The first time I came to the birth center for a meet and greet type of appointment when searching for a midwife was like a breath of fresh air! All the staff were extremely nice, caring and helpful. The birth center is beautiful, and I was amazed with Darlene and Molly. They actually looked me in the eye when I talked (unlike my former OB that just stared at my chart)! They were extremely knowledgable and caring. I never feel rushed, and always feel like my care is a priority to them. My birth was an incredible experience and I went on to have another baby there in the same room two years later with Darlene and Bri. I loved the family environment and the ladies at the front desk are a hoot!

I am from California and All of my female friends gave birth at hospitals. My sister gave birth to a boy here and has been going there for check ups now. EVERYONE working here has been helpful before the birth; answer all my and my sisters question about baby, labor, preparation to welcome baby, etc During the labor; we got there around midnight. We called them and they were there ready. Professional nurse? With a lot of experience watch and log everything during the labor and the other one helped my sister gave a birth more easily ( constantly rubbing .. Checking.. Encouraging my sister) and after the birth of my nephew( answer all stupid questions(^^) we asked and give personal attention to the mommy and the baby. Absolutely recommend this place and I will definitely give birth to my baby if I live in seattle.( or look for midwives in California if there is any) What I realized from the whole experience of coming here and watching my sister give birth is that I don't need to go to a hospital to give birth. Trying to get the baby out naturally and getting healed( my sister) naturally are totally Possible!! Prices are reasonable and feeling of being cared and informed....We've got what we need:)highly highly recommend!!

Through every step, I felt like I was respected, listened to, in control, and completely cared for. They are reassuring and kind, and never made me feel like I was overreacting when I was freaking out (which, by the way, I totally was, ha). They also treated my partner like he was important and listened to his questions/concerns as well, instead of just directing to me all the time, which I know meant a lot to him. My birth was an absolutely amazing experience, and so much of that is because I had midwives who were 100% on board with my birth plan, and who let me birth without dictating every detail of how it would go. They made sure baby and I were safe and gave suggestions and encouragement when they needed to. I was able to choose what positions to labor/push in which was so great. They were such a calming presence and we felt so reassured by their warmth and competence. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a wild journey. These are the midwives you want by your side for one of the most raw, life-changing, vulnerable, amazing experiences of your life. They have all the compassion in the world, and are also generally phenomenal and badass humans. I LOVE Y'ALL AND I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU. Love, Alexis, Steven and Baby Anna

I would recommend Gabi and her care to everyone.

We are a happy family of 4 now in large thanks to her. Her clinic space is warm and welcoming, as is the staff. I always feel at ease there, like going to see friends. Dr Hurd always gives you her undivided attention during appointments, and I've never once felt rushed. Its also nice to not be passed around between nurses, having to explain things over and over. Dr. Hurd makes her patients feel comfortable, supported, and listened to. I actually enjoy going to the doctor because we get to see her! I have felt so listened to, supported and I love that they will help you make a more holistic choice first but if more interventions are indicated I really trusted them. This was my first unmedicated birth my labor was SO much faster this time I think in large part because I actually felt safe and they did a good job helping keep the environment calm. Within 20 min of giving birth I was already telling my husband I would happily do that again haha . The main thing I appreciate about them is that I TRUSTED them. I knew if they suggested an intervention that it was indicated because they trust the human body to know what it's doing. BUT they also don't have their head in the clouds that nothing ever goes wrong. Just could not recommend them more! A truly wonderful experience!!

I will always recommend out of hospital/midwife care, especially Sprout Birthing Center. Prenatal care: On point all around. All the traditional tests were offered to me to ensure there weren't any apparent complications that would make my pregnancy or birth high-risk. Birth: At the center. Arrived a little after 9pm to help move the pregnancy along (11 days overdue!). After hours birth meant my immediate family was able roam the center without interfering with day-to-day operations. My son was born at 11:01pm. Mayya and Brittni didn't rush me and didn't argue me when I said it was time to push. They let me control the birth. Their roles were simply to make sure we were healthy. After having a hospital birth with my second son, I can't rave enough about how much its truly means to drive your own birth. I was free to leave around 2 or 2:30am. 5 hours at the center and in home in bed to rest and heal! Can't complain about that! Postpartum Care: Thorough. Never once did I feel I wasn't being listened to. Billing: No issues as of yet ‍. I'll update if needed.

