A great representation of the Chilean classic, and the frank itself was very good flavor-wise. The french fries that came with our dishes were well seasoned and fried, but they weren't piping hot like they should have been - they definitely sat for a bit before they got to our table. Draft beers were great and they had plenty of condiments available for dressing up your fries or sandwich. The only other hiccup was the wait time - took a solid 45 mins or so to get our food, probably because we ordered from the regular menu and not the daily lunch menu. When my brother asked for a kid's menu, the waiter answered very sternly: "there is no menu for kids" We expected an alternative, but nothing. My brother asked him..."so, what do we do? Are there any accommodations for kids? kids My kids want to eat". The waiter left to the kitchen and came back saying that they could do a pasta and protein dish for the kids. Right away, the waiter's attitude was borderline rude, but we were too excited and happy to be there. We looked at the menu and we all ordered our starters and the kid's food. He never said..I am sorry about his, let me change it...nothing. He looked at me and told me...."And the magic word is....???" (expecting an answer) I couldn't respond and he said "POR FAVOR" (please in Spanish) with a very sarcastic tone of voice. We are native Spanish speakers....this was no misunderstanding. It was plain rudeness and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Everyone in our party was in complete SHOCK. I didn't know what to say or how to respond....We have been in all kinds of restaurants and understand that cultural differences and service levels vary from county to country...but this was unacceptable. My husband got up and went to the manager to explain what happened. The waiter left with my plate and never came back. The manager came and was very apologetic, he asked who the waiter was, they went to the kitchen to bring back the waiter and he never came back. After that horrible experience we left. No lunch. Terrible service and we were sooo hungry. I would never go back there again. This is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in that region. Cafe 100, named for its location in the Matucana 100 Cultural Center, just opened July 11th and is the reason you should get your butt out of your chair and head to Quinta Normal. The owners have taken the flavors and style that have made them famous for their food truck and have added gourmet coffee to the mix. They have switched it up a bit from their spicy tacos to gourmet sandwiches and mixed green salads - seriously yum! However, no need to worry, they have no plans to get rid of the tacos but will only be using the food truck for events and will be focusing 100 percent on the Cafe for now. All of their ingredients are fresh and local, making for delicious dishes with flavors that pop. What's best, is that they have just planted a vegetable garden in the same area, so they can start using their own vegetables in each dish! I recommend trying their delicious sandwich of grilled vegetables with red pepper paste, pesto and mayo between Pan Vitta whole wheat bread - yum! Accompany it with one of their drip coffees made with freshly ground Peruvian coffee (this is a place to take coffee snobs). I can only see Cafe 100 getting better as they get their kitchen fully put together and get settled in - I am excited to see what they will be bringing to Quinta Normal in the coming months! I was expecting the empanadas to be hollow but they were packed with ground beef and required fillings. I also ordered a pisco sour for digestive purposes only. Usually, one has to take out a bank loan to enjoy a meal at the airport but surprisingly I spent around US$20 including tip for my lite afternoon snack. I will definitely patronize this venue again.
