Our group had a blast picking out our tree here! We grabbed some cider and made our way up the hill to cut down a six foot Colorado blue spruce. The service here was quick and the people were friendly. Highly recommend!

We've been coming here for years to cut down our tree and it never disappoints! There was a bit of a wait to get in - but that's to be expected on the weekend after Thanksgiving. The staff were extremely helpful, efficient, and friendly. We love coming here to pick our tree & take our yearly pics with Lucy the truck. It's a beautiful place with amazing views and perfect trees.

First trip to Snickers Gap Xmas farm. We truly enjoyed the experience. We went at 12pm on a Friday. It was a decent crowd at the time but lots of parking was available. We picked up our saw, rope, and bamboo stick. We found our tree within 30 minutes. The staff were friendly. We will definitely be return customers.

Tradition is what it is and for us there are two mainstays - (1) Fresh Tree we cut down and (2) Santa always brings new jammies on Christmas Eve. Growing up we weren't always able to go to a tree farm and shopped our "fresh cut" tree at the local Fire Department lot. We have been loyal fans of Snickers Gap for over 5 years....and yes, they are pricey, but I can count on one hand how many needles fell from this tree after we put it up 3 weeks before Christmas! They have the usual varieties, Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, White Pine...and they are all healthy. The owners of this tree farm groom the acres of trees well, so you aren't met with a bunch of weeds and tall grass when you are on the hunt. Its really a family environment...the kids running wild, some families bring their dogs (all decked out in their winter finery, and the fun assortment of Santa hats - some this year actually sang - are entertaining. Its busy, the lines can be long, and it can be COLD on the mountain...but the experience is wonderful. They do have cider and peanuts offered in the area near the tree wrapping station and there are typically local high school students offering their services and even selling candy during the day too. We take pics every year, and you can go to the Snickers Gap Tree Farm website and create your own album to post them publicly - http://www.snickersgaptrees.com. 328 days till Christmas 2009.....so mapquest Snickers and make your plans for a fresh self-cut tree as part of your holidays, you won't regret it!

Look closely and you will see the "funnel" for watering the tree and around it, all the needles have fallen off the branches.

Lots of trees to cut the day after Thanksgiving. We have always (for 26 years) had a real tree. We'd never had any problems at all with needle retention because we invested in a good, deep tree stand and I'm kind of over-invested in watering (one year we had a tree grow a root, and I've been trying to get it to do it again). Last year, we had a problem with a Frasier fir that was the first season for growing at another farm. Same issue: Our tree is turning brown and the needles are all falling. Not near sunlight, not near a heat register. Lots of water...(stand holds about 5" of water and I fill it if it is down 1/2 an inch--like I said, I'm kind of over-invested.) Heat set at 68 during the day and 65 at night. White LED lights. Check, check, check and still completely dying. 13 days old. I read on line that you can mist the tree, so for the first time ever, for the last 4 days, I've been misting it (ornaments and all) at least twice a day. No help. This tree farm's website has no information about which trees to select, and offers Colorado Blue Spruce and Douglas firs, which we chose. Middleburg Tree Farm has a caution on their website: don't cut a Douglas fir until at least December 1, because they don't retain their needles as long. Stay with the blue spruce if cutting early. I wish this farm offered the same advice, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that less than 14 days is short for any fresh-cut tree. This tree was $110 because it was 7 ft. That's about $9 a day at this point, and the tree is now a fire hazard. Although it may not be a diseased tree, and this could just be "coincidence", I also was disappointed that there wasn't a nice snack shop or shop for additional greenery, wreaths, ornaments, etc. We were spoiled by The Farmer's Daughter in Auburn, MA, where there was more than just Christmas trees...it was an entire experience. We will be headed back to GREENWORKS NURSERY for our replacement tree again. And our search will begin there next year. I'm starting to believe that, although we try to support local businesses, the tree biz in VA doesn't raise as hardy of trees as are imported. That's the other reason for 2 stars.

Love supporting a local farming family. Not only are the trees fresh and the location idyllic, I get the extra warm feeling that 100% of my money goes directly to support someone who is caring for the land.

Incredible experience and so many trees to pick from. Staff were lovely and we felt very safe. Highly recommend this amazing experience. Best tree we've ever gotten!

