The staff are amazing but Newport doesn't have enough of them. In my week of being there this is…read morewhat I experienced: -clients screaming and threatening to leave -clients meds getting misplaced and then clients having seizures/manic episodes and having to go to the hospital -having to caretake another client and regulate their anxiety attacks -a client ran out of the house screaming and a staff member had to run after them leaving the 5 other clients alone in the house for 20+ minutes -bonding with a therapist for a week and then being told I had to work with someone else who was only on campus once a week and not being given a choice because they only had 2 therapists -not being given the correct dosing of a nutritional supplement On top of all of this there was a DOG. A "service animal"--a puppy who was only 6 months old. The dog would bark all the time and staff had to take care of the dog INSTEAD OF THE CLIENTS. As far as I know the dog is still at the house after staff have told that client that the dog is no longer welcome because it is clearly not a service animal. The client was given a deadline to find a place for the dog and has been there for over a week. The staff are very kind but there is NOTHING they can do to fix poor situations because it has to go to higher ups which takes days. Therefore therapists/counselors then deal with these ongoing issues and cannot meet with other clients who are there to heal. Also there is no on site psychiatrist and you cannot reach her except for the one day a week you have an appointment. Overall that week was one of the worst weeks of my life and I ended up discharging myself. I would not recommend this facility.

Amazing staff! They really try to do their best with what they have. You can tell that they…read moregenuinely care about you and want you to get better.
