My son accidentally found a YouTube video posted five years ago by the owner of Sober-Living Houston, Mike Hubacek, who murdered my husband and my friend and critically injured me a few minutes past midnight on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 1996. He capitalizes on the tragedy in the self-promotion of his "treatment center"!!! What gall!!! To this day, Hubacek has yet to show remorse or culpability. In his bio, he says, "I was involved in an accident where I blacked out."  Baloney!! It happened in West Houston on Westheimer between Tanglewilde and Gessner. Hubacek (his b.a.c. was .20 over three hours later) was drag racing over 100mph with his headlights off a few minutes after midnight on Thanksgiving, November 28, 1996 and drove through the back of my van and never even put on his brakes. My van spun around over 20 times after the impact and the wreckage went from Tanglewilde to Gessner and both sides of Westheimer. Hubacek was quite conscious at the scene of the wreck (it is never an accident when someone chooses to get in a vehicle and drive when they are intoxicated) as the paramedic who treated him talked to me a month later while I was still recovering in the hospital from the wreck. The paramedic told me that Hubacek never once asked how the people were in the other vehicle but when his pager went off, he was struggling to see who was calling him while he was strapped on the stretcher of the ambulance. Because of him, the life that I knew and expected to have was completely destroyed. Hubacek was court ordered to write a letter of apology and he wrote my husband's name as Richard instead of Steven! It was a "half-a" apology as well. When he was charged with two counts of intoxicated manslaughter, he asked if he could address the court. I thought he was going to show remorse and apologize to my children, my in-laws, and me. Instead, he asked the judge if he would be allowed to take his Paxil in prison. BOOHOO! He never apologized and Poe who was the Judge at the time, who was also in this video, made all kinds of promises and then amended his sentence three years later after he had milked it for all the publicity he could get. Ted Poe is a liar and a charlatan and the offender, Michael Hubacek, got off easy. After three years of restrictive probation, Poe amended everything and Hubacek was pretty much "Scott free". It's amazing how someone with money can get away with murder; in this case two murders! Hubacek has the audacity to own and run a treatment program all thanks to his affluent father, Michael Hubacek, Sr.. Mike was court ordered to speak to DUI offenders as part of his probation and after he spoke at Harris County's DUI program, the director at the time, Don Koontz, wouldn't let him come back and speak again because of the message he was sending out. It was more about what he had lost (poor me syndrome) and not about what harm and loss he had caused my family, Marlena's family, and myself!!! Over the years, I have heard from employees and past residents of their horror stories about Sober-Living Houston. Definitely not a place for a woman to go.  They have cameras everywhere, including in front of the women's bathroom! Sick!!! My brother paid $400 for two weeks stay at 10009 lazy oaks location one week ago. And I helped James and Tony move some furniture to the new women's house planned to open some time in the next month. On 10/27/20 I was paid $25 from James and $80 from tony and put $100 of it towards bettering my future as rent leaving myself $5. On 10/28/20 James has me use a dangerous sewer machine to unclog a drain which I reluctantly did because Clay told me if i didnt i would have to pack up and leave. Managing not to break my fingers i noticed that there had been tile motor hardened in the p trap. I told James about it and was told to give him a price. Not 12 hours later, in order to give him a propper bid, I'm having to dig a tunnel under the house to see and replace the pipes. James comes by to make sure everything is ok. It seemed to be. Until I am fairly confident on a more than fair bid of $850. James flips out saying he "didn't authorize that!" So I stop. "No problem" I say "but I need to be paid for work done and the trouble shooting" he then texts me to patch the 1'×18" hole I made in the closet, in order to snake the drain, without materials, and without replacing the plumbing, or be kicked out. So I start packing my things and start doing reserch on who to bill i find out from james's superior Monique Westfield that the CEO is Mike hubachek and Tony a man I never met is the owner of the property. James then showes up telling me to "leave or" he is "going to call the police!" So with a garbage bag of my clothes I walk down the street to one of the more ghetto parks in Houston, Haden park not a 1/4 mile away. I donate my things to one of the heroin addicts sleeping on the bench so that I can use his phone to call my mom for a ride. She lives 1.5 hours away but it was all I could do. This happened yesterday. Thankfully I am still sober, no thanks to SLH, and tomorrow i will start fresh calling news stations and with a new sober living facility. Please pray for me. Honestly I wonder how Mike Hubacek and his goon squad sleep at night, knowing people come to them for help getting sober and instead they bribe them to get high send them to detox or treatment after they get high for a couple days sponsored by the owner himself, maybe you'll get lucky you're a female and he'll get you a hotel room for a couple days send bottles to your room and watch you spiral down hill and maybe he'll laugh about it with his employees, at the end of the day, you can't get sober in a place where ones own employees are providing drugs for clients and not sober themselves. If you're female beware this man is a predator, straight up, he'll flash money in your face, free rent, shiny things and spark any addicts attention all to get you sleep with him, and it won't stop there Hubacek and his employees will then blow up your phone with questionable messages and unwanted pictures, but again not the place to go if you wanna get sober... the likelihood of you remaining sober is slim! read more

I lived in the women's sober living home a few years ago. While I was there the owner Mike Hubacheck slept with three of the girls staying there that I know of including one of my roommates. He has given women drugs in exchange for sex. We have reported him to the district attorneys office. Do not stay here if you are a women. Do not have any involvement with this man. Again his name is Mike Hubacheck. I personally witnessed text messages he had sent women that were living in his sober homes that were beyond grotesque. When I was staying there we had 10 women to one bathroom. I personally know several women that relapsed as a result of This man and his practices. I stayed here for a month- worst experience of my life. The owner, Mike, was sleeping with my 18-year-old roommate. Yes she was "technically" able to consent, but she was trying to recover from heroin! He took advantage of a newly sober individual who was TRYING to save their life. and the stories that my roommate told me..and I even heard him saying disgusting sexual things on the phone. I even saw a nude picture that was sent. I was disturbed finally after he told my roommate to go to IOP with "no panties on" and then told her he couldn't stop staring at my "boobs" during an AA meeting that he was CHAIRING. I wouldn't even give this place half a star. The owner AND his parents are disgusting human beings that prey on vulnerable young women in addiction. He attempts to have sex with all the female clients, with money, blackmail, and drugs. He's a complete pervert that lives off of his parents money and should STILL be locked up for manslaughter, but money got him out of that punishment after 3 years. This is not a facility to get help. The owner has raped three women, uses their poor mental state to take advantage of them, and uses you for the insurance money. They said I was here on the good grace of a rent scholarship while they made 70,000$ in one month off of me. All they did was give us one hour of "counseling" with a counselor who didn't even like or respect us and a measly public AA meeting at night. For 70grand.
