This Boat Rental here offers a nice range of boats in different classes. There are sailboats and motorboats in different sizes and price ranges. And you will need a licence for most of them.
But now some good news in case you don't have a boat permit: There are three types of boats you can rent without it. First we have the "Pedalos". Holding 4-5 people....powered by your legs. It works like riding a bike, but a bit more strength necessary. Two can actually do the work (or one alone) and the others are passengers.
But since I'm not that much into physical work when it comes to boating I prefer to go for one of the other options. There are two kind of motorboats you can rent without permit. One type is called the "Yamarin", a smaller boat holding up to 5 people. Easy to drive and navigate and with sufficient speed. 60CHF an hour ... getting less the longer you rent it. A fun little boat and our favorite if you are just 2-3 persons. Then they offer the boat named "Pontoon" which holds up to 8 Persons. Costs 100CHF an hour. Seems steep, but if you are above 4 passengers, then it's not too bad. And it's a nice boat. Lots of space to sit, a ladder to go for a swim and a sunroof (which you could fold down as well). Engine is powerful enough to have some fun around the lake. It's more of a party boat I'd say.
Both motorboats are great options I think and reasonably priced. I like the smaller one, but might be a bit too shaky if you get seasick easy...and there's no sunroof, so bring some sunscreen. The bigger boat is great for a party on the water, have some food and a couple of beers, but it's less fun when it comes to driving.
On the pedalos there's a deposit (with full refund) of 20CHF. 100CHF deposit for the motorboats. Life vests are provided (but you don't necessarily have to wear them). And the two motorboats described above are also dog friendly! Bring your furry friend with (our Bulldog had a blast).
This is always the spot I go to when I want to rent a boat for a couple of hours. It's easy, it's conveniently located and the boats are in good condition. And you're allowed to drive - with the motorboats - almost on the whole lake (but it's a big lake, make sure you get back in time). Just be careful of the big passenger motor and steam vessels! You have to make way for them. They take reservations, but only if you rent a boat for a whole day. It can get busy here on sunny days. So you might have to wait for a boat to become available. read more
