with was ready to leave.  She really couldn't be bothered.  She was abrupt, dismissive, annoyed, refused to listen and didn't even bother to even glance at the form I filled out let alone read the form (which she refused to take).  She didn't tell me anything I didn't already know and actually gave me incorrect information.  It was a colossal waste of time and I truly feel bad for anyone forced to deal with this terrible system and its deliberately awful staff.  I could've accomplished more (and gotten accurate info) if I'd done everything online. If you MUST deal with an SSA office, avoid this one. The security guards, however,  were friendly and helpful. read more

If you don't have an appointment you won't be able to be seen. Call the office early and make one so you can get one right away same day. I don't typically write reviews for any government experience, however was SO impressed with the service across the board here!!! Came to change my name on my social security card after I got married and the process was so seamless. Security was super sweet and even congratulated me - very professional and friendly to all visitors. The associate that helped process my name change was also sweet & personable. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes! Parked on the street right outside the door and there are plenty of spots nearby or the garage parking under the building is also available. read more

After the frustration of trying to contact by phone several days, I clarify if walk in app were accepted, I was told that all offices accept walk inside, and was not a problem for me to wait my turn. And then I was called to the window 7, and the lady first was sarcastic about my question, then with irritated tone, told me, that she can't attend me because I don't have appointment, already was there! Today 7/8/2025 the lady from window 7, refused even to respond just yes, or no to one of my questions...I came to this office looking for a better service but today I found inefficiency, irritated, sarcastic, and dismissive treatment when intending get the resources we pay for! The level of service is completely unacceptable! .......We need Reforms, the system is really broken! Were to find the service we deserve? The street parking is limited and hard to find. And then building's basement parking is extremely expensive without any grace period. I parked 22 minutes for $6. So, prepare yourself enough money for parking so you don't get shocked by the bill. The security is asking everyone in line with any privacy. I don't feel too comfortable about it. But I also know that is his job. 2 scans to get a seat even babies in the stroller have to be scanned. Security is tight and there are a lot of people waiting. It is better to have an appointment. The service is ok, the restroom is average in terms of cleanness. I also hope government can improve its service and efficiency. read more

I had to call again to ask one question in regards to the appointment and I got her again and she was beyond rude not knowing it was me. I stopped in @ 2:30 on Monday the 22nd of January and had to go thru metal detections, and the wand procedure. I can't say enough good and respectful things about PSO Guerrero, and PSO Shaffer conducting the search. It was explained what the procedure would be, and these fellows were kind and respectful in all aspects. Way to go, for fabulous customer service while doing their jobs. I've been meaning to write a review about this SS office, as I went at the end of February. After going to the dmv to get my real ID, I forgot I never changed my last name on my SS card when I got married. Obviously that's an issue now so I needed to go into an actual office to get it changed promptly as to not hold up my app with the dmv. I came here like an hour after they opened and only had about 4 people ahead of me. From the security guards to the clerks, every one was nice and helpful. And the office was clean. The clerk I had was quick to assist me & I was out of there within 30 mins. I even got my updated SS card in the mail within a week, earlier than expected. Most SS offices are NOT like this, trust me. If you are in LA, this is the one to go to if you have to. read more

Government offices will always have a negative connotation. Long wait time, bad service, messy, inefficient, not in this location. I am aware that people's experiences differ from person to person. Nevertheless, it was a positive one for me. Wait time (10/10): 30 minutes. I came in to get my SSN card and I was in and out of there after half an hour (this was a walk-in). Service Quality (10/10): The lady that served me was very polite and efficient with her work! Due to my positive experience, I recommended this branch to my girlfriend and her experience was also great! Parking (7/10): Unless there is a parking structure that I am not aware of, you would have to find street parking which has a 1 hour limit. The spaces can be limited at times, so maybe plan to come here during off-peak hours (my girlfriend and I came here during those hours and always managed to get parking space). Overall, this is a good branch and would recommend it to anyone who wants a pleasant experience visiting the social security administration office. read more

