This is an excellent studio for restoration of various kinds. Recently I took 2 items of great family sentimental value, an 80 year old delicate porcelain figurine and 100 year old wood frame that had broken. Guy Davis explained what approach he would take in restoring, and answered my questions. The results were excellent!! Then I took in a sculpture that was very damaged 30 years ago. I did not think it was reparable. Guy worked on this piece in stages and was able to repair it so that no evidence exists it was ever damaged. I've used this studio twice to restore artwork. Both times I worked with Guy Davis, who was very helpful and knowledgeable about his craft. The first artwork I brought them was a huge oil canvas that I rescued from my Dad's garage. The canvas had been folded, driven over, and exposed to Chicago elements for years. When I first saw it, I thought it was hopeless. But Mr. Davis did a wonderful job restoring it. You can still tell the art has seen some hard times, but it adds interest to it's story. More recently, I brought in a piece of art I purchased as a gift to my husband. It was in good shape, but dirty. Mr. Davis did a great job cleaning it and helped me select a beautiful frame. It's now the centerpiece of our living room, and we're very happy with it. I highly recommend Snodgrass and Davis for art restoration and framing. I found this site in early November and was impressed by the results that were shown. I had 3 photos that needed restoration for a Christmas gift. Two of the photos came out great, the third one was just awful. If I had known how poor the third one was going to come out I would never have attempted this as a gift. By the time I saw the results it was too close to Christmas to take them elsewhere. I paid the full price but was unhappy and disappointed with the results. read more