2019 Season not worth going…read more My family and I have come here a few times over the years and a couple years ago had good experiences. In 2018 we tried to come in December ~6-10ish, and found the farm closed as they'd sold out of available trees. We chalked it up to our being a bit later in the season. This year we're here Saturday after Thanksgiving and the place is barren and the majority of trees near the shed are gone. The prices have gone up again too. Apparently last year they were $85 for up to 6' (and $10/ft over 6 foot) and this year they're $95. A couple of years ago they were $75 and the trees weren't this ratty looking. We enjoyed the scenic drive and got a good walk out of it, but we'll be hitting up a tree lot on the way home where we can get nicer trees for less. If you want some outdoorsing, this isn't a bad option, but for a tree I would go elsewhere. Edit to add: I can appreciate based on the owner's response to my comment that the tree farm has had issues with disease decimating their stock, and that is unfortunate, but my husband called the farm before we headed out there to ask what the supply was like, and this was not mentioned at all by the lady answering the phone.

We arrived at 9:30a the day after Thanksgiving and I was surprised how little inventory they had. They give you a map and let you have at it. I was a little surprised that there was no one walking/driving the fields for customers. We found a tree and cut it down no problem. Hauled it to the front using one of the carts that they provide. They are pretty strict on charging for exact footage of the tree you pick. Which turned me off a bit. You're really going to charge me $10 extra dollars because my tree is a few inches over 6ft? I guess I should've just cut more off the bottom.. When you check out they had water coolers and a tin can of cookies. No music, no hot chocolate, etc. The service was rough. They carried the tree to the car and put it on top of the car, the tree rolled off immediately. No help tying it down or anything. Was really surprised. Even at Lowe's they help you tie down your Christmas tree! I'm not saying this place is the worst, but I was very surprised by the amazing reviews...until I found on their website that they offer $5 off if you write a Yelp review. Hmm. No wonder they've got such strong reviews...

We were greeted nicely and the gentleman was very informative about their offerings. Unfortunately, there was not much there to be found. Not only were the offerings slim, we saw no new saplings in the process of growing, meaning that in addition to not having much this year, they're unlikely to have any in the coming years either. If we had found one, the prices would have been fairly reasonable (flat rate for each tree type: $50 for scotch pine, $60 for norway spruce, and $70 for blue spruce). Shame we didn't come across any. It was a fairly small field, so at least it didn't take us long to realize we needed to go elsewhere. The gentleman who had helped us earlier was kind enough to show us a map of local tree-cutting farms (apparently they band together for mutual benefit, good for them), and we used that to find our final tree-cutting destination (Country Loving Tree Farm). Still, we came a long way to get here and left empty-handed. Also worth noting that they have no bathrooms. Be forewarned. Overall: 2.0 stars ---------- Pros: - Exceptionally friendly staff (helped us find out final tree-cutting destination). - Good prices on the trees they do have. Cons: - Selection is sparse and field is small. - Long distance to come to leave empty-handed. - No bathrooms, hope you went before you came.

I always had real Christmas trees growing up, but I had never bought one as an adult. Nevertheless, Almost Heavenly Trees & Greenery made the process way easier than I could have expected, and for the first time, like ever in my life, we left the tree lot with the first tree we looked at. This is a fantastic 'mom and pop' tree farm operation and the young man, forgive me that I have forgotten his name, was super fantastic! He spent 20 minutes with us making sure we had the exact tree we wanted, and even helped up strap it to the roof of our car for the trip home. I feel really bad that I've forgotten his name because he was so personable. Not once did I feel like he was rushing us even though the lot was busy. And the trees are spectacular. It didn't look like much when we arrived because it is just trees in a lot, but they are quite fresh. The trees (douglas firs) from the family farm in WV were cut about a week before being sold. We ended up with a frasier fir (personal favorite) which came from a farm in NC but we were told they were about as fresh but they just couldn't confirm the day they had actually been cut. The prices were very reasonable, especially for being a local business and not a 'big box' store. We were just so impressed and are so very happy with our lovely tree that we are definitely life-long customers as long as we are within reasonable driving distance! It didn't feel secure and I called to get some advice and spoke with Matt who explained it was likely our tree stand (which it was) and offered to have someone come to our home to install our tree in a new tree stand the following day. As promised, Sam came with the new tree stand and put our tree in it the following day. They went above and beyond and followed through on everything they said they would. We will continue to get our trees from almost heavenly for as long as we live in this area and I have already told many people about this company so you should be expecting some new customers! Thank you!
