First I'll say that I never camped at this site, and the reason is why I cancelled my reservation. When I called their site to make my reservation the first time, and every time after that I had to leave a voice message. After the second voicemail I received a call a day later but don't remember her name. I gave her the details of our reservation. I had a funny feeling while talking with the person because she sounded like she was trying to be friendly but the way she talked was more of a defensive manner because I had told her that I had left a previous voicemail on a Friday which quickly said "Well I was off on Friday, and I don't have email" I thought it was me so I just let it go. My first red flag came After taking my reservation and form of payment I asked her "Will you be emailing me a confirmation and a receipt to which she quickly snapped "We don't do email" even though they have a link on their website to join their mailing list by entering your email address. I made these about a month before our trip and didn't think much about it until a couple of weeks before when I call them again to get our site number and check-in and check-out times. My first call was on Thursday the 2nd where again I had to leave a voicemail because they don't open before 11AM thinking she would get it that morning I would get a call back. Didn't hear anything from her all day Thursday, or All Day Friday. 2nd Red Flag. Then I left a message on Saturday the 4th thinking she would get it on Monday and would call me back. So on Monday I waited till 10 min before closing and called again because by then I had decided that I didn't want to work with a business who is un-responsive, especially on important issues like knowing when I could arrive and any other rules we would need to know. They had their cancellation policy posted on their website that you had to cancel no later than 24 hour before your reservation so we had decided to just cancel and find another RV Park. To my surprise she answered the phone and I told her my name, and told her I wanted to cancel my reservation. Again in her true nature, she didn't ask why, and didn't seem to care, and just snapped "Do you have your card number", to which I said yes and she told me to give to her which I did and she just said thank you and hung up. The cancellation notice was provide on Monday the 6th, and here I am 10 days later with no refund. I have disputed the charges with my bank and will not let this NARCISSIST keep my money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS, THE WOMAN THAT I TALKED TO HAD TO BE SOME KIND OF NARCISSIST. She is very passive aggressive and should not be talking to any customers read more

Stayed overnight 6-22. Good news it's right off IH40. Bad news it's right of IH40. Road noise is consistently loud. Truckers making the haul. The sewer pipe at our spot was 6 inches diameter. it would not accept our slinky. the pipe backed up, normal RV slinky w "donut" still doesn't work. Never saw a 6" opening w a pvc cap. No threads. Maintenance was accommodating with a ladder we needed. Office not open till 11:00 ?? read more

Joyce at check in was very friendly, and our site was right on the water. That's were the positive feedback ends. The road noise from the interstate was terrible! The only walking trail was literally a dump. See pictures. I won't even begin to tell you how bad the bathhouse was. The "remodeled" bathhouse had brown water coming from the sink. See picture. The pool was nice but had very limited hours and no bathroom. The wooden steps that lead to the bathhouse are dangerous! Rotted and the handrail at the bottom is barely attached. Someone is going to get hurt on those! There was one dumpster that was a hike to get to. We made the best of our weekend but we will not be returning to Soaring Eagle. read more

We stayed at Soaring Eagle 11/15/23 and arrived when the office was closed. We may not have stayed if we hadn't already paid on the phone. There is quite a bit of road noise. And there weren't fire rings at our site. We walked the campground and on the hill at one campsite we saw a lovely camp fire. We meandered back and met David the maintenance manager. We asked if we could join him to cook our hot dogs and make s'mores. David is terrific! He walked down to our site to show us the sewer drain connect. We had our lovely camp fire and David, Rambo, Kim, Randy and others were great company! We paid $44 for two people and $5 for an extra person before taxes. The campground is clean, the salt water pool was closed for the season, the water level was low and sites by water closed for the season. The restrooms were large and clean. Nice laundry facility, propane for sale on site but only when office is open. The people we met who live here are the salt of the earth! David thank you for saving the evening! read more

We had a great time tent camping at Soaring Eagle over Memorial Day weekend. We are tent campers and I am glad that I didn't let the online reviews of the RV campers disway me because the campground is great for tent camping. We reserved two sites closest to the lake and had a wonderful time. The tent camping sites are set apart from the RV sites so if you are looking for a great outdoors feel, this is it! We rented a canoe and had a great time on the lake and it seemed like a great fishing spot for those who love to fish. We did use the pool one afternoon and it was nice to have a saltwater pool rather than chlorinated. This is literally right off of I40 and you will hear traffic noises, so if you are a light sleeper you may want to bring earplugs for sleeping, we always travel with earplugs so it wasn't a big deal for us. The only thing that I was kind of inconvenient was the fact that the bathrooms were further away so if you have kids you need to drive up to use the bathrooms but honestly, it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. Besides, there are two sets of bathrooms and since most everyone else is in an RV the bathrooms were never busy and one of them had been renovated and was very nice. read more

Perfectly fine for an overnight stay. There's highway noise but our ACs drowned it out. We were in a 50 amp full-hookup pull-through near the front. Easy in and out. Open to the sky. Off leash dog park and lots of areas to walk the dogs. WiFi is free for the 1st 6 hours but they didn't give me a code at check-in. Lots of long term and permanent residents. Adult beverages are sold in the camp store. There's a nice lake and boat dock. Our site was level with utilities conveniently placed. Pull-throughs are really narrow but long. We had no immediate neighbors but if we had, we wouldn't be able to put our awning out. For an overnight stop, I'm OK with that. Would stop here again. read more

