This place is amazing and I recommend it to anyone from experienced weightlifters to beginners. They are welcoming. I have done 1:1 sessions with Brandon (he is great and has a good sense of humor). Most recently I did a 3 part cleaning class with a small group and the attention you receive during those small classes is spot on. Chris the owner is also very welcoming. Although I'm not an actual member of this gym they treat you like one. They recognized my birthday even after not seeing Brandon for a long time I had a birthday card waiting for me. Sutter is the perfect definition of a true coach. Sutter is very professional, welcoming and brakes every step of each weightlifting position to simple steps to make any athlete confident. I haven't trained in about 2 years and I'm lucky to be part of this family that can't be a bit intimidating because everyone here has many years of experience. I have been a member of this gym for 3 years. This place is where you will be challenged mentally and physically while making tremendous strides athletically. As a woman, I never thought I could ever do a pull up of any kind. I never thought I would top the back squat number that caused me to herniate my L4/L5. I never thought I could snatch properly. All of those "nevers" have been blown away and it's down to the dedication and the knowledge of the coaching staff here. These are NOT your typical LA Fitness coaches - these guys are pros, who write personal programs for you, who have competed, and have won medals themselves. The coaches have sent some of the weightlifters here to compete on the national and international stage, with those athletes almost always bringing back medals, too. The coaches have really set the tone for the club. They are all not only professional, but personable, supportive, kind, and respectful. You will not find a single "Gym Bro" here and as a woman, it really is a place I feel safe. When you walk into SoCal Weightlifting Club, your eyes are greeted by the long string of medals and plaques on the wall, all won by members of the club. You'll see dozens of barbells and lots of quality bumper plates, change plates, racks, and jerk blocks. There is also plenty of equipment for accessory work and body building, ranging from dumbbells and kettlebells to a rubber bands to assault bikes and rowers. There is a large mat area for you to stretch out and foam roll. As a training facility, it really doesn't have an equal. It's huge and very well maintained. The community within the gym is fairly tight knit and the staff, headed by Chris and Sarah, makes it a point to foster friendships amongst the team by holding movie nights and potluck brunches in addition to the traditional competitive meets. Great people, great service and awesome vibes. Recently moved back to SoCal from the bay and looking for a new gym is the toughest thing in the world! With the pandemic, you don't know where is open or who's keeping it clean! Chris and the crew have sprays, hand sanitizers, clean cloths and wipes. They make sure you wipe down whatever you touch and reminds you to wash your dang hands! They also provide excellent coaching service to youth, teenagers, adults and older folks. It doesn't matter what level you are, you are always welcome! They make sure safety is #1 first with technique. Grateful that I was able to sign up and meet a bunch of awesome people. What can't I saw about Socal Weightlifting. It's a great place with an awesome community. My son has been a part of Socal team for 5 years. He was a shy, quiet kid in the beginning and now he goes around saying hello to everybody and makes sure to also says goodbye to everyone just before we leave. I joined in January with an open-gym membership because I just wanted a place to get my training in, but to also be in an environment with other like-minded Weightlifters. Despite just having an open-gym membership, I'd always ask SoCal's 3 experienced coaches (Spencer, Chris and Kody) questions about my own training and technique, and they would always provide detailed advice as long as you ask. One of the best parts of SoCal are the coaches who give an equal amount of care and instruction to anyone--whether you are a beginner or just dropping in. Eventually I was hitting a barrier in my own training and decided to join the Weightlifting team based on my positive interactions with the coaches, and seeing the numerous National Champions they have produced. I met with Spencer and he asked questions about my own training history, and we decided on which training program I should choose based on my skill level. Since then, I've been progressing faster than ever before and wished I joined sooner. I don't normally write reviews, but genuinely wanted to for this place. I've been in a weightlifting team before, but I have never been on a team that had 3 enthusiastic coaches who always actively helping everyone in the gym, provide personal check-up meetings and technique analysis. If you care about your own training, the coaches will care just as much if not more. I've always loved Weightlifting, but joining SoCal Weightlifting has reinvigorated my love for the sport. read more

I recently joined SoCal Weightlifting and I'm super glad that I did. I've trained at big box gyms and later got into CrossFit but I have never really gotten the attention to detail or personal training that I've experienced at SoCal. Being an athlete I kind of felt like I knew what I was doing and Everyone talks about form. I've had coaches, trainers/training partners and gym bro's all give their feedback and a I realize now after 2 decades plus that no one knew ... Including myself!! The coaches and coaching at SoCal do a really great job of putting you through the reps and breaking down the steps to successfully accomplish the fundamental Olympic Lifts that have become ever popular - Snatch & Clean and Jerk. This isn't a powerlifting or bodybuilding gym - although if you're into those sports you'll definitely find a similar passion and perhaps interest here - but an Olympic Weightlifting style training facility. It's probably the nicest facility I've ever been too specifically designed for that purpose in mind; very little machines or cardio equipment but a lot of barbells and bumper weights with a few racks as well. The whole gym is basically an Oly platform, it's awesome! With Covid they have stepped up their cleaning and sanitation routine, there's literally someone cleaning all day long our every time I've been there. They also have established an outdoor section to accommodate but the facility is really 'open air' also. If you tried Crossfit and like me the favorite sort was the lifting then come check this gym out and let them know I sent you ;) read more

I have mostly been doing crossfit with periods of pure weightlifting for the past couple of years. I joined this weightlifting club a couple of months ago with my boyfriend and I can truly say that this gym has been such a great experience so far. The first time we lifted there was a little nerve-racking since it was a new gym and everyone looked so much stronger than me! But everyone cheered us on as we did our lifts and encouraged me even though we had just met! The coaches there are super easy to get a long with and definitely have a deep understanding of each lift. We signed up for programming for 3x/week.
