The last visit, they even had a free craft station (activity/colouring sheets, decorate a Barbie dress, and even snacks and drinks for the kids). My kid spent quite a bit of time making art here. The Joe Fresh clothing section is ample for our needs, as is the pharmacy and grocery areas. The seasonal goods can be useful too. The parking lot never seems full and we are usually able to shop here relatively quickly. Don't forget you can get a free cookie for the kids in the bakery too!

My recent experience was so different and why I'm writing a review. While shopping for groceries my wife and I saw a pergola on year end clearance at the store, but they didn't have any left other than the floor model. I was told to contact the Manager to see if they would sell it and find out how to get it home. I called the next day and Mike, (The Store Manager) not only said yes but threw in an additional discount considering it would need to be taken apart and loaded on my truck. When I arrived with tools in hand to take it apart Mike personally greeted me and personally helped me take it apart piece by piece and get it loaded. Talk about a "Hands On" Management style! I think it demonstrated to me and no doubt the employees that everyone from the Manager down is there to roll up their sleeves and help out when it comes to delivering great Customer Service.

I asked for a manager, she asked another cashier who said that I am manager M. ..( nobody had a name tag).at the end the couldn't explain it to me and when I asked their name, first cashier called me rude and if you say one more word I will ask security to escort you out with out your shopping. I didn't want to stand because my family were with me. I'm so sorry for this customer service. I do not go back there and do not recommended to anybody to go there.

I honestly don't think I've ever been in a more friendly SafeWay! I come here at least twice a week and have never been any less than impressed. The store is clean and stocked, carts and baskets are easy to find... If you can't find something staff are there to not just point but take you to where the item is. Not only are the staff helpful, friendly and genuine but they're also happy! Making small talk and commenting on the savings I've made are just some of the small things that keep me coming back.

They're always helpful, always ask if I found everything and if not, someone will go get it! When i was paying for my groceries yesterday I was asked for my Save on Card but didn't have the keychain with the card on it. The ladies at the till said thats unfortunate, we think you could save a few $$. Before I knew it one of them was searching around the tills for another customers card I could use. Swiped that card and they saved me $15.00!!! just by going the extra mile. I've been loosey goosey about where I buy my groceries but time and time again I leave Save on and think...why don't I always shop here??? I actually LIKE grocery shopping there:) I'm making it my regular go to place from now on!

But lately the bakery has been suffering from 'shrink-flation'. The in-store baked cookies have shrunk in size and the package has shrunk as well. These are the hermit, chocolate chip, etc cookies. And the Black Forest cake no longer has the cherry center layer but the price is still $23! There is some cherry flavour, but definitely not a real Black Forest cake anymore and not worth the money. Do not reduce the quality of the baked goods, I'll pay more, but I want the same good bakery quality.

Nifty little cafeteria where one can grab a meal and sit to eat. Very large bulk section. Fancy motion activated lighting in refrigerted isles to cut costs I guess. I've bever been one to sit and really compare prices when it comes to grocery chains. This has been my go-to grocery store for the past 5 years…read more I've always been partial to Safeway. Likely because it was the first chain I remember as a child here in Sherwood Park. As a driver...I also appreciate whatever incarnation of their fuel discout program is currently running (it changed "recently" when Safeway cards were mothballed). Store is always tidy. Staff are pleasant (a few are perhpas a little too chatty at the till and actually sliw things down). All in all... This is just where I shop. I really do think it's as much a familiarity thing as anything. But regardless of where I've lived in this capital city area...I've always gravitated toward Safeway when I can.
