We were among the first residences to be built…read morehere as the neighborhood began to develop & we lived in one of the original townhomes while our house was under construction. We've stayed because we genuinely like it here and it's a convenient location. The Borough had a master plan in place from the very beginning and has stuck to it as the neighborhood grew. The idea was to have restaurants, grocery shopping, doctors, sports activities, etc. within a walkable residential area and they have indeed achieved that. Since busy Route 228 bisects the 2 sections of Seven Fields, most everyone still drives to our destinations but they are nearby. The addition of the Adams Shoppes bordering the other side of Seven Fields has only enhanced the convenience. The neighborhood offers a Community Center that can be rented inexpensively by the residents. The neighborhood pool is great for kids and a season pass is reasonably priced. Swimming lessons and special events are available there. There are baseball and soccer fields surrounding the town park, playground and pool. The only thing overlooked there is a dog park. There are certainly enough canine residents here to warrant one. The past few years the neighborhood has hosted a carnival that has been very well attended with amusement rides, food, music and fireworks during a June weekend in conjunction with the weekend garage sale. The Borough is governed by a council, mayor and Borough Manager. They have always seemed to be a dedicated team who have made very thoughtful decisions and have always gotten the necessary jobs done as frugally as possible with the tax dollars entrusted to them. The roads are in great shape, the snow is removed in a timely manner, the police and fire companies respond quickly and it generally feels pretty safe here. Is it the most picturesque? Not quite, but it's home.

McCandless Township Sanitary Authority (MTSA) operates a sanitary sewer system of 4 treatment…read moreplants, 21 pumping stations, thousands of manholes, and hundreds of miles of gravity sewer. Since 2020, I have been a customer of MTSA. I used to have an irrigation system in my yard, but in 2021, an excavation company removed it, a plumber removed the deduct meter, and West View Water Authority inspected their work. Unfortunately, for 5 years, MTSA was somehow reading my deduct meter each year (the reading number never changed) and charging me an annual fee! In 2026, MTSA mailed me a letter that the employee was not able to read it. *For almost one month*, I called and emailed multiple MTSA employees multiple times to get them to finally remove me from their deduct-meter program. An employee from the billing department said that they would be able to give me a statement credit of $45 for only the reading in 2026, not the readings in previous years. I will give a neutral rating because the sewer system appears to function properly, but I do not appreciate how I was charged hundreds of dollars for impossible readings over years and how I had to follow up for weeks to get a partial solution.

I have never lived in such an unfriendly dog community. Cranberry has gorgeous parks and impeccably taken care of but, you are not allowed to walk your dog in any of the parks. As a matter of fact they have signs all over that say no pets, or no dogs!! There is one park that has an off leash area. And we all know how unhealthy off leash areas are for dogs. If you are a dog lover and like to socialize with other dog lovers. Don't move to Cranberry Township!!

It's concrete around the pool...no grass so I recommend taking a chair. The bathrooms need updated desperately!! $5 for adults and $3 for kids for the day. $30 pass for 1 person and $60 pass for 4 people. The pass is for the year so in the winter you can use the Oliver bath house in south side.

The Allegheny County AAA is my go-to for finding resources for seniors (those 60 years and older)…read more Many services are offered including information about senior centers, transportation, abuse /neglect reporting, caregiver support, Senior Companion (no, not dating), meal delivery, and much more. Many of the referrals I make are to request light housekeeping help and in home personal care assistance for seniors who can no longer manage those tasks on their own. I've also been to this office to attend continuing education events and update meetings on programming. As with any government agency, the process for seniors to receive services can be slow, we're talking months sometimes, maybe longer. I often follow up after making a referral if I have not received any updates on AAA'S end. Sometimes, I am notified if a rep could not reach my client, or that my email referral was received. Sometimes. Some services are income-based (Waiver programs, for example). Sometimes seniors receive the services for free, other times, they have to pay a certain amount out of pocket. This is case by case, of course. If a senior has Medicare and Medicaid with limited income/assets, there is a good chance that they would be eligible for more services. It never hurts to apply and at least see what's available for the senior(s) in your life. The SeniorLine number is 412-350-5460.

The library system has about 20 locations throughout the city, including this location in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood. My husband and I visited this library once recently. When we entered the library, a security employee kindly greeted us. We walked around the entire library and saw items such as nonfiction books, fiction books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, and more for both adults and children. We also saw information desks, dozens of computers, and desks and chairs. Furthermore, the library's website says that visitors may use Wi-fi, photocopiers and printers (for a fee), scanners, fax machines, and meeting rooms. Overall, we liked this library. This library in Squirrel Hill is not as large as the main library in Oakland, but I think that it is a great place for people of various demographic groups to read, study, relax, or work.

There's an Italian restaurant with an appetizing menu in the adjacent space (Cucina Alfabeto) and apparently a row of uniquely designed homes on Sampsonia Way, so you could easily spend a leisurely afternoon here.
