Signature Orthopedics South is the best. I have been going to Dr. Zippay for a long time and if…read moreyou want the best she is the best doctor to have for your medical needs. I would not have any other doctor do injections as she is the best. She listens to you and and answers any questions you might have. Larry

First the positive. This location is very good. Nice staff, centrally located, all in one facility…read more Now the negative. The wait time and how it is dealt with. My 1st visit, upon arrival, I was told the wait time for this particular doctor might be long. Not a positive sign to start with. During that 1st visit I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time in the outer waiting room and then an additional 10 minutes in the inner before seeing the doctor. X- rays taken, given medication prescription, told to return in a month. Not too bad an experience. 2nd visit, I waited 1 hour past my appointment time in the outer room and an additional 20 minutes in the inner with no explanation or concern of why. I consider this not only unprofessional, but disrespectful. If I had arrived 1 1/2 hours late to my appt. I would be turned away. My total time with the doctor? 10 minutes. Given shot, told to return in a month. I asked one of the staff members when leaving if the wait was always this long, I was told yes, the doctor takes a long time with each patient. I don't know about the other patients, but 10 minutes with myself is not what I consider a long time. It is unknown to me if all the physicians at this location have the same wait time, but this was my experience with Dr. Fissell. Perhaps it is the scheduling that needs to be addressed, I don't know and since I am not employed there it is not my responsibility. What is my responsibility is how I allow others to treat me as an individual. In order to trust and compensate someone to care for you some level of value must be expected. With all the positive advantages this location has it is not one I can recommend due to the insensitive consideration of my time and how it was dealt with. It's ashamed because I thought this establishment was what I needed for an ongoing issue.

I was given a number through St. John's Mercy to ask for charity. It turns out the topical ointment that he prescribed again is not covered by Medicare and so when I called his office to explain that I had a follow up in four weeks and was unable to start any of the treatments that he recommended I was told by his assistant nurse Jennifer that he would be unable to offer alternative treatments so unless I came out of pocket for said treatments I could go ahead and cancel my follow up. Now I'm a realistic person and I'm sure there's other medication that can be prescribed instead of the latter and for Christ's sake if you are an "orthopedic Surgeon " maybe you have some printouts with leg exercises that you can give to patients to take home! Horrible bed side manor, I thought these guys took an oath to help all sick people.... not just the rich ones that they can juice their insurance companies for bullshit treatments and for sure not have to wait 3+ months to get paid by Medicaid/ health net! If you want a caring dr with a thoughtful staff then get another Mercy Dr... this one doesn't deserve to have Mercy printed on his card!