The campground was clean, trash cans at every site, and If you're just stopping for the night to sleep, then it's perfect. However, we went for our family Spring Break and this is not a family campground. 95% of the campground is permanents. We were the only family actually camping. It's right next to the interstate, so all you hear is road noise and tractor trailers blowing tires. We were in a pull through site at the front and fires aren't allowed. When I asked the office why we weren't told fires weren't allowed, she said "nobody asked when you booked". Who asks if fires are allowed at a campsite?!? The lake was almost completely dried up, so our son couldn't fish...which is what he looks forward to all year! I just wish we would have been told or warned on some of these things. So, if your planning on staying here for anything other than a one night sleep stop, don't do it...go somewhere else! read more

This camping spot is simply the best. Starting from the most wonderful lady at the front desk, lean showers and bathrooms, a pool and other recreational activities. Our tent sight was right on the lake with plenty of tree cover. 15/10. Check it out! read more

This was really one of the worst places my husband and I have ever stayed in nearly 30 years of camping. The ? owner/ office manager was surly and rude when we wanted to cancel the rest of our reservation (3 nights) after spending a sleepless night in our site literally right next to I-40. She informed us that there is a 48 hour cancellation policy, which is NOT STATED on either the website nor did she say anything about this when she made reservations. She ignored our calls to find out about a refund, and when we finally got through on a different phone, stated that they had this policy. Restrooms are housed in an old trailer, the "lake" was a muddy pond full of debris. The one thing she did make sure to do was to immediately put the full charge for 4 nights through on our charge card. We are retired, and my husband is disabled, and we live on a limited budget, so this whole experience was really awful. I recommend staying far away from this place ! read more

First the positive, the front desk staff was very friendly at check in and over the phone when we called late (5:30) to see if they could accommodate us. Now for the negatives, we got there and the tv cable connectors were broken off and when we called shortly after the office closed we left a message about it and one returned our call. The WiFi was complicated and we never got signed on. The RV slot was very small in width and length and our uncourtious neighbor parked next to their RV and left us little room to get out at 5:30 am. We had to move our picnic table to get enough room to swing out our 32 ft RV with tow. Considering the back up of traffic and rain were in, we were grateful there was a place for is to stay. We stayed at Soaring Eagle for 6 weeks in the summer of 2018 while we purchased a home. Nice location and very convenient to I40. The lake side spots don't have sewer hookups, but the dump station is easy to access. Nice views, some highway noise, but not terrible. The main bathroom by the office is nice and always clean. Big tiled showers with plenty of hot water. Bathroom is always open. Good laundry facilities and reasonably priced. The gates are left open in the summer so you can come and go anytime. The campground staff 'patrols' throughout the day and evenings to make sure everything is alright. Our neighbors are all pretty quiet and considerate. Spots are pretty level and even the few back in spots have good access and plenty of room to maneuver. Big rig friendly. read more

We stayed at this location once last year and were going to stay with them again this year but had to change our plans. This review covers both. This paragraph is a review of the park. In regard to our stay, the sites on the lake are nice. They are level and have easy connections. Considering the close proximity to the highway, you get the feel of nature without having to be in the middle of nowhere. Regardless of where you are in the park, you will still be able to hear highway noise but its a small price to pay for convenience and the natural element. Minor hiccup - some of the residents were not very welcoming toward guests (ie BBQ confusion coupled with a resident who has had multiple beers equals a not very nice encounter). Resolution: management should identify which BBQ is for public use or residents should identify private use only. In regard to our cancelled stay, we made a reservation six weeks prior to our arrival for our one night stay which was on a holiday weekend. We were advised the area we wanted was wide open and were able to select the site we wanted. The following day we realized we had to modify our route which took us nowhere near their location so we called them right away to cancel our stay. We were advised that there would probably be a penalty since it was a holiday weekend but she would have to check with the manager who was on vacation. I advised the clerk that we were not made aware of any cancellation policy (nor was there one noted on their website), that there were a lot of sites available when I phoned two days prior and that I was calling six weeks prior to the holiday weekend which I was sure our reservation had not caused them to lose any business. She advised that someone would get back to me. After three weeks and no phone call or credit to our card which was charged upon making the reservation, we disputed it with our cc company. Advisory - verify cancellation policy upon making your reservation to avoid a similar situation. Two stars is for the lack of defined policy, failure to return communication and/or follow through with a customer who has an issue. read more

Deeply disappointed. Right on highway. Sites about 10 yards apart. Bathrooms very basic - shower curtains from Dollar Store, hit and cold water taps reversed. Wifi not working. Electric hookup not working when we arrived. Extension cords for hookups literally run across the very little grass there is. No fire pits or grills. No privacy. All of this and - gulp - $42.00 + tax for one night! Stay away. Pizza guy wouldn't even deliver here. read more