Instead of providing a prescription covered by my insurance, I was only given a list of medications to buy. Because I was very sick, I had to go to Walgreens and spend over $100 on medications that I could have received for free with a prescription. Later, I tested positive for COVID-19 and informed your team. The only response I received was "I'm sorry you have COVID, stay in quarantine for 5 days." At no point was I informed that COVID could lead to early labor. The day before delivery, when I entered active labor, I called again. My information was sent to Providence Everett, but I received no encouragement or support from any of the midwives. Ultimately, I had to undergo an emergency C-section because my baby's heart rate was unstable, and my newborn was transferred to Seattle Children's Hospital due to meconium aspiration. I did not hear from Sprouts until four days after my baby's birth, and the call was simply to say, "I'm sorry you went through that, let us know when you want to schedule your postpartum appointment." When I scheduled and came to my appointment, I felt dismissed and disrespected. At the front desk, I was asked "where's the baby" in an ironic tone, followed by "oh, I forgot, she's at the NICU." In my visit with Deborah, my concerns about missed communication and risks associated with my prolonged pregnancy were rejected instead of acknowledged with empathy. Despite my disappointment, I continued with follow-up appointments for postpartum care and birth control because I had no other provider at that time. However, I have consistently felt unsupported. Most recently, when I asked for an all-purpose nipple ointment (as recommended by the lactation team and nurses at Seattle Children's Hospital), I received a dismissive and questioning response instead of the prescription I needed. At this point, I believe the care I received from Sprouts Birth Center has fallen short of the support, compassion, and professionalism that should have been provided. For these reasons, I respectfully do not recommend this birth center at all.

I was on the outside looking in, as I was part of the "care team" for a patient who was admitted for child birth. Child birth can be the most amazing experience...this one was traumatizing. I can only imagine how the patient felt if I found the whole experience unfavorable.... I stood by and observed the patient be treated like a "number' or like a science project rather than a human. Staff came in and out, checking the necessary boxes, poking and prodding the patient with relatively little communication about what was happening or what to expect. Post birth, the patient had a medical emergency which led to the patient being transported by ambulance to ICU. Pre transport, the room was nothing but chaos. Again, no communication as to why or what to expect or with regard for separation from the newborn baby. Everyone talking at the same time and nobody taking action during this emergency. While in the ICU again , lack of communication on why or what to expect. Three separate blood panels taken, nobody said why. Nobody provided any results. There was no communication with a doctor with the exception of a brief check in. Fast forward as there are so many details to speak to....admitted on Wednesday, discharged on Sunday (with encouragement to stay another 24 hours for observation, meaning stay until Monday). No explanation was provided as to why the recommended stay. No explanation was provided as to the possible reasons for the medical emergency that took the patient to the ICU. No explanation..... The patient, the new, first time mama, was left reeling from the experience, as was the "care team". Bedside manner was lacking, patient care was lacking, communication was lacking, leadership was lacking, continuity of care was lacking. I rated the experience one star only because we brought home a health baby.

I had a successful VBAC thanks to Melinda and Milla of "Calm & Confident Doula Care!"…read moreInitially, I was ambivalent about a VBAC. To feel comfortable taking the leap, I wanted a doula who would be more than a cheerleader: someone who could provide physiological knowledge and support to keep my labor going smoothly, and preferably someone who had lots of successful experience with VBACs.Milla and Melinda were exactly who I was looking for. I loved the workshop on physical prep for birth that Melinda taught (and created, I believe) as part of their package, their nonjudgmental approach to my preferences (yes epidural), and the fact that they made sure we met them both, so either one could attend our birth. I had to go into the hospital very early in labor. Milla attended our birth, and helped us navigate when the hospital offered us various interventions. Her TENS unit made my back labor bearable. My baby was at risk of coming out "sunny side up" because she was ROA, and Milla suggested positions that would create space in my pelvis (with the epidural in!) and successfully turned my baby around to LOA for a smooth delivery. I was able to deliver my 8 lb baby after only 48 minutes of pushing! Melinda did our postpartum visit at that low point in early breastfeeding where my milk hadn't really come in yet and the baby was a worrying combination of thirsty and sleepy. We were so grateful to have an experienced eye on our baby for reassurance and to give us some much-needed pointers -- because of course, our second baby is completely different from our first. Two more things, in case you weren't sold already: first, we found it very easy to build a rapport with both Milla and Melinda, and loved spending time with them; and second, I have mild cerebral palsy, which they easily took in stride, and were happy to adapt techniques as necessary.Don't wait -- get on their calendars!!

Their package is outstanding compared to others. Milla was with us for delivery and she was such a calming, supportive presence. She reminded me of my birth plan when I needed it, worked beautifully with the hospital staff, held me through contractions, cheered me on when I felt like giving up, and set boundaries with family when I asked. She just knew what I needed and I felt safe with her. Melinda was equally fantastic. I felt deeply seen by her. She helped me with my anxiety before labor and in postpartum, gave me practical tools (the ice exercise was a game changer), and walked through our house helping us set up baby stations + shared so many helpful tips. Some additional highlights: - Their website has the best list of questions to ask when interviewing doulas. - The prep class with Milla was both super helpful and honestly fun. I truly believe the exercises she taught me made a huge difference in my labor. - Melinda dropping everything to come help us on day 3 postpartum when we texted her in frenzy. Hiring them was hands-down the best decision we made. I'm so happy with how my labor went, and I honestly credit that to this amazing doula team. Overall, the biggest impact they made on me was that they believed in me, and that gave me so much strength. For a first-time mom with higher levels of anxiety, that kind of support was priceless. I honestly wish they could be my team of support forever in motherhood--that's how much I loved them and how much I trust them. And even now, I still bug them from time to time and they always quickly help me out with resources. I am so fortunate to have found them. I am sure you will feel the same way if they become your choice of doulas.
