The UPS Store

Whenever I come in everyone is friendly and efficient. Making a return for Amazon here has always been quick. The staff here always greets me when I come in. If I do ever need any of their services I will definitely not hesitate to drop in.

I had a disturbing experience at The UPS Store in Snellville, Georgia. I visited to return several…read moreitems and brought my own packing tape from home because some UPS locations charge for tape. After taping my items, I placed my tape in my purse. At checkout, the representative stated that she was charging me for the tape. I explained that it belonged to me, that I had brought it from home, and showed it to the staff. I then realized that a male employee had apparently told her I placed the tape in my purse, leading to the assumption that I was taking store merchandise. Although he apologized, I felt accused of stealing my own property. This was upsetting and should have been handled with a simple question about whether the tape belonged to me. I do not know whether the employee involved was the store owner. After this experience and reading the store's reviews, I will not be returning to this location. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of treating customers respectfully, and I will be sharing my experience with my customers and stakeholders. A word of advice to anyone visiting this store: If you bring your own tape or other packing supplies, let the staff know when you enter. This may help prevent a misunderstanding like the one I experienced. 1st RESPONSE TO OWNER --------response from my first post on the UPS store in Snellville Georgia Webb Gin store: I would like to clarify one important point in your response (Owner). Your staff did not ask whether the tape belonged to me or the store. The checkout representative stated that she was charging me for it. There is a clear difference between asking a question and assuming ownership. Your response acknowledges that the associate mistakenly assumed the tape was store merchandise. After I placed my own tape in my purse, that assumption led to an interaction that made me feel accused of stealing. A simple question--"Did you bring that tape with you?"--could have prevented this entire situation. That is the customer service I would have expected. I acknowledge that an apology was given and no charge was assessed. However, that does not erase how I was treated. Describing the interaction as staff "simply asking" does not accurately reflect what happened. I have also noticed that the store owner consistently responds to reviews without taking responsibility for his own actions or those of his associates. That says a great deal about the owner and the way the store handles customer concerns. I will not visit this store again, and I encourage others to consider my experience before deciding whether to do so. 2nd RESPONSE-------- I have since learned that the man involved in this incident was the store owner, Tecumseh Peete--the same person who wrote the response to my Google review. Your response refers to an associate's mistake without acknowledging that you were that person. Knowing this makes the experience even more disappointing. As the owner, I would expect you to set the standard for respectful customer service and take responsibility for your own actions by accurately acknowledging what happened.
