It was major and I should have gone straight to TMJ therapy following, but no one told me and I didn't even know TMJ therapy was a thing. I spent 20+ year adjusting to this new bite after major trauma on my own. I was a hard night-clencher and didn't even know it. How I got as far as I did without anyone noticing the damage from clenching is beyond me, but here we are. The exam felt wildly thorough and I could clearly see the physical reactions which gave the info he needed. It was fascinating. He called out every feeling and symptom I must get and I'd never felt more seen. I spoke to one of his assistants and again no return call. I finally sent a fax letting this Dr know of the terrible experience and to no longer consider me his patient. I was provided a healing space with attention to my personal care, this was my first time in the hyperbaric chamber. I was guided and directed by the staff in such a loving and caring concerned matter. I never felt alone, and after my first session, I was so ready to go back in for more. I live an hour and a half from Dr. Cohen, and while there were other more convenient options, I chose Dr. Cohen based on my research. I am glad I did. He is a true professional, and his staff are great. He helped me understand the procedure, the recovery process, and the cost. My only regret is that I waited so long. Regarding the process itself, it was quick and easy. After showing up at the surgical center, we completed the intake process and were done in about four hours. The recovery was rough for a couple of days, but improvement was steady. Regarding getting back to work, it depends on what you do. If you type in a cubicle all day, maybe by day three or four you will be back at it. If you are doing anything physical that involves exertion it will take two weeks. As they will tell you, it pays to be patient. Three or four weeks later when the full benefits are realized you will feel like a new person.
