I was really lucky to go in to the historical society today because they are only open one day a…read moreweek and that was today Thursday. I met with a really nice woman who is originally from Chicago that settled here many years ago. She took me all through the little wooden cottage and told me the history of the home. It seems that a slave bought his freedom in the 1700s and built a home for his daughter at 1 time there were stairs and led to the 2nd floor attic which is pretty huge and I really wouldn't consider in an addict it seemed more like a loft to me and had 2 rooms. The stairs had been replaced so that you can walk up there and that's where I saw something that looked like a noose anging from the rafters. And soon as I entered the home I felt chills and Goosebumps all over my body. It was in a scary feeling or a bad feeling it was just a cold feeling or a chill. I got to see an old shoe from the 1700s and never realized that they made shoes not like they do today left and right foot but just general shoes for each foot which was interesting I really loved the little house it had its own charm. I would like to live in that house. The historical societie of damned and was easy to find and I really enjoyed meeting with the woman who was the curator I called her miss Shaw but her last name was not sure it was similar to that but that wasn't her last name. I bought a book that shows all of the historical sites in the town of Camden and I plan on seeing the majority of them tomorrow in the day time in my spare time. I am enjoying this little town so much I really hate when my time here ends and I have to go back home I'm going to miss this town terribly and the kindness and generosity of everyone I have met over the past 2 weeks Here.

The installation is by local artist Blue Sky (aka Warren Edward Johnson) who is also responsible for the nearby works "Tunnelvision" and "Busted Plug Plaza". Maybe they're fake? Nope, these are actual steel chain links that were welded together and hand about 15 feet over this small alleyway. Great place to have lunch on the lawn. Outside has some historical statues as well. I attended the Peace Walk in Columbia SC at the state house. A group of 19 monks from the Huong Dao Temple walked over 2,300 miles from Ft Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C. Aloka (whose name means "divine light" in Sanskrit) accompanied them every step of the way. He did have surgery for his leg during the journey. It was a beautiful day to be in SC! Thankful to witness such a great community event.

On the day we visited, we missed the video, but were quickly welcomed to the complimentary tour. The tour guide gave a wonderful overview of the history of the State House along with South Carolina politics, and brought it to current day activities. The State House is on beautiful grounds, and it's right at the intersection where Main Street begins. After the tour, the guy gave us opportunity to take all the photos we wanted, and there's a lot to see.

The greenway in runs right to the ritzy waterfront area, but there several miles of it. It is…read morepaved, and while on occasions it passes sports facilities or people's backyards, it is generally quite green. It is usually well-attended and I have not had any safety concerns; it certainly feels better than comparable areas on the other side of the river. There are plenty of bikers, but the trail is generally wide enough not to present any major issues of overcrowding. It's definitely a good way to get a taste of the environment without driving too far from the city.

But we enjoyed our walk so much that we ended up walking almost 5 miles! Every quarter mile there is a marker letting you know how far you've walked. When it's dark they have plenty of lights along the Greenway. We also saw security throughout our walk and emergency phones. Pets were properly leashed on our week which made me happy since i'm not the biggest fan. It was also so adorable to see kids on the greenway with their bikes as their parents walked alongside them. You can see plenty of people out enjoying themselves doing different activities such as fishing. I can't wait to return to Columbia and walk this greenway again!

Six miles and 250 years earlier, we drove into a hauntingly beautiful open grove of ruins did we go! Park off the street easily. Off street parking with no sidewalks or crossings, then you'll walk into history. Burned once by the British in 1777, rebuilt, then burned one more, and final time by Sherman's mary in the civil war, as he rained terror on these rural folk, returning from conquering Savannah in the final years of the civil war. Some people remain behind in the graveyard, so please be respectful during your time here. It's silence and magistry will stay with you. The old water pump still delivers cold, sweet spring water, so have some before you go. Bring a cup (no waste cans!), or go old school and use your hand. The sadness comes from knowing that these bricks were made by slaves...

My wife and I visited here on an anniversary trip from a recommendation of a friend. It's about 50…read moremiles from Charleston SC but was well worth the drive. We were the only ones there. It's a historic site known as Prince William's Parish Church. Built between 1745 and 1753 in the English Georgian style with Roman Tuscan or Doric elements, it served as a chapel of ease for the parish. The church has a dramatic history, traditionally believed to have been burned twice: first by the British in 1779 during the Revolutionary War and again in 1865 by General Sherman's forces during the Civil War, leaving only its massive brick walls. However, a 1866 letter by Milton Leverett suggests the church was not burned in 1865 but instead gutted for materials to rebuild homes destroyed by Sherman's army, challenging the traditional narrative. I'd highly recommend a trip here if you are in the area and like things like this.

Born in what is now Jasper County, SC and educated at home, he traveled to England to study law where he was a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. Elected to the Continental Congress in 1775 and the following year signed the Declaration of Independence.