I can't believe I'm praising a government agency but I really had a great experience here when I assisted an older relative. The two federal policemen at the door were quite pleasant and respectful; I feel sorry for them having to repeat the same speech to everyone who comes into the office. (I think they should be allowed to record it.) The office was not busy (we went mid-week, which I recommend) and after signing in at a kiosk, the wait was less than 15 minutes. Very difficult to visit due to the entire building wrapped with construction. Unlike the many previous reviews it was not a fast or efficient trip. I came at 1:45PM and my visit took more than an hour in total. Although the Security Guards are very pleasant, they prefer not to let you into get your number and sit down. The entire waiting room had very few people sitting. Everyone was made to wait, single file, practically without space (forget about social distancing) in a very narrow hallway before your security check and pat down. Bad idea for health reasons. I asked the SS Clerk if the office was busier than usual and she looked at my ticket and remarked I had only waited 15 minutes. Not true - I waited 45 minutes before I could get my ticket! Masks are mandatory and parking is on the street, so good luck finding a spot. read more

I had been calling and not one agent picks up the telephone. This place needs an actual telephone number so I can call . The 800 number is a bad idea! It needs a local number! I am trying to tell them that I'm an US Citizen so I can work in this country but it takes too long and this horrible pandemic kills it. Incompetent and lazy. I was worried my online account showed no updates of forms I mailed in. When I called to follow up a lady was very angry with me and said it was my fault for not doing it even though I said I did do it. I heard my lazy agent in the background, that finally checked his mail in real time, say he actually did receive the mail. Also because my agent got confused by their own application he denied my claim. This caused me to lose my health insurance and apartment. I AM A CANCER PATIENT. Now on appeal my approval has been set back nine months. I have been forced to go back to work trying not drop dead there on a daily basis and I still can't afford both rent and healthcare. START YOUR APPLICATIONS VERY VERY EARLY AND FOLLOW UP AS MUCH AS YOU HAVE TIME FOR. My agent is at the Westwood location avoid it at all costs. read more

Best social security office ever! Guards were kind and I was joking with them, everything's so efficient as well at the windows

So after calling SSA twice and the recording telling me the wait was 90 min or longer I decided it would just be faster to come in person. And boy was it! I put in 2 hours in the meter and only needed 15 min. I was done SO FAST. By the time the machine spit out what # I was and I was looking for a seat they already called my number cause the guards told me I came at a good time and no one was there. I got lucky. Here's a tip, go toward the end of the day or the afternoon. Just a warning, the security here is intense. It's how it should be at airports. The guards were very nice, but not expecting this level of security, it was a bit intimidating. It took me longer to see the 2 security guards than to wait for my number to be called. They looked thru my purse and wanded me front and back with my arms extended out and also made me sit down to wand each of my outstretched legs. At least you know it's safe there! read more

SS, only if you can afford it. It provides all kind of languages if you are not English speaking but....(and the government even gives you free English classes.) If you can't afford to have phone service, you are out of luck. You can't even make an appointment but they think nothing wrong of it. I'm in the process of saving for the phone service. read more

The staff here are very nice and friendly. Even over the phone. I went in for a name change. I arrived at 8:45 am and the guards were already letting people check in. They do a thorough bag search, use metal detectors around your body and feet, the whole thing. Seems a little intimidating at first but the guards were cordial and explained the entire process. After that you're asked to check in using their Kiosk. There's only one, so people are waiting to use it in order to fill out the basic information and get a ticket number. They start calling out numbers at 9:00 am. I was about the 8th person waiting and was called to the window at 9:08 am. I was out of their by 9:15 am. It went pretty quick for me as I had my form already filled out and had my documents and ID ready. One thing to note, due to Covid, we were advised only the person who needed to be there was allowed to go in. In this case, only I was allowed in and my husband, who drove me there, had to wait downstairs. I believe they only allow a caregiver or someone like that since I did see one person accompanying an elderly guest. Overall, great location. read more

I've never been to Social Security before. I chose this location because of the positive Yelp reviews. It opened at 9 am on a Wednesday, and I was out by 9:05 am. I did arrive at 8:30 am and waited outside with other people. About 8:50 am, they opened the doors, and those applying for a new card or name change were advised to form a separate line and entered first. Luckily, I was in that group. Security was strict and serious, which was expected. The representatives were friendly, and I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a smile at a government office. They also reassured us that we wouldn't wait too long. Check in was at a kiosk, and there was someone ready to assist you. I thought I would have to devote my entire morning in this office, but I'm happy it was fast and easy. There's underground parking available since it's in an office building, but they do not validate. read more
